Introduction

Jacob Boodrie
Professional Consigner

Unsurpassed passenger comfort—this Black Cab stands out from the rest with its walnut dashboard, intercom system, chrome features, Alpine sound system, and just ~3,300 miles from new.

The TXII Gold is a purpose-built London taxicab, powered by a 2.4L diesel engine and rear-wheel drive, manufactured between 2002 and 2006. Offered here is a TXII Gold that has covered a mere 3,300 miles from new. Previously owned by the Sultan of Oman as part of his vast vehicle collection in London, this is a top-of-the-range model featuring full air conditioning (front and rear), a walnut dashboard, a high-quality Alpine sound system (front and rear), two 6-CD changers, a chrome grille, chrome door handles, and a full intercom system.

A fold-down passenger seat has been fitted in the front, along with floor lighting and a fold-down wheelchair access ramp. This London Taxi International TXII Gold is now coming to market after ~10 months of ownership with our vendor. Having covered just ~3,300 miles from new, its condition reflects this exceptionally low mileage. It has been well maintained, regardless of how infrequently it has been used, and comes with a good amount of paperwork and service history. It comes with a current MOT valid until 13/11/2025.

This listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after meeting Jacqui the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

A throwback to the original Hackney cabs, I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this Taxi.

As a wheelchair user, Jacqui was first drawn to the car for its fold-down wheelchair ramp access. She explains, "I bought the car as it ticked so many boxes for me, with a built-in ramp and automatic gearbox. The exceptional turning circle, based on the original Hackney cabs for London, makes manoeuvring this car very easy".

The car has only had 4 former keepers, and Jacqui believes it belonged to a Sultan from Oman as part of a large car collection originally, hence the low mileage. She tells us now "With my health deteriorating, I am unable to load and unload the wheelchair myself without modifying the car, and so I have made the difficult decision to sell this lovely, original taxicab". Jacqui will be on hand to answer any questions about the car in the comments below.

Exterior

Instantly recognisable, this famous black taxicab is sure to turn heads... expect to be flagged down and asked for a lift!

Wheels and Tyres

The 16" wheels, finished in silver, look fantastic on this example and enhance its distinctive LTI black cab appeal. During our visit, the wheels appeared well cared for, with no obvious damage to the caps, though there are slight scuffs around the wheel centres.

The wheels are fitted with specialist Michelin XC4S taxi tyres, which also appear to be in great condition, with a good amount of tread remaining and no visible cracking or signs of ageing on the sidewalls. These tyres are dated 2011.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this TXII Gold is in great condition, as you would expect for a vehicle with just ~3,300 miles on the clock. All panel gaps appear well aligned. During our visit, we did not spot any obvious dents on the bodywork, just a few minor marks on the rear nearside door and arch.

We have provided detailed observations through our high-resolution images and videos. Please take the time to review all media files for a comprehensive view of what’s on offer and to assess the car’s condition for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in black, the paintwork is evenly applied with consistent colour across each panel. We did notice a small scuff on the driver’s door edge, though you would need to look closely to spot it.

Once again, we've captured high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the paint for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this TXII taxicab appears great and is in line with its low mileage. During our visit, we did not notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration. The window seals are also in good condition and complement the overall well-kept appearance of the car.

The bumpers, door handles, and window surrounds are all in great condition. Jacqui reports that the car has only been used in dry weather and stored under her carport when not in use. Once again, we have captured high-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the glass and trim in detail.

Interior

A top-of-the-range model featuring full air conditioning (front and rear), a fully remote Alpine sound system, floor lighting.

Seats and Carpets

The cloth seats provide exceptional comfort, along with the fold-down seats throughout the cabin. They have retained their shape very well over the years, as you would expect from a carefully cherished vehicle.

The same applies to the door cards and carpets, which remain in great condition. For a detailed view of the cabin, please take a look at the extensive media provided.

Dashboard

The dashboard is finished in black vinyl with an optional walnut trim and features three dials positioned in front of the driver.

The dashboard in this TXII taxicab shows no signs of major damage or scuffs, and there are no warning lights displayed. The odometer showed a reading of ~3,273 miles during our visit.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original steering wheel remains in great condition, reflecting the low mileage of this car, and the black automatic gearstick is also well preserved. For a closer look, check out the image gallery for further details.

Mechanics

Powered by the 2.4L Ford Duratorq diesel engine, this taxi delivers plenty of power and features steering for tight turning circles, an especially attractive feature of this model.

Engine and Gearbox

The 2.4L Duratorq engine from Ford powers this TXII Gold. During our visit, we started the car from cold, and it performed well on the road. The engine pulled nicely, idled smoothly, and ran without fault.

Jacqui reports that the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well, with its smooth automatic gearbox. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving, and for a closer inspection of the underside and the well-presented engine bay.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension appears to be in good condition, providing a smooth ride on the sweeping roads around Bath.

During our short test drive, the car performed exactly as expected for a taxicab of this era, coming to a stop effortlessly.

The Drive

The TXII Gold offers an extremely fun, enjoyable, and comfortable driving experience. Jacqui has thoroughly enjoyed her short period of ownership of this lovely LTI Black Cab.

The LTI TXII Gold started up first time with no issues to report. On the road with Jacqui’s partner, Dan, the car felt tight and responsive, exhibiting plenty of power to navigate the roads. We did not notice any unusual noises coming from the engine or suspension.

Electrics and Other

We didn’t test all the electrics during our visit, but Jacqui reports that, to her knowledge, everything is fully functional and operational, in line with the overall condition of the car. The vehicle is equipped with an upgraded Alpine sound system, dual air conditioning, and an intercom system.

History and Paperwork

A rare opportunity to own a low mileage taxi, just ~3,300 miles, 4 former keepers and in lovely low mileage condition.

The car is coming out of ~10 months of ownership with Jacqui and retains a high level of originality. Featuring a 2.4L Duratorq engine and an automatic gearbox, this top-of-the-range model is fully equipped with full air conditioning (front and rear), a walnut dashboard, a high-quality Alpine sound system (front and rear), two 6-CD changers, a chrome grille, chrome door handles, and a full intercom system.

Take a look at the history and paperwork media to view previous MOT reports, servicing records, and parts this TXII Gold has received over its lifetime. The TXII comes with a current MOT valid until 13/11/2025.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
