Introduction
Dom Ginn
A real gem - MG made just 421 of these Limited Edition MGB Roadster models finished in metallic bronze with GKN alloy LE wheels.
The MG MGB first came about in 1962 and was produced until 1980, the soft-top sports car formula of the MGB stayed relatively simple throughout. A B-series engine produced 98BHP at 5400RPM, a big step up from its origins. The good looks, honest charm, and simple mechanics made it hugely successful, shortly becoming Britain's best-selling sports car. Not only are these cars incredibly fun to drive, they look great with their classic styling.
This 'Limited Edition' was a special run of cars built before MG closed in 1980 - they were all made between August and October of 1980 and were stockpiled until the factory closed, they first were released for sale in 1981. This particular model are usually known as the last of the proper MGs, therefore making them highly desirable.
This MGB is a 1982 registered example, presented in bronze metallic coachwork along with its 'deckchair' style interior and black convertible hood. The car has low mileage at only ~23,000 and comes with continuous MOT history dated back to 1985 - a genuine example for a collector; we think.
This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting David the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

May make an offer.I am awaiting photos to be taken of my 1966 MGB roadster. If I was able to buy this car would you be able to store it until my sale is completed.due to garage space.I await your response
Yes I could store the car for you.
Dear David, In view of the several questions regarding paintwork, and referring to the boot area there is fairly clear evidence that work has been done in the past in that area.
See the photographs inside the boot and compare the different colour of the nearside wheel arch to that of the offside,
The panel behind the rear number plate has certainly been done.
In view of this it may be worthwhile to have a word with the previous owner (if possible) and obtain a truthful account.
Without an accurate account could result in potential bidders turning away.
If you do speak with the previous keeper, it may also be useful to ask about the painted panel across the inside of the engine bay, at the front of the bonnet – this has definitely been painted, and some items replaced. This does suggest work to repair damage.
I apologise if these questions appear picky, however they have a direct bearing on the success or failure of this sale.
As you know buyers have no protection after the event, it is therefore important to have all the information beforehand.
Regards – Anthony.
The rear panel behind the number plate was repaired and repainted by the last owner, some colour differences. The boot floor and wings are all original.
is the MG ULEZ compliant
The car is UKEZ compliant, no payment due.
Hi David
May I ask, as there are no photos of inside the boot. And it looks as if the rear has had spray work.
Are all the seams and welds original? and is the boot floor straight with no signs of distortion?
Regards Ian
I have no knowledge of any prior paint work in the area of the bonnet release, all looks original especially the panels. The bonnet slam has had some paint in its life but has not been replaced or damaged.
Hi
I notice in the interior photos there is a picture of the panel where the bonnet release is located. I notice there appears some considerable overspray in this area – release pull handle – rectangular grommet – pipes/ cables all have evidence of overspray – an unusual area to have required painting so wondered if you have any knowledge / explanation for this. I also notice some paint on the bonnet slam panel – evidently labels seem
To have been painted around and again wonder if you can comment ?
Hello David, Please can you tell me if you are aware that the car has been subject to a respray (Either within your ownership or the previous)
There is visual evidence on some of the photographs that show an ‘Orange peel’ finish, this is particularly so on pictures relating to the front inner fender, and the panel behind the rear number plate. Clearly this will detract from originality, however the variance in colour shading is clear to see, on several other panels.
Any truthful advices would be much appreciated.
Thank you. – Tony.
Good evening Tony, I have not had any paint work done during my ownership, the previous owner did the rear panel behind the rear number plate and there is some variance in colour to that area.. The remainder of the paint work is mainly original and there isn’t variance in colour, the photographs where taken on a very sunny day and that is why the colour looks different in some areas because of the light reflection. The finish is much as would be expected on an 80’s British Leyland vehicle.
Hello David,
Thankyou for your message, obviously you can’t be responsible for any paintwork completed by the previous owner, The panel behind the rear number plate has clearly been painted, also the area across the front cross member (bonnet up)
around the various adhesive signs.
Did you install a new protective grille (front of radiator) the original ones were black.
To your knowledge has the vehicle has any repair work to the front offside wing.
Do you know if the ‘Stag’ design wheels have been refurbished – The colour scheme is different to the factory issue, (Where they are painted grey, it would be black, and the securing nuts would be chrome not black.)
Has the ashtray been painted – factory ones were black- the current one looks like a silver paint colour has been used.
Finally is there a tool kit and Jack, and a Tonneau cover included.
I apologise for being selective, however I feel sure that you will receive other similar enquiries – the photographs are good and promote scrutiny.
I accept that the car is from 1981 and accordingly must take on board acceptable useage conditions.
Kind regards – Tony.
Hi Tony, I have not replaced any parts, the car is as I purchased it. The wheels are as originally supplied but they have been refurbished with the spokes grey and not black. I am not sure if the ashtray has been replaced at some point.
The car has its original jack, half and full tonneau, as well as the original soft top.
