The Mini Cooper, all those classic looks but with a bit more punch under the hood.

We always get a little excited when we see a Mini come through our door, and this example owned by Malachy is no different.

Finished in Tahiti Blue, and coming out of one year ownership, this Cooper has been upgraded; running at 1,293cc having been bored out, single point twin injection, Minisport cylinder head with roller rockers (1.5:1). A pocket rocket.

I have enjoyed using the car, whizzing about town, but now it's time to find it a new home.

Malachy has owned the car for the last year as a little runaround. During his ownership, he's made sure that the car has been dry stored in a garage, helping to prolong its life.

Exterior

A smart little run around, this one a Tahiti Blue version, fitted with all the lights looks just the part.

Wheels and Tyres

12” wheels with the Mini Cooper centre badge and dust caps fitted with Falken tyres all around. The tyres have covered very few miles, and look in great condition.

The wheels are in good condition with some minor marks, take a look through the photos to see the full details.

Bodywork

Coming with the sports pack arches to give that rally-style look, the car grabs your attention from the get go. The panel gaps/shut lines on the doors look good on this car, the bonnet needing a bit of adjustment as you often see.

Mini's can be notorious for accumulating rust in the usual weak. This example doesn't look to be suffering from these. The underside looks to have been professionally cleaned and coated at some point, take a look through the photos.

Paint

Tahiti Blue with a contrasting silver roof creates a classic colour scheme that we are used to with Minis.

Overall the paint is in good condition, even and correct across the car. To keep the car in good condition, Malachy has kept it in storage and kept it out of bad weather. There are some bits of the paint that are showing signs of age on closer inspection, the odd nick here and there, take a look through the media to see the details.

Glass and Trim

All in very smart condition with no issues. The chrome on the bumpers and wing mirrors are in excellent condition but there is some pitting occurring on some small bits like the GB badge.

Interior

All the dials you need to keep control of and monitor this pocket rocket.

Seats and Carpets

Black Alton Vinyl seats are in excellent condition, the headrests are included as part of the sale but have not been fitted.

Carpets are also in excellent condition and is a testament to Malachy's caring ownership.

Dashboard

The metal dashboard looks good, a sporty feel to the look with the turned metal finish. The dials and gauges all look good, the previous owners and Malachy have really made this Mini their own.

A modern stereo has been added with CD / AUX capabilities.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

An aftermarket 3-spoke steering wheel has been fitted to match the colour-way of the interior, it looks in excellent condition.

A matching gear stick with metal head looks in great condition also.

Mechanics

A bigger engine with a sportier ECU installed amongst other upgrades, ready for a Mini adventure.

Engine and Gearbox

During 2015, the engine and other areas of the car were upgraded. The 1,275cc engine has been bored out to 1293cc with single point twin injection and a Delta 400 ECU. A Minisport cylinder head (painted in cooper sport blue), roller rockers and starter motor were also added, and recently the Mini has had a service with new oil and engine filters.

Reconditioned and fitted in 2019, the 4-speed manual gearbox works as expected Malachy informs us.

Suspension and Brakes

The underside of the car looks great, just the odd bit of surface rust visible. The Mini has front wishbone suspension with trailing rear, whilst standard disc brakes are in good order.

A new handbrake cable has been fitted recently, and Malachy informs us that the car rides like you'd expect of a Mini Cooper.

The Drive

People often describe the driving experience as Go-kart-esque. They're great for those small journeys, but they also are a nimble drive that'll give you a lot of smiles per mile.

Electrics and Other

Malachy informs us that all the electrics are working as they should do, no known faults to him.

History and Paperwork

A lovely little Mini Cooper, with some sportier upgrades under the hood, ready for a new owner.

Coming with some invoices detailing minor repairs and parts as well as the seller's V5 checked. Most importantly, the invoices regarding the engine work in 2015 are present. Having gone round the clock, the estimated current mileage is ~120,000 miles, however this cannot be verified.

As mentioned, the headrests for the seats and an all-weather car cover are included in the sale. MOT expires August 2021 and passed with no advisories.

Hi any reason there aren’t or i cant see any in the boot area on the pictures, as the rear lower panel is very rusty

Hi there, I am sure I uploaded images of the boot area. I will contact trade classics and request that they are added to this page. That is the main bit of rust I can see though and have since sprayed it with rust converter.
