Introduction

Darren Rungasamy
Photographer and Editor

Even by modern standards, the Supercharged XKR impresses with its refinement and complete composure on the roads.

The XKR was one of Jaguar's most performance-oriented road cars when it was first released, solidifying its place in the sports car class. Combining Jaguar's reputation for comfort and ride finesse, the X150 generation of the Ian Callum-designed grand tourer offered an astonishingly elegant body style, with impressive elements of practicality and luxury.

Keen to keep the brand abreast of modernity and stray away from nostalgic reliance, the all-aluminium construction provided a strong and light platform for the 2009 introduction of the new 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged engine. Boasting an output of ~503 bhp, it was mated to one of the best automatic gearboxes of the era, a six-speed with the JaguarDrive rotary gear selector. Kept fresh by regular facelifts, the XKR has dated gracefully and has the performance to match.

This highly specified 2010 Supercharged 5.0 model has only ~51,025 miles on the clock and comes in black metallic paint and ivory-coloured soft-grain leather interior. Fitted with the Speed Pack option, hosting the aerodynamic body kit and speed limiter increased to 174 mph, the interior is furnished with a premium Bowers and Wilkins sound system, heated/ventilated seats and front and rear parking sensors. This well-kept example comes to marked after ~3 years with our vendor and has two keys, 13 service stamps and one a year MOT.

This listing was written from information supplied by Darren after meeting Ossie the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

Elegant and understated with phenomenal agility and performance, the XKR has been a joy to experience.

As an active member of the Surrey chapter of the Jaguar Enthusiast Club, Ossie has a deep connection with Jaguar and has a vast amount of experience with both modern and classic models. The XKR has been stored in a secure garage,

Ossie told us he has owned Jaguars for over ~20 years and has always enjoyed the looks and drive especially of the big engine models .

Ossie purchased a 5.3 litre series 3 E-Type roadster in 2004 and still drive it at weekends, he bought an XK because he loved the design and quality build but then upgraded to the XKR and has enjoyed the power, exhaust sound ,smoothness and classic lines.

Recently he purchased a day to day car which meant the XKR joined the E-Type as a weekend car and hence was not getting enough use, so he has decided to give someone else the pleasure of owning the XKR.

Ossie will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

The Midnight Metallic Black paint adds elegance and sophistication to the gracefully styled design.

Wheels and Tyres

The 20-inch 10-spoke Matrix alloys are in good shape, with just light kerb damage noted on the front rims.

The car is fitted with a set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres, they’re all under 5 years old and show plenty of tread.

Bodywork

The exterior presents well, with flush fitting panels and equal shut lines. All doors open and close freely, although the passenger door handle occasionally has a little resistance.

There are a couple of minor panel dings on the driver's side door and rear panel, but both are easily treatable by a dent specialist. The rest of the metalwork is good without flaws.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our high-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The Midnight Metallic Black paint has a smooth lustre with a consistent finish.

The pain looks great across the car, however, with black cars you notice the smallest imperfections, so being picky, we noticed a few minor marks and scuffs but they are small as you'll see in the images.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass is in good condition with healthy seals. The lights and lenses are smartly presented and free of condensation with fully operational rear LEDs.

The body fittings are good, with just some of the window chrome trims now starting to show mild signs of age.

The bumpers are flush to the body but reveal surface flaws: the front nearside corner bumper has flat paint and shows scuff marks, the rear bumper has a mark on it and the front diffuser trim has a slightly loose seal - all fairly easy improvements to make, if the new owner wishes to do so.

Interior

The cabin offers a welcoming sight, enhanced by the well-maintained and elegantly finished interior.

Seats and Carpets

The ivory-coloured soft-grain leather looks lovely and it is a striking and contrasting colour combination to the exterior.

As you'd expect, the driver's seats shows a little creasing in line with the age of the car, but are free of significant marks.

The rear and passenger seats display well and the carpets and mats are in good condition too.

Finally, the boot has been carefully used and the trim is generally free of marks.

Dashboard

The dashboard and centre console are in good shape, and free of any wear or damage to the leather.

The facia and controls look smart and all are working, as confirmed by Ossie. The metal trim and black inserts really add an element of finesse to the cabin presentation.

The Alcantara headlining is in excellent shape too, with no issues noted on the interior trim or door cards.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in excellent condition and free of any marks.

Mechanics

Combined with the potential to offer devastating straight-line performance, the XKR is the most rewarding grand-tourers of its era.

Engine and Gearbox

The cold start process was trouble-free, with no dashboard warning lights or unwanted exhaust fumes observed. The engine idled smoothly and was free of unwanted noises.

The engine is cleanly presented, with signs of regular upkeep and maintenance.

The automatic gearbox operates without any reported issues, the shifts were clean and smooth.

Suspension and Brakes

Fitted with adaptive dynamic sports suspension, the Jaguar rides smoothly, absorbing the road without thuds or unwanted noises.

The brakes also operated without any problems, slowing the car down with no judders or squeals.

The Drive

Jaguar's expertise in perfecting effortless road holding has been the brand's traditional strong point. This is outlined by the XKR’s ability to soak up the miles with balanced handling, great steering feel and well-timed automatic gear changes.

The car pulls exceptionally well at any speed and the engine sounded consistent during our visit. We were not treated to the true potential of its raw performance but having that power in reserve is one of the many reassuring aspects of the XKR. It deals with the open road in a civilised manner, the suspension soaking up the uneven roads without any negative feedback or noises. The steering operates without fault, remaining true when braking and free of play.

Ossie has been satisfied with the XKR's reliability and has not reported any problems with the oil pressure or engine temperature. The car remained leak-free during our visit, as confirmed by the very recent MOT certificate.

Electrics and Other

This car is fitted with the optional 'Speed Pack' from factory and offers an exceptional interior specification which includes a heated leather "R" steering wheel, heated and cooled seats, Bluetooth connectivity, DAB, premium Bowers and Wilkins sound system and front and rear parking sensors with visual aids.

The car also comes with a tailor made indoor cover.

History and Paperwork

It has seen over £5,000 worth of spending in the last ~3 years and an impressive service history record.

The car was first registered in Oxford in June 2010 and it comes with an impressive 13 service stamps, 11 of which were carried out by the main dealer. Recent bills totalling £5,000 include work on the brakes including 4 new discs, pads and sensors, it also had a service in late 2024.

Other invoices during Ossie’s 3 year ownership include a new rear lamp cluster and a pair of headlamps. Before taking on the car in 2022, there were invoices for servicing and sundry items.

The car has its complete owner's wallet and booklets, two keys and a year's MOT.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment of the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Could you please confirm :
Whether or not the tyre mentioned in the last Mot as having a deep cut has been replaced ?
Has the slight exhaust leak mentioned on the same Mot been addressed ?
Is there some damage to the leading edge of the passengers side front wing ?
One of the previous Mot’s mentions unlit Leds on both rear lights…I can only see an invoice for one…have both been replaced ?
    Thank you

Sorry just found it in the paperwork photographs. Was there a problem with the battery? I can see the latest service said it was programmed to the car and you were to monitor it

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
