Introduction

Kristina Leikaite
Professional Consigner

A step change for Maserati, the Sport GT variant is not for executives, it's a bonafide super saloon.

The Quattroporte V (M139) was introduced to the world in 2003, the platform later going on to be used for the GranTurismo. The Sport GT was first launched and sold in 2007, featuring a number of upgrades over the base model. These included revised suspension, gearbox and config, carbon fibre inserts throughout in place of wood, revised firmer suspension and upgraded braking and wheels. This transformed the car from its luxury saloon roots into a bit of a sleeper.

This example has just 4 former keepers, ~86,000 miles travelled, and comes in an ever popular black over cream colour combination. It presents in excellent condition having recently been professionally valeted for the sale.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Kristina after meeting Nigel the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

What a machine, you're hard pressed to find anything in this category that's as exotic and exciting as this for the price.

Nigel loves his Italian cars, the Quattroporte is a model that he's wanted for some time, in amongst his collection are some legendary cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale. This example caught his eye with the solid service history, excellent condition and attractive specification.

He is due to be emigrating out of the UK with is family, and as a result he isn't able to take all his cars with him and so it comes to sale with us. Nigel will be happy to answer your questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

A brand new design penned by Pininfarina, it has matured over time, only the wheels and calipers give away this cars secret.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with the factory 20" 7 spoke wheels, and matching low profile tyres, the design helps to show off the upgraded breaking system.

The wheels present in excellent condition, the paint looks great and we didn't observe any signs of curbing. Fitted with Michelin tyres all round, they look in great condition. Take a look at the photos and video review for a detailed view.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this car is vast in size, the chassis was 40cm longer than the Quattroporte before it, and the total length an extra 50cm. Pininfarina produced another masterclass with design, arguably there was as time when some thought it looked a little awkward, but the development of the model has meant it is now instantly recognisable for all the right reason.

The panel fit and shut-lines on this example look in great condition, and on our visit we didn't observe any defects. Watch the extensive video review to see the panels up close.

Paint

Finished in the Maserati colour of "Nero Carbono", the paint looks in excellent condition on this car. Even in colour, finish and coverage across all the panels. There are a few small stone chips on the front of the car, you'll have to look very closely to spot them.

Glass and Trim

Dark mesh trim and red accents came with the Sport GT. The trim looks in excellent condition, along with the glass across the car. The only thing we spotted to point out is some age showing on the rear nearside top window rubber seal.

Interior

Luxurious leather seats, but no wood in sight, a sporty twist in the shape of carbon fibre trim.

Seats and Carpets

Finished in leather, Maserati colour "Avorio" with contrast "Nero" stitching and piping on this example. The seats present in excellent condition, the show some wear in line with the mileage, but wear that looks like it could be remedied with coloniser etc.

Neptunes trident in place across all the headrests, the car is optioned with heated seats both in the front and in the back of the car. In addition to this, Alcantara headlining in matching colour was optioned on this car, with black carpets throughout.

Dashboard

Unmistakably a Maserati instrument cluster, the dials are finished in the classic blue colour the brand is familiar for. The centre console area is trimmed with carbon fibre instead of the typical wood you might expect on a saloon like this.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Optioned with the sports steering wheel, the black leather looks excellent, and the paddle shifters finished in metal give the car that extra special feel.

Mechanics

The Ferrari/Maserati V8 is the real star of this show, made better with the sports exhaust, ~400BHP taking you to 60MPH in 5.2 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

The 4.2L V8 fires up in to life on the first ask in our start-up video. The sports exhaust that came with the Sport GT are one of the biggest giveaways that there is some serious performance ready to be unleashed.

The gearbox on the Sport GT was reconfigured for quicker shifts and to push more performance out of the engine through to the rear wheels.

Suspension and Brakes

Revised Skyhook suspension came with the Sport GT, offering a firmer ride, this car was aimed firmly at the drivers market rather. The car also featured an uprated braking system too, with drilled discs and braided brake lines across the car.

The Drive

This is a car to drive, it's not for sitting in the back and being a passenger. The chassis set-up coupled with the V8 power unit results in an experience that leads you to really drive this car, rather than just cruise in it.

Electrics and Other

Electric seats in the front, with heating functionality across both the front and back sets, this example was also optioned with a sunroof. Nigel reports that everything is working on the car as it should to his knowledge, and that the car comes with 2 keys.

History and Paperwork

Presented in excellent condition, just 4 former keepers with ~86,000 miles travelled, this Nero Carbono over Avorio example provides a lot of car for the money.

Recently serviced and prepped for sale, the car comes with a solid history file showing how it's been serviced from new. The black over cream colour and excellent condition make it an example that stands out from the crowd. Optioned with colour matching Alcantara headlining and sunroof, the cabin on this car is a great place to be.

We've actioned checks on; Seller ID, V5C, HPi.

Hi there

Can you shed any light on subframe condition?

Thanks

Good morning Peter, When the car was on the ramps recently for wheel alignment and mot i was surprised how clean it was underneath. It flew through its test and the mot guy said it had no problems…Sub frame and mounts are solid. When the car was fully serviced a couple of weeks back by Lee at ‘Hanger 18’ Stockton (Maserati/Ferrari Mechanic) he said it was all perfect (and he is meticulous and would flag anything).
Hope that helps…The car is wonderful to drive.

Hi, The variators have had no mods. They function perfectly and the car has been fully checked and service by a Ferrari/Maserati mechanic at Hanger 18.

Let me know if you require any further info.
