The XK is fast and elegant enough to prowl the streets of Monaco, all to the tune of its charismatic V8.

The second and final generation of XK (X150) debuted in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, styled by Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum. The grille was designed as a nod to the E-Type. The car was the first to feature a bonded and riveted aluminum chassis and body panels, therefore a lighter than its predecessor(91kg lighter to be precise).

This example features a 4.2L AJ-V8 mated to a 6-Speed ZF auto to distribute the ~300BHP to the rear wheels. Finished in a beautiful Zircon Blue, and in convertible form, this car is coming out of 5 years ownership.

Elegantly styled by Ian Callum, timeless curves with a nod to its racing heritage from the E-Type.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with large sporting 19" alloys, the overall the condition of the wheels is great, when you get really close you can notice some very minor curb marks.

Wrapped in premium Dunlop rubber all around, the car has plenty of tread ready for a summer full of fun road trips. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a detailed view of the wheels and tyres.

Bodywork

The body appears very good, with no major issues to point out. The panels are straight throughout, with even panel gaps and a great fit. We didn't observe any areas of concern on the visit, take a good look through the content for a detailed view.

Paint

Finished in a lovely Zircon Blue with a darker blue soft top hood, the car really looks the part. The finish shows evidence of being well cared for, with no significant damage to the paint. It has a very good lustre and finish, and doesn't pick up any obvious imperfections, the colour looking even across all the panels. Please take a look at the detailed videos for a closer look at the exterior.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks great, we didn't notice any chips, cracks or discolouration on our visit. The window seals to look good and in line with the age and mileage of the car.

The convertible hood looks in great condition too, a good fit when fully closed and no major marks or discolouration of note.

INTERIOR VIDEO

Interior

Everything a GT should be, elegantly styled and built to last, this interior certainly has those qualities.

Seats and Carpets

Heated electric seats finished in ivory leather really look great with the roof down, a nice contrast against the Zircon Blue paintwork.

The overall condition of the interior is great, with no heavy signs of aging. The driver's seat has a few creases and marks on the bolsters as you'd expect. The carpets and mats have worn well, with the drivers showing a little average wear.

Dashboard

The dashboard has stood the test of time, with the quality materials keeping it looking smart and fresh.

The light wooden veneer offers a luxurious touch to the interior, an option that we prefer over the brushed aluminium. Take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look at the interior.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Both the gearstick and steering wheel are presented in good condition, in line with their age and mileage. The wood veneer trim extends to the steering wheel on this example, a nice touch.

Mechanics

A sensational 4.2L V8 bolted to a chassis, 31% more rigid than the predecessor, this XK was a step-up.

Engine and Gearbox

This example features a 4.2L AJ-V8 engine mated to a ZF auto and produces 300BHP, impressive. We captured a mechanical video, the car starting from cold, and then settled and ticked over with no drama.

Please take a look at the video and photographs of the very tidy engine bay. Brian reports that the car goes through the gears as it should.

Suspension and Brakes

Visually the brake and suspension components appear to be in good condition, the discs, and pads do not show evidence of abuse or neglect.

Brian reports a very smooth journey in the XK, with the adaptive suspension offering a firm yet comfortable ride.

The Drive

With 300BHP on tap, this car really goes when you want it to, Brian prefers a bit more of tamed approach while using the car on the weekend.

This car is the ideal grand tourer for long weekends away or trips to the shops. It manages to do it all in style, pace, and grace.

Electrics and Other

Brian reports the roof operation works just as you would expect with no issues with the motors.

All the electrical items on the car appear functional and fully working to Brian's knowledge, the car had a major service at the Jaguar main dealer in 2017.

History and Paperwork

A lovely spec on this GT car, ready for some roof-down adventures this summer.

The car is coming out of 5 years ownership with Brian. A major service was actioned at Jaguar Stratstone in March 2017, with the car having new front and rear disc brakes and pads, a full check, and road test and everything was working as it should, with the only amber point showing the air con requiring a refresh. Since the service and new brake pads, the car has a healthy amount of MOT documents, and Brian reports the car not needed much more than that.

Hi Brian has the car not had a service since 2017 or have I missed the document?

Hi, it has been doing approx 2k miles a year so it was subjected only to jaguar health checks since 2017 with a plan to service in 2020 until lockdown came in. Since purchase 5 years ago i have added only about 10k to mileage (I would need to check exact amount)

John , yes it has electric everything, heated seats, wing mirrors, hood. It has SATNAV and sensors.
