Introduction

Adam Purrier
CEO

Elegant, luxurious and powerful - the XKR is a fantastic car with plenty of added extras, capable of delivering some seriously outstanding performance.

Jaguar is a brand that has produced some brilliant cars, and living up to the past heroes is a tough act to follow. The XKR followed the X150 XK models in 2007, with new supercharged engines promising a punchy upgrade without any compromise to its comfort. At the time it was one of the most powerful cars to leave the Coventry factory, the manufacturers had also developed the car properly, meaning that the quality of materials, reliability and finishing were on par with the best. This helped place the XKR firmly in the greats of Brown Lane, which now offers tremendous value for what is arguably one of the stylish cars of the era. A facelift was introduced with minor alterations to the front and rear lights, as well as bumper design, along with a brand new 5.0L V8 under the hood, with this being an 'R', a supercharger is also installed.

This model features a wealth of additional factory upgrades including the Jaguar Black Pack, Dynamic Pack, Speed Pack, High Gloss Shadowline pack, Bower and Wilkins upgraded Hi-Fi, dynamic switchable exhaust, heated steering wheel and seats, sat nav and many other great features.

The XKR is also Stage One mapped giving it a seriously impressive ~565BHP with its upgrade. Coming from nearly three years of ownership, the Jag has been really looked after having also been previously owned by the management team at Jaguar with dealership servicing completed over this time.

This listing was written from information supplied by Adam after meeting Euan the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The Jaguar is a fantastic car to own and drive, having the upgraded performance and style packs on it makes all the difference.

With his experience in performance motoring upgrades, the current owner Euan, purchased the car with its styling and future potential in mind, he said, "I always had an interest in Jaguar cars and this one ticked all the boxes for me. The 5.0L V8 Supercharged engine has so much potential and I knew I could get more out of it with a few tweaks and upgrades".

Having owned the car for nearly three years now, the time has come for a new project, Euan said, "I love this car and have really enjoyed driving it, I have a new car in mind and need the extra space at home to be able to accommodate it".

Euan will be happy to answer any questions about the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

With its upgraded High Gloss and Jaguar Black Pack optional styling extras, the XKR is a real head turner with its additional carbon look accents and modern colour contrasts.

Wheels and Tyres

20" XRS alloys look great around the car, having been reconditioned by the current owner, a lovely touch in the colour has been added to include metallic flecks in the black paintwork. To help protect this finish, the wheels are also covered in a subtle protective layer of film and rim protectors.

Tyres on the Jaguar are set up with a premium brand. Pirelli's PZero's on the front are date coded 2021 (0221) and show a width of 255 with 35 profile (255/35). Rears are date coded 2020 (1120) and show 295/30. Tread shows well given the tyres are fairly new in their age.

Bodywork

The Jaguar’s bodywork is in great condition; looking around the car, there are no apparent dings or dents that we noted on our visit. The door shut lines are visually equal and matching, as are the bonnet and boot.

There have been additional carbon look accents (wrap) added to the bodywork with splitter trim, side skirts, rear diffuser, engine vents, side air intakes and shark fin antenna all being visually enhanced. With the upgraded Black Pack on the car, stealth black styling is also applied to the front grille section.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The XKR is finished in Polaris White (Paint code 'NER') and shows a lovely coverage across the panelling. We noted a couple of small stone chips mainly on the bonnet section which is as to be expected and nothing out of the ordinary. Looking closer at the bonnet, there was a little sign of bird lime which has caused a slight imperfection on the paint coating in a small area - you have to look hard and catch the light right to see it.

The car has had a machine detailing over its recent history along with a ceramic coating applied to the exterior adding to the quality of the bodywork and paint.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The windscreen, side windows, mirrors, Xenon headlights and lenses all appear in good condition and we could see no sign of scratching or chips on the glass.

The Jaguar also features the Black Pack styling kit which is only available only on Speed Pack-spec'd XKRs. This adds stealth black styling elements to the window and glass trims.

The headlights and rear lights are all free from any chips or cracks in the lenses, and the trim sections around the car are in good condition, again with no issues, which we could see.

Interior

Comfort and luxury is everywhere on the XKR, from its heated seats and steering wheel to gloss black finishing and leather trim - the Jaguar packs so much quality into its interior.

Seats and Carpets

Electric, heated, extremely comfortable and finished in beautiful black leather, the seats are in great condition, as you would expect for a car of this condition. As nice additional touch on the seats is the embossed 'R' on the front seat headrests. The memory options give the driver and passenger options to set their preferences, moving back into place when differing options are selected. We did note a slight sign of wear on the drivers seat bolster section but nothing overly concerning.

The carpets and mats are in great condition with no excessive wear to be seen. The carpet sections in the Jaguar are covered by diamond stitch mats which suit the interior really well. Over in the boot section, the carpets here also show in great condition. The door cards are also in good condition with no scuffs or damage.

Dashboard

The dash area looks great and shows the care and attention that has been given to the Jaguar. Clocks and dials showed nicely with ~73,348 miles at the time of our visit. The display on the dash section displayed a lovely level of presentation and are all functional showing clearly with no obvious scratching to the facings.

Centre placed is the sat nav system which controls the CD player and Bowers and Wilkins Stereo System, DAB tuner with the onboard computer switching up to the park distance control when parking. Our interior gallery section takes you over some closer images of the XKR dashboard, head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather-bound heated steering wheel with Jaguar emblem and 'R' badge is in pride of place and is in good order as you would expect; the multi-function controls are working as they should and show little signs of any wear.

We've captured high-resolution photos for you to review and appreciate the condition of the interior in our gallery section.

Mechanics

With a Stage One mapped supercharged V8 up front, its thanks to the Jaguar's sublime handling that it keeps the ~565BHP beast firmly on the road.

Engine and Gearbox

Driving the Jaguar gave us no cause for concern with the gears shifting through the automatic gearbox without issue. The engine functioned smoothly and sounded great on the road when we took the car out, the supercharger really packs a punch and gives a powerful growl indicating the power from the V8.

The XKR features the Speed Pack which delivers a maximum speed increase, where the electronic limiter is removed and the ECU is tweaked to reflect the addition to performance. The active diff has also been retuned as part of this additional upgrade spec. The current owner has Stage One mapped the Jaguar giving an increase to ~565 BHP as well as a mid section exhaust delete to allow better airflow and sound note through the exhaust system.

A useful feature on the XKR is the dynamic switchable exhaust, this gives the driver additional options to change the exhaust noise which helps to make it more 'neighbour friendly' whilst giving the option for performance sound when out on a drive. Head over to the mechanical review video for an overview of the engine, here you can see the car start up from cold.

Suspension and Brakes

Overall the car gave us no concerns in its performance or handling which was a joy to be out on the road in. The ride in the XKR is focused on a sport setup so drives with a little stiffness but this benefits the handling aspects of the car and didn't present an issue. We noted no knocks, bangs or unwanted noises from the car when out on the road.

As part of the Dynamic Pack, the car features upgraded suspension, unique spring and damper settings, uprated Adaptive Dynamics and a 10mm reduction on the ride height.

The red callipers give a smart sporty look around the exterior and contrast nicely against the black metallic flecked rims and white exterior. The anti-lock brakes all look to be in great condition as do the callipers. The brakes bring the car to a halt in a straight line with no juddering reported to come through the pedal and worked as to be expected.

The Drive

Out on the test drive we noted no concerning issues with the XKR. Thanks to its power assisted steering and sports suspension the drive was really enjoyable with the Jaguar handling really nicely and without a great deal of effort on then drivers part. Traction control also adds an extra feeling of handling grip in its performance.

We take the XKR out on some local roads to get a better feel for the car. Head over to the on the road video to hear our thoughts on the journey and to see how the car performs. Euan takes us through the Jaguar's performance history, demonstrating the cars refinements particularly around the engine performance and exhaust system upgrades.

Electrics and Other

The Jag is complete with a wealth of extras; sat Nnav, Xenon headlights, Bluetooth, CD player and DAB tuner, Bowers and Wilkins upgraded speakers, air con, heated electric memory sports seats, heated multifunction steering wheel, power assisted steering, predictive active cruise control, active lighting, rain sensor, sun protection glass, electric folding mirrors, parking distance control, dynamic switchable exhaust and of course traction control.

The list is almost endless but packs in so much for the future owner to fully enjoy the XKR to its full potential. On our test drive out in the car, we noted no issues with the electrical components which Euan confirmed for us also.

History and Paperwork

Having been previously owned by the management team at Jaguar, the XKR has come from great heritage - not only that, but showing no advisories on the last MOT, the XKR is ready for many more miles ahead.

The XKR comes from a great background having been previously kept by an owner who worked for Jaguar. With no advisories on its last MOT the Jag is ready for its new owner to enjoy and make the most of.

The XKR has had new rear tyres fitted in April 2021 and July 2020. Servicing in September 2020 covering oil filter and flush, pollen filter and coolant pipe reassembly costing ~£494 was completed, September 2019 saw a change in the brake fluid as well as an oil service at 61,940 miles. September 2018 had oil service, spark plug and oil filter replacement at 56,235 miles. In September 2017 servicing was completed costing over ~£340. September 2016 saw servicing due to 43,293 miles travelled. In September 2015 oil servicing was completed at 39,494 miles.

Servicing was completed at 34,604 miles and ~£665 of works including a full service and oil filter, air filter, brake fluid and pedestrian crash sensor actuator by Westover Jaguar. Aircon regas in 2013 carried out by Jaguar Oxford. In April 2013 maintenance was completed in line with 24,305 miles driven. Servicing was actioned at 14,460 miles by Jaguar Company Vehicle checks in February 2012.

Hello Euan.

1.Going by the service history and the “requires service” warning message I saw displayed at the start of the video I assume the car is due a service based on time since last service?

2. Do all functions including the air con work as intended?

3. If I buy the car will you be able to provide documents showing the modifications you have done, in particular the remapping? Would need these for insurance purposes.

Thank you.

Good afternoon, Euan,
no sign of a spare wheel or space-saver?
Regards,
Jerry

Any thoughts on the slight rusting on the frame underneath? Is there a way to protect this from getting any worse?
