The 3200 is a gorgeous yet potent grand tourer with exclusivity, sports pedigree, and timeless Italian design.

The 3200 GT can be looked at as the saviour of Maserati in the 90s as it revived the brand. It was produced for 4 years between 1998 to 2002, before it was replaced by the 4200. Its futuristic boomerang style lights made the car unique, it was the first production car with LED taillights. The 3200 GT was not short on power either, with its twin-turbo double overhead camshaft V8 producing upwards of ~370BHP.

This example comes packed with a solid service history, including a recent cambelt change, and is finished in a stunning "Azzuro Argentina Blue" over blue leather interior.

Meet the owner

Tons of power from the twin-turbo V8, if I had to choose a modern classic for touring, it would have to be this 3200 GT.

James has a specialist collection of cars, buying and selling a selection of varied models. This sought-after 3200 GT with the boomerang rear lights, finished in the classic "Azzuro Argentina Blue" over blue leather interior with the auto gearbox, it ticked his long list of boxes.

Exterior

This GT is elegant and muscular with its unique details such as the boomerang shaped rear lights and bonnet vents.

Wheels and Tyres

The car rides on distinctive 10-spoke 18" alloys, fitted with N300 tyres, they look great on the 3200GT. The wheels appear in great condition with no major curb marks.

The tyres look good too, both sets are Nexen N300 dated 2007/08, they appear to have a good amount of tread on them.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks to be in great condition all around, with no major signs of corrosion, just a very small patch of bubbling on the rear offside arch and very small mark on the rear nearside bumper.

The panel fit of the doors and panels looks great across the car, and they open and shut with ease and a high-quality noise.

Paint

Finished in a glamorous "Azzuro Argentina Blue". The colour really suits the shape of the car and reflected nicely showing a deep lustre on our visit.

We did notice signs of newer paint on the car, to the front and rear bumper, along with the rear offside wing, areas that will have been attended to in the past in line with the age and mileage of the car.

Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks good, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration on our visit. The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

Interior

An all leather-lined interior finished in a complimentary blue, the cabin in this example is exactly what you'd expect from Maserati.

Seats and Carpets

The high-quality leather seats appear to be in very good condition. In line with the age and mileage of the car some slight signs of age in the form of creases starting to appear on the bolsters and seat cushions.

The carpets, headlining, and door cards presented very well on our visit.

Dashboard

A clean and simple affair with its traditional Jaeger clocks and typeface. The blue leather dashboard appears in great condition throughout and is free from any major cracks or wear.

James reports the instruments and controls are in good working order.

On the first start-up, a check engine light was present, however, after a manual reset the light switched off as seen in the "On The Road" video.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Inside you'll find the three-spoke Maserati sport steering wheel is fitted with the automatic gearstick. The steering wheel is suffering from the airbag cover material coming loose as pictured.

Mechanics

The twin turbochargers boost the 3.2L V8 power offering a wave of torque and offers an incredible pace.

Engine and Gearbox

At launch the ~370BHP quoted engine is rumoured to develop more power on rolling roads, however, Maserati didn't want to take the spotlight away from the Ferrari F355. On our initial cold start, the check engine light was present. James reset the car following Maserati's instructions, and after turning the V8 over again, the car started without the light.

Suspension and Brakes

James reports the 3200 GT rides very well. He reports any mechanical work required has always been carried out, which can be seen in the car's history.

The suspension and responsive brakes enable a great sense of connection with the car on road.

The Drive

The Maserati offers a very potent drive, ~370BHP to tap in, offering 0-60mph speeds of ~5.7 seconds. This is a really lively grand tourer ready for all the road trips. With its sophisticated and glamorous looks, we couldn't think of a better modern classic for the summer.

Electrics and Other

The car is one of the first production models with LED rear clusters, the boomerang taillights are a unique feature that gives the car quite a futuristic look - and a look that has aged well over the years.

James reports that the electrics are all in good working order and the electric windows operate smoothly.

History and Paperwork

A well-loved Maserati, this example finished in a triple blue colourway, a solid history file and recently serviced is just waiting to be driven this year.

Presented as a luxurious grand tourer, this example has had a cambelt service carried out last May. The car is finished in blue both inside and out, makes for an attractive package. James reports the car will be sold with a fresh 12 months MOT.
