Introduction
Paul Wright
With Italian styling and American muscle, the Jensen is quite possibly the ultimate British built car.
The Jensen Interceptor is a hand-built luxury GT first produced in 1966. The body was designed by an Italian firm, Carrozzeria Touring in Italy, and the power comes from a Chrysler V8 engine; this 1974 example is fitted with the larger 7.2L High Deck Big Block and had the distinction of being the most powerful car ever to have been made by Jensen. These cars were built-to-order and produced in more paint colours than any other model. They also had a wide range of trim options and innumerable specification variations - a hit among many celebrities of the time.
This lovely example was rescued by the previous keeper following a project which the owner at the time became too ill to finish, and where it stood untouched for ten years. Thankfully, it fell into the right hands and now graces our roads again.
This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Ben the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Thank you for your very honest answers very helpful
Hi there leezyjenson.
I will try to answer all questions as best I can but I suspect you have far more knowledge on the topic than me and will probably understand more about the car than me.
Regarding lack of pump I have no idea if there should or shouldn’t be one, there certainly isn’t one with the car as an unattached part so I assume removed by previous owner.
Seatbelt works fine, I don’t recall it not being worn but the car was repeatedly repositioned for the photos so it was on and off. The seatbelt does not fully retract when not worn like a modern one, as can be seen in the photos.
Damage to dash present prior to my ownership, so I cannot comment, glove box opens and closes fine.
Steering rack boots, I would not know what I was looking for. There has been issues with power steering fluid loss, this was temporarily sorted with leak stop, that said, as mentioned in the description, I would advise any new owner to have a reconditioned rack put in. When I looked at this Martin Robeys had replacement racks for below £300. (Obviously fitting would have to be considered)
Carpets have not been damp in my ownership as the car has never been out in the rain. As such I cannot comment on it leaking as it hasn’t been wet aside from washing it and there was no obvious ingress.
1990 was the last time the car was stripped back…this was then resprayed in 2017, possibly late 2016. There were no panels added before respray, I cannot comment if there were in 1990.
I have a NOCO multi charger that charges various batteries I have, the permanent lead is to make connecting this easier. That said yes it does drain, the battery that came with the car was replaced by myself early in my ownership due to this, if left approximately a month or more (without running) this will lead to a flattened battery, I don’t know if this is to be expected or a fault or simply due to the internal clock etc.
Few questions before I bid
No,pump in water bottle just a hole
Seat belt not worn on test why
Dash damaged on corner on glove box why has it been forced open
Steering rack boots none existent hanging of how is power steering holding fluids
Carpets look like they have been damp please confirm car doesn’t leak
Was it 1990 when last panels were fitted
Was it 2017 when bare metal photo was taking /respray only no replacement panels
Lastly why does it have extra battery charger wire permanently fitted to battery does it drain
Hi there, thanks for your interest. The car had been stripped back to metal by the previous owner where it remained for a number of years dry stored as he was taken ill. He ultimately sold the car on to the person who brought her back to life. This was in 2017 and included a full service, new brakes and tyres, full respray and a reconditioning of the lights. I do not know where this was carried out.
I have sent some photos to hello@tradeclassics.com who will add them here, I hope these help.
As for long runs, in my ownership she hasn’t done a journey over 50 miles, the last trip out was 30 approximately 2 months ago (the weather has been abysmal and lack of opportunity to use her is the reason for sale)
She gets started up and run every few weeks in the garage to keep the rubbers supple.
Can you tell me a bit more about the restoration please? What did it involve bodywork-wise, was it a local place where the work was carried out, or any photos of the restoration? Is the car used regularly, has it been on any long runs recently? Many thanks for your help.
Hi, photos of the work have been added to the paperwork section, you can see them here; https://www.tradeclassics.com/auctions/jensen/1974-jensen-interceptor-lll/#gallery4-39
