Everyone loves a Mini right... no one more so than the original owner of this one, in the loving care of one owner from new.

Based on the Mini City, the Mayfair was built between 1982 - 1996, fitted with blue velour interior, Mayfair decals, and a sprightly 998cc that will happily reach 70MPH.

The Mini started the small car revolution in the UK. There's a cheeky quality of these classic Mini that's impossible to replicate. The Mini is a car that was built for the people, a car that is extremely versatile and practical for day-to-day motoring while being able to deliver in racing with its go-cart-like handling. From launch, the Mini was a huge success, 5.4 million Minis were bought over the 41 years of production, and it still remains the best-selling British car of all time.

This example is presented in excellent condition, given the ~26,000 miles covered over the course of its life, and being in the possession of the original owner from new. Coming with the original bill of sale and a documented provenance showing how those miles have been added over time and condition to match, this isn't your usual Mini so make sure you take a further look.

Meet the owner

I'm a big Mini enthusiast, always on the search for rare and collectible models to bring to market.

David is a trade seller, and a connoisseur when it comes to all things Mini, having owned quite a few over his time. This particular car has come from ~40 years ownership with the previous owner and will be MOT/Tax-exempt in December. It's been garaged its whole life which explains the condition, and flew through a recent MOT, it's definitely one of the best Mayfair's he's seen in some time.

Being a Mayfair, it comes with a luxurious interior when it comes to Mini's, with plush blue velour trim to pair nicely with the black exterior and white decals. The car has a well documented history showing regular servicing and stacks of MOTs, the car has barely covered ~1,000 miles in the last 20 years. Exterior

An unmissable silhouette, this iconic Mini Mayfair with black coachwork and steel wheels has bags of originality.

Wheels and Tyres

The Mayfair was equipped with 10" wheels from factory, featuring Mayfair center caps. The wheels on this example look to be in good usable condition with some slight signs of surface corrosion being original un-restored examples. A light refurb would bring them up to a great standard.

The wheels are wrapped in Falken Sincera SN-807's dated 2007 at the front and at the rear you'll find Kings Tires which appear a little more dated than the front pair, but with a good amount of tread.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this Mini looks in very good condition considering it is an original example, with all the panel gaps around the car looking to align well. David mentions that the panels are all original and there were no welding repairs.

You'll notice from the photo gallery and video review a few minor pin dents, one on the bonnet, and two down the side of the nearside door. If you know about these classic Mini's, then you'll be familiar with where corrosion can set it. On this example due to the mileage, garaged and under sealing to both underside and cavities carried out by the the supplying dealer there isn't much to point out; a small area just in-front of the drivers side door, and just below the rear window on the same side, a very small area towards the wheel arch where the front panels meet on the nearside.

Paint

Finished in a deep and glossy black paint, the colour of the car looks smart from every angle. On our visit, we did swirl marks which would come out with a deep polish, this is an un-restored low mileage example after all. The paint appears in line with the age and mileage of the car and still shows good lustre across each panel.

Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks great, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or discolouration on our visit. The window seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The chrome bumpers, grille, door, boot handles, and window surrounds all look in good condition, no doubt benefitting from being garaged.

Interior

A plush Mayfair velour trimmed cabin, a highly original interior even featuring the stock factory fitted radio.

Seats and Carpets

The Mini's cabin features light blue soft-touch seats throughout, which have really stood the test of time and present very well in line with the age and mileage of the car. With cloth seats on a car of this age, you'll often see wear, but not on this example. The original owner has clearly treated this car with respect.

A similar story is told with the headlining, door cards and carpets, reflecting the cars low mileage over the past 40 years. Please have a look at the interior gallery and video for a detailed tour.

Dashboard

A classic two-dial set up with speed, fuel, and oil temp present and reported to be working. Heater controls are found in the center console with the original radio still fitted to the left.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a classic Mayfair steering wheel, allowing the driver easy maneuvering of this city car.

Both the four-speed gear stick and steering wheel appear in good condition.

Mechanics

A fiesty 998cc 4-pot keeps up remarkably well with modern traffic, the classic Mini is a go-kart for the road!

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with Mini's classic 998cc inline-four engine, a very reliable and practical choice that packs 40BHP which works well when paired to the small nature of this car.

We captured a cold start video, showing after a few turns of the key and choke adjustment this Mini started from cold and drove smoothly along the road. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around the street, and for a closer look underneath.

Suspension and Brakes

A defining aspect of the Mini is its rubber-cone suspension system, which requires very little maintenance.

David reports this Mini has always been mechanically looked after, which is evident from the extensive paperwork from the one and only custodian. David also mentions the brakes and suspension provide an enjoyable journey with the kind of stopping power you'd expect from a classic Mini.

The Drive

Iconic looks and a fun driving experience that often feels faster than you might be going, the perky nature really set the Mini apart from other city cars.

A fresh MOT has been actioned recently, the car has barely covered ~1,000 in the last 20 years, but still been kept up to date with MOTs etc. Much of the mileage was earlier in the cars life as documented by the service book and invoices.
