The motoring legend that needs no introduction - there's a lot to like about this Mayfair example finished in iconic British Racing Green - arguably the ultimate run-around.

As everyone knows, the Mini is a car that was built for the people, a car that is extremely versatile and practical for day-to-day motoring while being able to deliver on the track with its go-cart-like handling. From launch, the Mini was a huge success, 5.4 million Minis were bought over its 41 years of production life, and it still remains the best-selling British car of all time.

This Mayfair example was produced in 1995 making it a later Mark VI, with internal bonnet release and mechanical tweaks over its predecessor - powered by the iconic 1.3L inline-four.

The Mayfair was a special edition Mini from the 'London Collection', based on the Mini City, the car came equipped with Windsor velour interior, coachlines with Mayfair badging, 12" alloys, opening rear side windows, radio, head restraints, locking fuel cap, tachometer, front disc brakes, and a brake servo.

Gregor has thoroughly enjoyed his Mini ownership, originally planning to restore the car to a concourse condition, unfortunately, he can't find the time to give the car the attention it deserves. He is often stopped when out and about and mentions what a great conversation starter such an iconic car is.

What can I say - who doesn't love a characterful Mini.

Gregor has owned this lovely British Racing Green Rover Mini Mayfair since last summer and enjoyed using it occasionally on the weekend with the odd commute to keep the car running regularly. Gregor works from home now, and therefore the car is seeing little use, as well as struggling to find free time to undertake any further renovation. He has replaced the internal window rails on both doors, replaced some trim, and applied rust treatment to some light corrosion to prevent any further degradation.

Exterior

The Mini is iconic for its small and quirky body shell, which remained very similar to its origins - the classic for any occasion.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with small 12" Mayfair alloys - all the wheels look in great shape, and would just benefit from a deep clean and polish, to really bring them out.

The small and intricate wheels are wrapped in Falken Ziex rubber, which presents in great condition, dated 2017. Have a look at the photos and videos we've taken to see the wheels and tyres in more detail.

Bodywork

The bodywork looks overall good on this iconic classic Mayfair. All the panels appear straight and flush with even panel gaps. When capturing the car we did notice some areas of light corrosion, to the front offside wing, both doors, a small patch of bubbling under the windscreen, and under the O/S front headlight.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in British Racing Green, the paint appears to be even in colour and coverage across each panel - we did notice a little area of touch-up on the A-pillar and some matting on the bonnet.

Again, please take time to review all the images and videos showing the paint from different angles and reflections, to assess the condition for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

The glass looks in great condition on this example, with no chips or discoloration noticed. The headlights and indicators look in good clean and clear condition.

We did notice a small area of overspray on the A-pillar and some areas of pitting on the chrome bumpers.

Interior

Being a special edition Mayfair, the interior of this Mini was lined with elegant Windsor velour upholstery and a wooden burl dashboard trim.

Seats and Carpets

Windsor velour upholstery lines the interior of this quirky Mini Mayfair. The seats, carpets, and door cards appear in great condition, and nicely represent the relatively low mileage this car has.

Dashboard

The interior looks great on this Mayfair example and appears inline with the mileage of the car, free from cracks or major wear.

Gregor reports all the dials, gauges, and buttons are working as expected. Please take a look at the photos and videos for a closer look.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with a classic Mini steering wheel, allowing the driver easy maneuvering of this city car.

Both the automatic gear stick and steering wheel appear in great condition in line with the rest of the interior.

Gregor reports that although the car does not have power steering, the steering is light and corners very well.

Mechanics

Engine and Gearbox

Mini's classic 1275cc inline-four engine is fitted; a very reliable and practical choice that packs a considerable punch on all road types.

Gregor reports the car starts from cold with no issues and drives well with its smooth automatic gearbox. Take a look at the mechanical video to see the car starting from cold, driving around town, and for a closer look underneath.

Suspension and Brakes

Gregor assures us there's no issues with the brakes or suspension.

One of the most defining aspects of the Mini is its rubber-cone suspension system, which requires very little maintenance.

The Drive

The perky nature of the Mini really set it apart from the crowd at the time of launch. This small car is extremely fun and offers a very enjoyable drive.

Gregor loves using the car regularly as a run-around on the weekends.

Electrics and Other

The Mini is fitted with uprated speakers and a CarPlay 7" touchscreen head unit on the dashboard.

Gregor reports that to his knowledge all of the electrics are functional and operational, in line with the rest of the condition of the car, apart from the front grill Wipac spotlights which haven't been wired in.

A good level of care over the years, along with low mileage and being a special edition Mayfair, makes this a great choice of usable classic for any occasion.

Gregor has enjoyed ownership of this Mini for the previous 6 months - he's covered fewer than 1000 miles over his ownership and enjoyed it as a usable and practical classic on the weekends. He's received several very positive comments from passers-by and mentions it's a great conversation starter wherever he decides to park it.

Gregor was planning on carrying out a full restoration of the car over the winter. However due to lack of time he decided it's now time to let it go, and find someone who will enjoy the car in its very usable condition or restore it further.
