Introduction
Glyn Parry
Small car, big engine, and drop-top make for a lot of fun in the sun, this edition transformed the SLK.
The AMG department has done it again, this time squeezing a whopping 5.4L V8 into a small SLK AMG-styled body. The car is equipped with a naturally aspirated V8 producing ~360BHP. Due to its weight, the SLK is a proper driver-focused car with superb acceleration and pace making its great fun to drive on the road or track.
The car is equipped with a very attractive AMG body kit, larger wheels, and some exquisite detailing to set it apart from the standard SLK's. With its Mercedes-Benz build quality, this car is an ideal roadster for those warm summer months.
This car is coming to market from ~3 year ownership, the current owner is a previously trained Mercedes-Benz mechanic. It comes with a solid service history, these 05 55's attract lower road tax than the later cars and are equipped with better brakes too.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting James the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hello
Has the car ever had the head gaskets replaced that you know of? Any signs of leakage?
Has gearbox oil and filter been changed?
Can you give a guide as to reserve price?
Thanks
Good Afternoon
To my knowledge there has been no head gasket issues with the car, I think the head issues are on the 63 amg engines not the 55.
The rocker cover gaskets however are a known issue on the 55 and these have been replaced and there is documents showing this in the history section.
All other known service information is in this section as well.
As for the reserve price I do not know trades classics ruling in sharing the reserve price but I am happy for them to provide that information if it is allowed

James
Good evening.
There was a significant number of advisories on the last mot, 10 in total, it needs 4 new tyres, coil springs and has a leak. Have these been addressed?
Cheers
Hello, thank you for your interest.
As you can see from the mileage the mot was done not long before these photos and the listing was created.
I feel the mot test station was extremely harsh on the mot which was also expressed by the consignment that came to inspect the vehicle and took the photos.
As you can see in the underbody pictures the corrosion to the springs is very minimal and this was also not commented on by the previous MOT and the vehicle had not covered many miles between the two.
You can also see the condition of the tyres in the photos and even though the MOT states the tyres are low tread, the service paperwork (from the same garage!! Different person) state there is 4/5mm left, when the legal minimum is 1.6mm.
As for the “oil leak” this has not been looked by a garage at however I can confirm that the car has not needed to be topped up between servicing, and the oil is electronically monitored through the dash to take out human error of reading a dipstick incorrectly. The vehicle had been serviced at the same garage who did the MOT and I wonder if they did not clean off the sump before handing the car to the MOT tester.
I hope that my explanation goes some way to reassuring any potential bidders.
Kind regards
James
Hi James
Is there any corrosion/bubbles on bodywork? I think the early cars had issues with poor paintwork.
Does the air conditioning work?
Thanks
Good Afternoon
There are no rust spots on the paintwork, I believe it is the R170 chassis that suffer from this the R171 I think is okay.
The air conditioning works as it should
