Introduction

Characterized by its tumultuous V8 engine and barrel-chested styling, Maserati finally perfected the GT.

At its launch in 2009, the GranTurismo balanced lines and perfect poise was a welcome return to the drama that is reminiscent of the classic ’50s and '60s designs. The traditional Maserati hallmark of near-perfect front-to-rear weight distribution with a marginal rearward bias is balanced by the Ferrari-built 4.7-litre V8 soundtrack.

The thunderstorm of the V8 engine is simply one of the most glorious noises you’ll ever hear in a production car. This is matched by one of the best handling Maseratis to leave Modena. The GrandTurismo encompasses the passion of the brand within a comfortable and roomy environment, whilst maintaining a high level of quality and desirability. Surely that’s all you’ll ever need in a car?

This 2019 Maserati GranTurismo Sport comes to you in near perfect condition, with just over 4,000 miles on the clock. The Sport features a unique MC Stradale-inspired front fascia, revised headlights, wheels, updated steering wheel and Alcantara seats, finished with the legendary Trident Logo Stitched on Front & Rear Headrests. The new pedals and paddle shifters have been taken from the Trofeo race car.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn Parry after meeting Keith the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

It's always been a boyhood dream to own a Maserati, and I love the colour and shape of this one.

Keith remembers what his wife said to him when returning home with the car for the first time... "I could hear you coming from miles away!". As we mentioned before, this Maserati with its "Ferrari built" V8 engine has all the drama you'd expect from an Italian sports car.

Having owned the car for a year, Keith has enjoyed it on the weekends and trips to work when the weather is fine and dry. He took it down to Cornwall for a holiday in the summer this year, and had similar comments from admirers, "What an unbelievable noise from the engine". Now though, with a house move to the country with a smaller storage space, the car is up for auction with us.

Exterior

It's like your favourite film. A combination of action, quality, style and a glorious soundtrack.

Wheels and Tyres

The graphite MC Stradale 20" wheels finished in black really look the part on this car. Some clever yet subtle design touches like the trident design at the end of the spokes, and the brakes on display, pure theatre.

The Pirelli P-Zero tyres mated to the wheels are in excellent condition, with no damage to the alloys, and a well above thread depth.

Bodywork

A spectacular design, a blend of curves and sharp lines make this car look fast even when standing.

As to be expected on a just over a year old, the bodywork is as new. The condition is virtually out of the showroom, with all shut-lines and panel gaps being correct and tight.

Paint

The paint is in superb condition, the blue sophisticated hue really making a striking impression. There a handful of minor issues, including light brushing on the front and a little on the near-side rear wing arch. These are treatable without a respray. There are also a handful of stone chips up front.

Glass and Trim

No notable issues with the glass and the trim. The car is furnished with several Carbon-fibre items which are all unmarked. There is a small mark on the driver's door footplate, where the lacquer has come off, but overall the car is in as a new condition.

Interior

Swathed in leather and Alcantara, the quality really comes through.

Seats and Carpets

A lavish reception awaits the new potential owner here. The seats cannot be faulted, with the carpets in equally good condition. The images may show up some dirt on the mats but that is the extent of issues.

The cabin is finished in a mix of leather and Alcantara, along with some fitting carbon fibre trim. Neptunes trident features on each of the headrests in yellow, this matches the yellow contrast stitching across the cabin.

Dashboard

Similarly, the dashboard, controls, dials and switches are as new. The stitching across the interior of the car is perfect, with everything working as you might hope for.

The carbon fibre trim across the dashboard really completed the finishing in the car.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

For a car with such low mileage, you can expect nothing but a perfect steering wheel and gearknob.

Again, trimmed with carbon fibre, the sports steering wheel (with centre marking) looks the part.

Mechanics

The V8 emits a wonderfully cacophonous growl while pushing 454BHP to the rear wheels.

Engine and Gearbox

The heart of the car is as strong and fierce as the day it left the factory. It's worth watching the 'On the Road' just to hear the roar of the engine. As to be expected there are no issues to be reported.

Suspension and Brakes

The running gear components are in as new condition, with no reported issues with the brakes and suspension.

The Drive

The 4.7-litre V8 makes 454BHP of unadulterated power is connected to the MC AutoShift Automatic gearbox. The supple ride and planted grip contribute the balanced handling. Maserati has produced a genuine rival to the German GT cars, with this sharply dressed Pininfarina styled beauty.

Electrics and Other

No reported problems or issues have been reported, with every item said to be functional.
