Introduction

A thing of beauty. The car is finished in the most desirable colour of 'Oxford Blue'.

It comes with the original MG radio cassette but think there is a cassette stuck in it. The wonderful sound of the V8 engine is better than any music! I bought the car in July 2019. The reason for selling it is I have just bought a motorhome and will have less time to drive it. It comes with an MOT valid until 31.07.2025

Exterior

You can look at the car from any angle and it’s a true stunner. Every time I drive it I get admiring glances as it’s a real head turner.

Wheels and Tyres

The alloy wheels are in good condition as are the tyres.

Bodywork

The bodywork is sound all round and I only have ever driven it in the dry. There is a slight ding on the offside wing where my bicycle’s brake handle caught it in my garage. You may not notice this but feel I have to mention it. The car is kept in a dry garage.

Paint

The 'Oxford Blue' paintwork is good throughout and polishes up well.

Glass and Trim

The glass is good and although the plastics inside shows it’s age, this adds to the character of the car.

Interior

The leather seats are extremely comfortable.

Seats and Carpets

The seats show signs of its age but are in remarkably good condition. The carpets are very good.

Dashboard

All the dials work as they should and look great in the wooden dashboard.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel is as it should be and is very comfortable to hold. The leather gaiter around the gear lever matches the seats.

Mechanics

This MG is mechanically sound. In the time I have owned it I have entrusted the care of it to a classic car garage who have serviced and MOT’d it.

Engine and Gearbox

The car starts first time and although I have never driven it quickly, it goes smoothly through the gears and would be capable of rapid acceleration.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension works well and I had new front brake discs and pads fitted in the July 2024 service.

The Drive

Every time I drive the MG it puts a smile on my face. It doesn’t have power steering but it isn’t needed when you’re on the open road. The burble of the V8 engine is a joy!

Electrics and Other

The electrics are reliable and the aircon works effectively, although it isn’t needed when the hood is down.

It comes with the original MG radio cassette but I think there is a cassette stuck in it.

History and Paperwork

There is a file that came with the car from when it was first exported to Japan. It contains a lot of paperwork.

The paperwork contains details of the servicing and MOT’s. The speedo had been changed from kmh to mph and as such I cannot guarantee the mileage. The engine is a large one in a small car so feel it hasn’t suffered much wear and tear.

There are receipts and invoices going way back. It looks like it had a new fuel tank fitted in 2018. It comes with an MOT valid until 31.07.2025

The car doesn’t have a private registration number.

Hi David, the car came with all the paperwork from when it was in Japan. It looks like it came back to the UK via Hong Kong.

What condition is the soft top please, any rips, tears or damage ?

The soft top is blue to match the car and it looks good when up. There are signs of age from the inside as it looks like there are marks on the fabric which may be from the frame or perhaps it had been rained on when it was in Japan. I can’t see any tears and assume it’s waterproof. I have never driven it in the wet.
