Introduction
Stuart
Coming fresh from a long term ownership period of over twenty years - this original UK car is a perfect investment to use and improve over time.
Introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, and produced from 1963 through 1971. This 230 SL is an example of the two-door convertible series that became an absolute stalwart for Mercedes-Benz over the years.
This particular example has been owned by Simon for the last twenty years and had a full body restoration and engine work soon after purchase. Naturally with an older restoration there is some work required, however, the car has been priced accordingly with a very attractive reserve that will give the new owner room to spend and improve.
As the saying goes, you can't change history and this car has an excellent level - everything else can be improved / fixed to make this car even more desirable in today's buoyant classic market.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Stuart after meeting Simon the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi Simon, what condition is the soft top in and do have the hard top
Soft top is in very good condition, no rips tears, holes. I have the hard top, is that not shown in the pictures and video? It is in good shape apart from the inside bottom edge has rusted away! That should be shown on the pictures and videos too .
Hi, can I please see some photos of obvious areas of corrosion which are now showing and any other items needing work.
Thank you, Gordon Walton
Are there any areas that I can show you that are not covered in the entry. How do I send you photographs? I will try. When you say needing work, what standard do you wish to achieve? I would say there is nothing needing work but there are some areas of bodywork corrosion and a few paint nicks. The switch on the end of the indicator stalk is broken. Some chrome is not perfect but only needs work if you are going for perfection.
