Introduction
Tom Valle
A fully loaded, full service history and just one former keeper F-Type, with the engine to have - V6 S.
The V6 S Coupe variant of the F-Type slotted in the middle of the pecking order of the model, offering a decent compromise of power to price ratio. In the process, it shifted the expectations of a modern two-seater sports car and helped to elevate the status of the brand, which had long been associated with 'old money' quality. Unveiled in 2014, the V6 Supercharged engine derives from the V8 block, yet maintains a similar amount of horses. Recognised as the model that brought the brand back into contention as a genuine sporting car, the compact and well-crafted F-Type is often considered one of the best looking cars currently in production.
This stunning sapphire-blue example has just one private owner and comes with full Jaguar Service history. Furthermore, the car has a recorded mileage of just over 40,000 miles and has seen the benefit of a cherished lifestyle.

Hi Ecc,
I completely understand. I’d ask all the same questions so hopefully I’ve reassured you somewhat.
The light is on/off. The engine runs fine and doesn’t go into idle. It’s purely a ticking noise on cold starts and goes away once the car is warmed up. If it had been a bigger issue, I’d have had no choice but to solve it but because the car runs fine, I thought I’d solve it later, on a day when I didn’t need the car.
Thanks
Roger
Roger
Thanks for the update. having done some more research, my concerns are the Ftype V6s do suffer from internal engine issues
owners and dealers describe “Just had a ticking noise on my f type identified as warped cylinder heads which are on back order from Germany. Jaguar decided to fit a new engine instead of an indefinite wait. Apparently it’s not uncommon problem on early 3.0 V6’s”
so you can perhaps understand my concerns as to the EML issue thats not been mentioned in the description or rectified and now is apparent the car does have a running fault ? although its described as running perfect ?
thankyou
Hi, just noticed the EML dash light is on in the video of start up. this is also noted on one of the recent service / MOT Jaguar receipts when gearbox module was replaced. what is the issue please with the cars fault if still any as i dont know when the video was taken (date?) and whats the diagnosis by Jaguar dealer diagnostics of further fault. thankyou
Hi,
Please be assured that the Jaguar has just had a very recent service and is in excellent running order. Regarding the service light, this is due to a minor fault which is prompting the service light to come on.
At the time of it’s service I wasn’t planning on selling the car and to fix the issue Jaguar needed to wait for parts and I needed my car back. So consequently, I left this issue to sort later as they said it wasn’t urgent. I have been told it would cost about £350 to solve with an independent garage, or a bit more with Jaguar so I’ll leave this with the new owner to decide. Had I know I was going to sell the car, I would have left it with Jaguar to sort.
In terms of the Gear shift, this was fixed and replaced in the recent service. All records are attached. You’ll see that I have always serviced in full with Jaguar and completed every suggested job and this is the only time I’ve left a job outstanding. Typical!
To confirm, the car is in excellent condition and I’m only awear of this one minor issue which is easily solved.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Roger
Roger, thanks for the reply, TBH i am surprised at your reply and disappointed that the car has potentially a major issue with the EML light – it is not just a service light. The EML light is indicating the cars ECU has detected a fault in the brain on the car and its not performing correctly and is Not “in excellent condition” as it has a unknown issue / fault with it
As there is no evidence of what the fault code no. is from Jaguar or what the fault / remedy work is and it happened while the car was in for MOT/ service, i dont know how you can say its £350 of work – it could just as well be £3,500 of work. – is it engine, gearbox, fuel, catalytic con. / Exhaust, no one knows and its not been. Surely it would be better to be honest and upfront and actually quote what the fault is in “jaguars words” ?
So now the car has a potential major fault indicated on the dash at the time the video and car description were drawn up – none of which are noted in the “drive, engine/gearbox or electrics” sectors or anywhere in the cars description – this is a major oversight on sellers behalf
seeing an earlier post – A rattle / ticking from the rear exhaust box would not cause the EML light to be illuminated. The ticking noise is more likely to be the engine valves or internal to the engine (common on Ftype V6) – this would cause EML light on
So the selling description of the car is actually inaccurate and untrue if it states the car is in fine working order with no issues
This clearly isnt the case and I cannot believe this car is being sold not running 100% correctly as it should do and that the selling descrpition is misleading and incorrect saying everything is “fully functional” and “No issues”
TBH i think this car should be withdrawn fromm auction sale, repaired correctly and relisted for sale
Hi Ecc,
Hope you’re well.
To try and help, I am the seller so hopefully I can reassure you and I completely appreciate your queries.
For your complete comfort, I have just phoned Jaguar Wakefield to clarify everything completely. There are only two issues detailed below.
1. Oxygen Sensor – this is what’s triggering the Engine Light. Hatfield Jaguar in Wakefield have confirmed £461.44 to fix this. Quote from Melissa.
2. The back box sometimes rattles a little on a cold start. To replace this fully, Hatfield Jaguar in Wakefield have confirmed this would cost £2077.42. Quote from Melissa. However, I have also been told that an independent Garage could fix this for about £350 so that’ll be up to the new owner.
Therefore, total cost to sort everything would be c. £2538.86 with Jaguar Wakefield but potentially less than £1000 if using an independent.
To reconfirm why I didn’t fix these during the service 3 weeks ago; Jaguar needed to wait for parts, and I needed the car back, and because I didn’t think I was going to be selling it so soon after, fixing them later wasn’t an issue. Had I known I was going to sell it, I would have obviously sorted them first, and expect to sell it for a higher guide price.
You can see that the car also had a full health check only 3 weeks ago so I have been as transparent as possible. I would imagine that it’s quite rare for someone to carry out a full service only 2 weeks before selling a car, so hopefully you can take some further comfort in that. This is an excellent car and has been treated exceptionally well with full Jaguar Service history.
Hope this helps to reassure you.
Kind regards,
Roger
Roger
is the EML light on all the time? does it run fine/normal and full engine power or is it on reduced power and reduced revs, ie does it go into Limp mode (reduced power) Thankyou
Please advise if your F-Type is RWD or AWD and is the annual road tax £330 or the higher duty.
Hi Philip,
The F-Type is rear wheel drive. Regarding the road tax, I pay by direct debit and it’s £346.50 for this year so I’m assuming that’s the £330 + a bit extra for DD charges.
Thanks,
Roger
Hi Roger, see pics 115/116 and 210/211. Joints don’t look as tight as the rear wheel arches, which prompted me to ask the question.
Hi Martin,
I’m impressed! I’ve never noticed this but I’ve just sorted it. Having checked online, this is a common query and is easily sorted. There’s some bolts under the bonnet with rubber tops which the bonnet rests onto as it closes. By simply unscrewing and increasing the height of these bolts on my car, the bonnet has rested in the correct place. I’ve taken a photo if needed. 6 Years I’ve had this car and never noticed this feature but it’s sorted now.
Thanks,
Roger
Ps. Go to YouTube and look for “DIY Jaguar F-Type Fender Alignment”. This should hopefully reassure you further.
Hi Roger, if you look on the external video, the front apron is misaligned where they meet the front wings below the headlight unit on the wheel arch on both sides.
Panel gaps are usually a dead giveaway for accident damage.
Other than that, looks a very nice car.
Hi Roger, thanks for your speedy reply. Has the Jaguar suffered any accident damage, l only ask as the front nose panel doesn’t seem to align properly with with front wings??
Regards Martin
Hi Martin,
Happy to help. Please be assured, the Jaguar has never being bumped. It is in lovely condition. Which picture makes the nose panel look misaligned?
Thanks
Roger
Hi Roger
There’s a ticking noise from the engine at idle, does that disappear when the oils warmed up. Surprised it wasn’t picked up at last service.
Has the back box been replaced as identified by Jaguar.
Regards Martin
Morning Martin,
Yes, this noise sometimes happens on a cold start but stops quite soon once the engine is running. When I was ready to collect the car from its last service, Jaguar informed me that they could fix it but they would need to wait for the parts. I believe it is from the back box, not the engine. It was only a minor issue and I wanted the car back so I left it this time with the intention of sorting later. I wouldn’t normally do this but I wasn’t intending to sell the car until last week and it was only a minor issue. If I’d known I was selling, I’d have sorted it. I’ve always had full Jaguar services but I’m told this ticking can be sorted much cheaper with an independent garage so I thought I’d leave that up to the new owner. I’ve been told that a local exhaust specialist in Osset would probably charge around £350 to fix. Jaguar would obviously be more.
Hope this helps.
Roger
Hi Roger,
Great car!
Has it been smoked in?
Thanks,
Phill.
Thanks Phill,
We have loved it. A lot of great memories. We’re not smokers so I can confirm it’s never been smoked in.
Kind regards,
Roger
