Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

Merging off-road toughness with refined luxury, the Range Rover is perfect for both city drives and wild adventures - an enduring symbol of style and versatility.

The Land Rover Range Rover emerged during a transformative era for the brand, which had long been synonymous with rugged off-road capability. Building on the success of the original Range Rover launched in 1970, Land Rover sought to refine its offering by blending luxury with the brand’s renowned toughness. By the early '90s, the company had established itself as a leader in the luxury SUV market, appealing to both adventure seekers and discerning drivers who desired comfort and sophistication. The Vogue stands out from other Land Rover models by striking a perfect balance between elegance and functionality. While models like the Defender focused on utilitarian design and unmatched off-road performance, the Vogue introduced a host of premium features, including plush interiors and advanced technology. With its powerful 3.9-litre Rover V8 engine and spacious cabin filled with high-quality materials, the Vogue redefined the luxury SUV experience, making it ideal for both rugged adventures and refined city driving.

This solid example is the "EFI" (Electronic Fuel Injection), variant, enhancing engine efficiency and performance by electronically controlling the fuel-air mixture. In turn, this improves power delivery and fuel economy while replacing traditional carburettors for better responsiveness. It has travelled very few miles over its last ~6 years in its current ownership and has benefited from being dry stored during this time. The current owner has completed many choice works including; camshaft and followers, head-gasket set, timing gear and chain, front and rear main oil seals, replacement thermostat, ignition leads and hoses. Other works have covered new rear discs, calipers and pads, suspension turret kit, front shock absorbers and new exhaust system. In its current ownership, body panels were removed following some signs of corrosion, and any affected sections of the metal were cut out. New panels were welded in place and treated for protection, with the rear arch liners and front footwells also included in this restoration process. The Land Rover comes with a fresh MOT, valid until 19.09.2025

This listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Andrew the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

A high vantage point for motorways and tough enough to tackle off-roading as well, a brilliant SUV that easily takes on anything it's presented with.

Andrew, the current keeper, has owned the Land Rover for the last ~6 years. With a decent amount of history throughout its life, the Land Rover was a natural choice for Andrew: "It had lots of documentation when I first purchased it and really careful ownership over its entire life. It wasn't just routine servicing in place, but also major refurbishments and replacement of expensive parts at approved garages. The bodywork, interior and chassis were in really good condition. The remaining work needed was mainly mechanical, which I knew I was easily capable of doing".

Having sold a "resto-mod" Land Rover 90 previously through Trade Classics, Andrew's car comes to market with minimal miles covered over the last few years. He tells us "I have had the car for over ~6 years now, and although I did use it a bit more regularly after finishing the refurb works, I have found that I use it less often than I'd like. After taking it for its MOT a couple of weeks ago, I discovered I had only driven ~53 miles in it in the last year. I must admit I enjoy refurbishing and rebuilding classics more than driving them!". With a new project on the horizon, Andrew goes on to say, "I feel it best to sell it on to someone who would make greater use of it than I have recently". Should any further questions be required about the Land Rover, Andrew would be happy to answer these in the comments section below.

Exterior

Boxy design, iconic grille, and tall stance exudes confidence, making the Range Rover an enduring symbol of British motoring.

Wheels and Tyres

The Range Rover has heavy duty 16" wheels fitted finished in grey. These were showing in good condition, just a few signs of lacquer peel and minor paint chips. There were no signs of any concerning damage during our visit, just observations of use.

The car is fitted with Nexen Radial AT tyres to the front and Kumho / Marshall Road Venture AT tyres to the rear. The tyre spec shows 205/80 to the front and rear. Date codes show from 2017 to the front and 2012 to the rear. These appear to be in great visual condition, with a good amount of tread remaining.

Bodywork

While looking over the Range Rover during our visit, we found that overall, the car maintains good panel gaps, and all doors, bonnet, and boot open and close smoothly. We noted the rear wing on the driver's side was slightly misaligned. We did not observe any major scratches or dents on the panels. After Andrew, the current owner's initial purchase, there was some corrosion noticed to some exterior panels, all of this was repaired by a professional welder to resolve any issues.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view at what’s on offer, and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The Range Rover's "Ardennes Green" paintwork has a smooth finish across all the panels, overall showing in good condition and complementing the car. Being picky, we did note a few signs of stone chips over the exterior, and a mark on the passenger side rear door, although nothing overly concerning.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass sections on the Land Rover were in great condition, looking consistent with the car's age; we didn't notice any cracks or discolouration during our visit. The window seals looked great although the sunroof blind material had started to come away from its fixings.

The front Land Rover, rear Range Rover badges and Vogue decals all appeared smart. Exterior trim sections all appeared to be present and correct. Check out the exterior gallery and review video. We guide you through all areas of the car as if you were standing there yourself, so you can see in greater detail how the car is presented.

Interior

Featuring velour seats, wood accents, and a roomy cabin, it’s designed for comfort and rugged exploration, seamlessly blending luxury with adventure.

Seats and Carpets

The front seats are in great condition, the rear seats showed with minimal use or concern. Neither the front and rear seating sections show any major damage. All seats are finished in "Beige Moquet" (Brown) velour. Arm rests in the rear folded and stowed without issue.

The Land Rover is equipped with Range Rover heavy duty rubber matting, this showed well and without issues. Underneath these sections, the carpet area showed no issues to the drivers side, the front passenger side showed some wear to the base mats. Carpeted sections to the spacious boot reflected a great level of quality. We noticed a couple of points of wear on the passenger door cards too. We cover the cabin area of the Land Rover in more detail in our interior review video.

Dashboard

The grey leather dash looks to be in great condition, free from any significant marks. The dashboard presented really well, with no visible concerns or markings when we visited the car.

All the numbers and dials on the dash appeared clear and legible and showed ~127,112 miles on the clock when starting up. The gauges, switches, and controls all appeared to be in great condition, with surfaces free from fogging or scratching. Our interior gallery section offers a closer look at the dashboard.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A grey leather Range Rover steering wheel is in place, showing in great condition, with no signs of major damage or wear.

In the centre section, the automatic gear selector showed no concerns. Additional images of the cabin area, including the steering wheel, are available in our "Interior Gallery" section for more details on what the Vogue has to offer.

Mechanics

With a 3.9L V8 and advanced four-wheel drive system, it easily conquers rough terrain and city streets. This legendary SUV redefined adventure and luxury.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine appears to be in good visual condition, with no issues or unusual noises. We noted no issues from start-up either which we've highlighted in the cold start section of the "Mechanical Review" video. Camshafts and followers, timing gear and chain, head gasket set, front and rear main oil seals, thermostat, ignition leads and hoses have all been replaced in Andrew's ownership. A complete new exhaust system was also actioned in 2020.

Take a look at our "On the Road" video, where we cover the engine start-up and take the Land Rover around some local roads to learn more about the car.

Suspension and Brakes

We noted no knocks, bangs, or other issues with the suspension while on the road, and it gave us no concerns regarding its performance or handling. The Land Rover has had suspension upgrades completed in its current ownership. At the front; shock absorbers and swivel balls have been replaced. To the rear, new shock absorbers, hub bearings. Power steering hoses have also been replaced.

The car has also had underseal and corrosion inhibitor applied to most of the underbody components and panels. The rear discs, callipers, and pads have also been replaced during Andrew's ownership in 2022. We cover the underside of the car in our 'Mechanical Gallery' section. Head over to our video section, where we've summarised our visit in more detail for you to view. We take you through the mechanical elements of the car and give you an overview of what's on offer.

The Drive

Great handling in the Land Rover was observed, and it showed no issues on the road. We noted no pulling from the steering, juddering, or unwanted movements.

Andrew, the current owner, shares his experiences with us "Performance through the combination of the V8 engine and automatic transmission is just effortless".

Electrics and Other

All switches, dials, and gauges appear undamaged and in great condition.

There is an upgraded Sony stereo system in the cabin area, replaced in previous ownership, which we tested as working while out on the road. Andrew told us that he has had no issues with the electrical elements on the car and to the best of his knowledge, everything was working as it should.

History and Paperwork

Under ~1,000 miles covered in the last ~5 years, dry stored and considered mechanical maintenance, this Land Rover Range Rover is well set up for many more miles ahead.

The Land Rover is largely all standard with the addition of a battery cut-off and a tow-bar, which was upgraded before Andrew's ownership, although never used by him. During Andrew's ownership, the car has been dry-stored for the last ~6 years, and various works have been completed. These works include and engine rebuild that included camshaft and followers, head-gasket set, timing gear and chain, front and rear main oil seal replacements in May 2022. Other mechanical works, including the replacement thermostat, ignition leads, and hoses, were carried out in June 2022.

Rear discs, calipers, and pads were replaced in September 2022. The suspension turret kit and front shock absorbers were also upgraded in June 2022, and swivel balls were changed in July 2022. A complete exhaust change was actioned in March 2020. All body panels were removed, and any corroded sections of the metal were cut out. New panels were welded in place and treated for protection, with the rear arch liners and front footwells included in this restoration process.

Previous works and upgrades include: driver window repairs, drive belt tightening, all four-wheel alignment, new battery, new engine oil and filters in May 2018. Major servicing was completed in October 2017, track rod ends were changed in May 2015.

New discs, pads, and calipers, along with welding work, were carried out in May 2012. A reconditioned steering box was installed in March 2012, and electrical works including the distributor, HT leads, and plugs were completed in January 2012. Four new coils, shocks, and poly bushes were changed in February 2009. Welding work was actioned in June 2008.

Major servicing was completed in February 2007, mats and seat covers were serviced in August 2006, and suspension works were completed in March 2006. Fuel filter and assembly were serviced in June 2005. Major servicing, including manifold bolts, was carried out in December 2004. Major servicing was also completed in December 2003, with works to the roll bar and ball joints at the same time.

The Land Rover has a permanent note on its MOT history; '(EMISSIONS applied:1/8/92 and before 1/8/95 but are not included in the Annex. Serial number prior listed in Annex)' This is due to the car not having a catalytic converter fitted, so the car can pass an MOT with higher emissions because it was produced in the transition period afforded to Land Rover by the DVLA.

A full overview of the history behind the Land Rover is included as part of the paperwork gallery section.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check. Andrew will be more than happy to answer any questions you have about the car in the comments below.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
