Introduction

Rare coupe, in an amazing colour combination - cream with red interior.

I've owned it for approximately 4 years. This is a reluctant sale, but the loss of storage, a house move, and having to fund a business project combine to force my hand.

Market Auction

Tamir, the seller, has created this listing themselves using our free Market Auction tool. Unlike our Curated Auctions, we haven’t photographed the car or written the listing, however we have completed 3 important security checks for your peace of mind.

V5C Checked

Tamir provided a copy of the V5C logbook, which we verified against his photo ID for name and address confirmation.

Exterior

Cream paintwork complements the beautiful curves of this elegant design masterpiece, accentuated by the chrome bumpers and trim which are all present.

Wheels and Tyres

205/70/14 original size tyres ensure maximum comfort, all with excellent tread and no damage. They're mounted on Mercedes steel wheels in good condition, with some minor imperfections.

Bodywork

The bodywork is, on the whole, in good condition, with no accident damage, dents, or scratches. There are 2 areas of small bubbles on the paint as highlighted in the images.

The underside has no rot, and the sills & floorpans are solid, as are door shuts, tailgate, inner wings and around the bulkhead.

The inner and outer arches are in all good condition. There are some age related imperfections to the chrome work, and the rear passenger side corner chrome piece has a scratch to the underside.

Paint

This car arrived from a dry state in the U.S. and has been dry stored in the U.K., so there's no paint fade or cracking. The paint is even throughout, and has a deep shine after a polish.

Minor cosmetic imperfections include the tailgate above the rear bumper area and miscellaneous marks as to be expected on a car this age.

This is overall a perfectly presentable example.

Glass and Trim

Front & rear screens are free of chips / damage. The headlight and taillight lenses are in good condition with no misting or cracks.

The headlight indicator lens is loose but functional.

There's wear to the chrome trim surrounding the glass and both screens.

Interior

Eye catching deep red interior with matching steering wheel, gear knob, and newly fitted carpet and headliner.

A mixture of chrome, red seats, and wood create a luxurious feel in the cabin.

Seats and Carpets

Re-trimmed in 2023 with a high quality vinyl, which is the nearest match to MB-Tex. It's finished in red with red stitching, and remains in excellent condition with no blemishes.

The newly fitted black carpet has had little use since fitment so is still in good condition.

All seat mechanisms work as they should.

There is some wear around edges if headliner around the sunroof.

Dashboard

Finished in dark wood and matching red dash top, the dashboard is all in good condition.

The glovebox wood has a different finish of wood as can be seen in the images. The wood has some age related wear.

The car retains its original Blaupunkt stereo and vdo clock.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is in good condition, and is finished in a cream matching the body - whilst the centre is trimmed in red matching the seats. The chrome frame has light marks but presents well, and the gear knob in great condition in a matching cream.

Mechanics

Starts and drives great for a car of its age, with sharp brakes, light steering and a smooth sounding engine. Despite being mot exempt there is a valid mot until April 2025.

Engine and Gearbox

Within the last 2 years the car has had a major service including belts, plugs, fluids, and distributor / rotor arm. Earlier this year the Injectors were ultrasonically cleaned and new HT leads were fitted, along with ignition coil and plugs.

Gear changes are smooth and the engine starts up and sounds as it should.

Suspension and Brakes

There are no unwanted noises when driving and suspension clearly does its job resulting in a comfortable ride.

The brakes were given a check over in 2022 and deemed to be operating well, and of course the recent MOT test also confirms this.

The Drive

As with all classic cars it does need a few minutes to warm up, and is then a pleasure to drive. It's comfortable, with light steering.

It has been used on the motorway and keeps up admirably with modern traffic.

Electrics and Other

All the dials work. The fans do work but are weak. All lights work and the car is perfectly road legal as its MOT status confirms.

History and Paperwork

Some original handbooks present.

Current MOT valid until April 2025.

Included are the import papers, log book, invoice for mechanical/ bodywork / interior work carried out, original operational instructions for Becker radio & original handbook.

From Trade Classics:

This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
