Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
The Range Rover Classic - regarded as the world's first truly luxurious SUV; a timeless template created for all to follow.
The Range Rover was credited with creating a brand new market sector - the luxury off-roader.
When debuted in 1970, it only had three doors and a utilitarian interior. However, it's a combination of on-road comfort and off-road abilities made it such a hit. It was produced for a whopping 27 years and featured a V8 engine with an automatic transmission awarded for its quality.
This particular example has been owned by Chris for the previous 27 years and been dry stored for the 16 of them. A timewarp classic that really has been given the love and attention it deserves.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after liaising with Chris the owner.

Well done crystal, worth every pound of that price. I would have been in the bidding but my financial fire-power is restricted past about £15k due to being owed a similar amount by the goon at North Yorkshire Classic who I bought a range rover off which turned out to be a complete pile of crap, was returned to him in October 2020 on day of collection (it only managed 15 miles before breaking down) and I haven’t seen it or my money since. If you look on his advert on car and classic you’ll see it , G reg 3.5 like this but in clearwater blue….. like I say complete pile of poo, and proves you can polish a turd. Would have loved this one that you have bought, but good luck with it – and best wishes to Chris the owner for such an honest car and honest advert – the clown at North Yoekshire Classic could learn a lot from you, Sir
Regards

As a fellow classic range rover enthusiast for close on 40 years,i have to say that your RR is probably the nicest and straightest that i have ever seen[makes my 1988 RR look like a skip]..Good luck to you mate,,and well done….Regards ….Mark
Hi Mark
Your comments have just lifted my spirits on what is a sad day for me
I just hope that the person who buys my old girl, is as passionate for the Classic Range Rovers as you and I are.
I am sure like me you have seen them restored and looking beautiful.
But your comments on the nicest, straightist, untouched, you have ever seen in your 40 years of loving the R/Rover Classic. Has made me without a doubt even prouder of my old girl. She certainly has been Loved and Cherished, and I have loved every day .
I am sure yours is a good one, and hope you keep her ( They are the best of the best by Far )
Mark, Thank you so much for your Kind comments, and keep your old girl flying the flag.
My Very, Very,
BEST REGARDS.
Chris

Chris
She looks beautiful – why are you selling?
Good luck with the auction
Cavo
Hi Cavo, Thank you so much for your comments. The tender love, and affection, I have given her in the nearly 30 years I have owned her shows then ( Thank you ). I have been proud everywhere I have taken her, and Enjoyed every day I see her.
It’s not as you can imagine been an easy decision for me to sell her, Unfotunately I can’t have everything. We bought a motor home 5 years ago and love the freedom. So we are now in the process of selling our house and down sizing to enable us to get the most out of it ( whilst we are still 63 years young ?? ).
I just hope that through using Trade Classics Auction, Adam and his team can find me someone to Love and Cherish what IS, a Superb and Origional Example. The Best of the Best British Classic.
Again thank you for your kind Comments.
Kind Regards,
Chris

Hi ive seen there are some trays on the dash in the centre is there any reason for them being there to hide something? if so are they glued on or screwed on?
also on the few underside photos ive noticed the chassis is heavily undersealed is there any reason for this and has it had prior welding work that is being covered?
Regards Ben
Hi Ben. First and foremost, Both myself and the the old girl have Certainly got Nothing to hide from anyone, She is like me Honnest and Origional.
To your first question Ben, in regards to the trays on the dash as you say.
They would be sun glass holders !!, that I put on many years ago to keep them safe and easy accessible. They are glued on, and not covering anything up.
Your second question about the Few underside photo’s showing, as you say heavy underseal ( if you want more photo’s of the underside I will send them to you ) The reason for the underneath !!, is that prior to her being taken off the road in 2004.
She not only had lot’s of polish on the outside BUT was also looked after underneath, By wax oil, and the chassis filled with old engine oil and grease mixed. ( THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY WELDING DONE ON HER. AND CERTAINLY NOT COVERING ANYTHING UP.
BEN , I Hope that answers your questions and I will answer any more you have.
She is TOTALLY ORIGIONAL. and I am proud to still own her.
King Regards
Chris
Thanks for your prompt reply Chris certainly a beautiful car.
Thanks
Hi does the car require any welding
Reg Paul
Hi Paul. She certainly does not need any welding whatsoever. She is as good underneath as she is on top. Hope that helps.
Kind Regards
Chris
Hi Chris
Can you confirm that everything works on the car as it should electrical-wise – for example, windows, sunroof, locking, radio, lights etc etc.
Also, do you think it would be much of a job to remove the towbar (personal preference) and electrics without then upsetting the vehicle’s electrical systems?
Advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Chris Q
Hi Chris. I can assure you that all electrics work as they should. She is a perfect old girl. As for the tow bar, not a big job to take it off, and certainly will not affect the electrcical systems running of the car at all.
Hope that helps Chris.
Kind Regards
ChrisC
Hi Chris what is the buying price as I’d like to buy it now?
Hey Ollie, thanks for your interest but no buy it now. It’s on auction so if you like it then get involved in the bidding 🙂
HI Chris – I’ve noticed that the exhaust has a ” bandage ” on it – any further info regarding this.
Cheers
Stuart
Good morning Stuart. The reason for the bandage is, when I last changed the exhaust I put the bandage on as a preventative measure. As they are usually the first places where condensation gathers, hope that answers your question.
Kind regards.
Chris
