Introduction

Isaac Waas
Professional Consigner

Elegant, luxurious and powerful - the XKR is a fantastic car capable of delivering some seriously outstanding performance.

Jaguar is a brand that has produced some brilliant cars, and living up to past heroes is a tough act to follow. The XKR followed the X150 XK models in 2007, with new supercharged engines promising a punchy upgrade without any compromise to its comfort. At the time, it was one of the most powerful cars to leave the Coventry factory. The manufacturers had also developed the car properly, meaning that the quality of materials, reliability, and finishing were on par with the best. This helped place the XKR firmly among the greats of Browns Lane, which now offers tremendous value for what is arguably one of the most stylish cars of the era.

This car comes to market from ~8.5 years ownership, and is a facelift which was introduced with minor alterations to the front and rear lights, as well as bumper design, along with a brand new 5.0L V8 under the bonnet. With this being an 'R', a supercharger is also installed. It was optioned with an Ivory leather interior, which pairs well with the rare 'Kyanite Blue' paintwork. It has recently had new spark plugs, a change of gearbox oil and gearbox sump, a new supercharger belt, and an auxiliary belt. The Jaguar is complete with 2 sets of keys, an owner's handbook, leather folio, and folder. If you're in the market for an XKR coupé, this low mileage example deserves a close look.

This listing was written from information supplied by Isaac after meeting Alison the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

From first seeing Ian Callum’s design for the Jaguar XKR, we've always wanted to own one of these cars - we are truly Jaguar fans!

The Jaguar has been with the current keeper, Alison for the past ~8 years. Being fans of the brand and design, buying the Jaguar was an obvious choice for owners; Alison said, "My husband and I, have loved the car and in recent years have driven the XKR in the Isle of Mann, to the Le Mans Classic and also to Monaco Historique. The car has been a pleasure to drive on every journey, no matter the mileage, and has never missed a beat."

Alison has enjoyed every minute of ownership for the Jaguar and tells us, "The 5 litre V8 supercharged engine is an absolute joy to drive and very smooth. With heated and cooled seats the car is very comfortable and there is lots of room for luggage for longer trips. For this particular car the rare Kyanite Blue paintwork with the Ivory interior, really stood out to us, which is one of the main reasons we purchased the car."

Although the car is one that Alison and her husband have fond memories of, an upgrade is on the horizon, Alison continued, "The car has been our pride and joy - the only reason we are selling it now is that we are looking to purchase a Jaguar F-Type."

Should any questions be required about the car, Alison would be happy to answer these in the comments section below.

Exterior

With its upgraded Jaguar Takoba wheels and rare Kyanite Blue paint colour, the XKR is a real head turner with its optional styling extras.

Wheels and Tyres

The Jaguar is fitted with 20" five-spoked alloys finished in a smart polished silver colour. The wheels have been upgraded from the factory fitted 'Supercharged' versions to Jaguar OEM 'Takoba' wheels. The wheels look in great condition and we saw minimal signs of issues.

Fitted with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres and they appear to have a good amount of tread left and show date codes from 2021 to the rear and 2022 to the front. For a more detailed view of the XKR's exterior and a closer inspection of the wheels and tyres, please refer to the photos and videos.

Bodywork

The Jaguar’s bodywork is in great condition; looking around the car, there are no apparent dings or dents that we noted on our visit. Door shut lines are visually equal and matching, as are the bonnet and boot.

When we looked over the car, we didn't see any current signs of corrosion to the body panels, what you'd expect given the care this car has received over its life. The XKR has had previous work carried out for corrosion works on the nearside front wing.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The Kyanite Blue finish (paint code JMQ) is a very rare colour for these cars. The appearance is even in coverage and colour across all the panels, overall showing in great condition. We did spot several small stone chip markings to the front bumper and wings, although these didn't detract too badly from the exterior of the XKR.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it, if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this XKR looked in great condition, in line with the age; we didn't notice any cracks, or discolouration on our visit. There was a slight mark on the nearside edge of the windscreen.

The window seals look in great condition too, matching the rest of the car. The front and rear lights looked very well-maintained. Badges and emblems are present and correct. Other items like the "Supercharged" labelled bonnet vents give you a hint of what the car has to offer, that and a very modest "R" badge to the rear.

Take a look through the exterior gallery and review video. We take you across all areas of the car as if you were standing there yourself. This way, you can see in greater detail how the car is presented.

Interior

Comfort and luxury is everywhere on the XKR, from its heated seats and steering wheel to wood finishing and leather trim - the Jaguar packs so much quality into its interior.

Seats and Carpets

The XKR is equipped with ivory soft grain leather upholstery featuring the "R" logo embossed in the headrests, providing a stylish contrast to the exterior. The seats in this car are fully loaded with full electric adjustment, including memory function, heating, and importantly, cooling functions. A notable feature for rear passengers is the integrated rear-facing speakers in the front seat headrests.

Overall, the seats are in very good condition, with minor creases starting to show on the outer bolster of the driver's seat, which is typical for a car of this age and mileage and does not raise any major concerns. The car is fitted with factory overmats, and the carpets in the cabin area and boot are also in very good condition.

We cover the cabin area of the Jaguar in further detail in our interior review video.

Dashboard

Wrapped in black leather, and with contrasting wood inserts across the centre console, the dashboard presented in excellent unmarked condition, this is a car that has clearly been cared for.

The Jaguar sat nav system sits in the centre section; controlling the CD player and Stereo System, DAB tuner and onboard computer switching up to park distance control when parking.

A centre digital screen is fitted between the speedometer and rev counter. The dials, switches, and controls all appeared to be in excellent condition, with surfaces appearing free from fogging or scratching.

Our interior gallery section takes you over some closer images of the XKR dashboard, head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Finished in black leather, the steering wheel presents in excellent condition. Inline controls present well, controlling the entertainment system, hands free and cruise control. The steering wheel also has heating function for the colder days.

The automatic gearbox can be controlled by a smart metal dial in the centre console that raises when the car is started and shows in great condition. The steering wheel also has paddle shifts to move the car through the gears should you choose to control them.

We've detailed some more images of the cabin area including the steering wheel in our Interior Gallery section - head over to see more shots of what's on offer with the XKR.

Mechanics

An incredibly powerful performance from the supercharged 5.0L V8, delivering ~500 BHP and 0-60 MPH in ~4.6 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

Driving the Jaguar gave us no cause for concern, with the gears shifting smoothly through the automatic gearbox. The engine functioned flawlessly and sounded impressive on the road, with the supercharger delivering a powerful growl that highlights the V8's strength.

Upon starting the car, we noted no issues, and it idled smoothly. Alison reports that both the engine and 6-speed gearbox are very smooth. We took the car out on local roads to better understand its performance.

For a closer look underneath the XKR and an overview of the engine bay, please refer to the mechanical video.

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no knocks, bangs, or issues from the suspension when we were on the road, and it gave us no concerns in its performance or handling.

Finished in red, the sports brake callipers add to the overall smart style of the car. The brakes felt great and were easily able to bring the XKR to a stop.

We cover the underside of the car in our 'Mechanical Gallery' section. Head over to our video section, where we've summarised our visit in more detail for you to view for yourself. We take you around the mechanical elements of the car and give you an overview of what's on offer here.

The Drive

Overall, a very smooth and powerful drive out in the XKR. Out on the test drive we noted no concerning issues with the performance. Thanks to its power assisted steering and sports suspension the drive was really enjoyable.

Our on the road video gives an overview of the car on some local roads and how it performs whilst driving.

Electrics and Other

All switches, dials, and gauges appear undamaged and in good condition. Alison mentioned that she's had no issues with the electrical elements of the car and believes that everything should be working correctly to the best of her knowledge.

Fully adjustable seats with memory settings and heat and cool functions, dual climate control, navigation, and surround sound stereo system are all part of the Jaguar's excellent equipment package.

The car is also optioned with adaptive cruise control (you will notice two small wheels on the right hand side of the steering wheel; one is for cruise control, and the other is for adaptive cruise control). Adaptive headlights are also fitted.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~8 years ownership and with just 2 former keepers, this XKR presents in great condition and low mileage with under ~10,000 miles covered in the last ~3 years.

The Jaguar remains largely original with no major restoration work carried out. It maintains its low mileage and smart appearance, having been fully Waxoyl-treated. Recently, preventive maintenance includes new spark plugs, a change of gearbox oil and sump, and replacement of the supercharger belt and auxiliary belt. The XKR is accompanied by two sets of keys, an owner's handbook, leather folio, and folder.

Included with the sale are items featured in the interior review video and paperwork gallery, such as XKR-branded ivory bags, show medals, and trophies.

Recent work in May 2024 included replacement of the supercharger and auxiliary belts, inspection of the water pump and suspension bushes, replacement of the passenger door mirror, and rear brake pads, totaling over £1,400. A new YUASA battery was installed in April 2024.

Front tyres were replaced with Dunlop SP Sportmaxx J's in May 2023, and rear tyres with Dunlop Sportmaxx 99Y XL J's in April 2022. The car underwent Waxoyl treatment, with repairs done to the driver's seat and nearside front wing to address corrosion in October 2018. Another YUASA battery was fitted in May 2018, and the air conditioning was re-gassed in April 2018.

A fresh service and MOT was completed on 28/06 (image of receipt now in the paperwork section).

Replacement works included the offside rear inner lamp in June 2017 and the nearside rear wishbone arm in October 2011.

For a comprehensive look at the car's history and maintenance, please refer to the history and paperwork media, which includes previous MOT reports and service receipts.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and actioned a HPi check on the vehicle.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi I can confirm there are no oil leaks. The day the pictures and video were filmed it was a very hot day and the air conditioning was working as normal. The puddles you can see are water condensation from the air conditioning, which is perfectly normal.

Hello MrB – yes, I can confirm that the adaptive headlights and adaptive cruise control work correctly. You won’t find many XKR’s with the adaptive cruise control, as its a very rare option.
