Lancia's flagship car, now a rare and fine classic with iconic styling by Pininfarina - the Gamma.

The Lancia Gamma Series 1 (aka Tipo 830) is an executive car, this is the 2-door coupé designed by Pininfarina, only 4,306 were ever manufactured, and this being 1 of 12 still on the road today - it's a rather rare sight.

The series 1 Gamma 2500, is responsible for replacing both the Flavia and the Fiat 130, it was powered by a specially designed 2.5L carburetor 8v SOHC flat-4 producing 140bhp.

The bright paint and rarity of these cars really grabbed Amjad's attention, so much so that he did a round trip to Scotland to test drive the car, and ended up driving it all the way back, adding it to his eclectic collection of classics.

Finished in a lively red and being such a unique car, we couldn't help adding it to our collection.

As most of our dedicated followers know, we only source the very best and unique cars we can from like-minded private collectors and enthusiasts. However, recently we opened up our service to trusted classic and performance specialists. Amjad is one of those verified specialists and we're glad to be working with him - he has an eye for detail and we love the cars he finds.

Amjad and his friend recently started purchasing a specialist collection of classics, purchasing and selling rare models, the Gamma being one from their collection. He reports the previous owner was an avid Lancia enthusiast and rarely used the car throughout his ownership, hence the relatively low mileage.

Wheels and Tyres

These intricately designed Lancia alloys look great all-around, finished to a high standard and show signs of care throughout previous ownership.

The wheels are fitted in Mastersteel Pro, Bridgestone and Kumho rubber dated around 2001, the tyres are around 20 years old, but still show a good amount of tread due to the little mileage covered.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks good on this Gamma, as all the panels appear straight with flush shut lines and even looking panel gaps. When photographing the car we noticed some very minor areas of surface corrosion to the bonnet, roof, and A pillar. A small dent on the bonnet and a little scuff to the rear bumper, in line with the age and mileage of the car.

Paint

We really like the choice of colour on this Gamma, a vibrant red that has really stood the test of time. The finish of the paint really stands out and appears even in coverage and colour across each panel.

Again, the images taken are from different angles and reflections to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. Please take the time to fully assess the condition.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks to be in great condition all around. The black trim/rubber seals look good too and in line with the rest of the car.

Usable, spacious, and comfortable - ticking all the boxes for a high-end executive car back in the day.

Seats and Carpets

A beautiful well cared for '70s interior finished with light brown seats and darker carpets. The interior appears in good condition and looks to be in line with the age and mileage of the car, with just some light age related marks on the carpets.

Dashboard

A great looking interior and a dashboard to match, and again it looks to be in line with the age and mileage of the car - free from cracks or major wear.

Amjad reports all the dials, gauges, and buttons are working as expected, including the clock.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The '70s styled black steering wheel is fitted along with a black gear-stick.

Both the gear stick and steering wheel appear in great condition in line with the rest of the interior.

Mechanics

Pressure cast in alloy with wet cylinder liners, the engine was light and produced 140bhp, with torque available from just 2,000 rpm.

Engine and Gearbox

Powered by a specially designed 2.5L carburetor 8v SOHC flat-4 producing 140bhp, the car started very well on the push of a button. Please view the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold with no dramas.

We have also captured a video out on the open road showing the car swiftly changing through the gears and working its way up to speed. We've also captured videos and photos of the engine bay and underneath the car for you to view.

Suspension and Brakes

Just like the rest of the car, the suspension and brakes appear to have been given the proper attention over its life, providing the driver with a comfortable ride with prompt stopping power.

The owner reports no knocking noises from the brakes or suspension, as seen and heard in the mechanical video.

The Drive

Designed as Lanica's flagship model, an executive car to replace the Flavia and the Fiat 130, the car is fitted with luxurious seats and offers comfort cruising on long trips.

Amjad reports a fun, quick drive in the car and mentions the car is ready to drive away and be enjoyed.

Electrics and Other

The car is fitted with an uprated modern radio head unit that works well within the car. The car has a powered aerial fitted, but is not currently working as the wrong model was ordered.
