Introduction

Stylish with great handling, the MINI is thrilling to drive.

The Roadster variant is a bespoke version of the MINI Convertible, designed to attract those in search of a sporty drop-top with a touch of style. Constructed with a reinforced chassis, it was offered only in high-spec configurations; the Roadster also boasts an eye-catching look, featuring a centrally positioned twin exhaust, an active rear spoiler, and assertive design elements.

An extremely rare version of the Mini with only 2 seats, the trade off is a significantly larger boot making this more practical in so many ways and the real bonus is that they're valued about 30% lower than their 4 seater cousins, a win-win.

This 1.6-litre Cooper S is elegantly presented in red, complemented by a tidy black interior. It has had just two prior owners, with only 40,743 miles on the odometer, five service stamps, and an MOT valid until August 2025.

Exterior

The Roadster has been well-looked after and presents nicely.

Wheels and Tyres

The alloy 5-spoke wheels have been well cared for with no obvious damage.

The wheels are fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres, which look in good condition. They have a good amount of tread remaining and show no obvious signs of cracking or ageing on the sidewalls.

Bodywork

The bodywork is smartly presented. There are no obvious signs of corrosion, panel damage or uneven panel gaps.

Paint

Finished in red the paint has an even and bright coverage and free of fade. The lustre is positive, catching mild swirling in the sunshine. There is very little in terms of road wear chips or door edge damage.

Glass and Trim

The glass and windows seals are in good condition. The lights also good, with no immediate signs of wear on the chrome trim fittings or black plastic. The bumpers are flush to the body with no significant marks. The emblems and black decals show mild signs of age.

The soft-top is in great condition and operates without faults.

Interior

The low driving position and retro dashboard make the car feel special to sit in.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are clean, free of any marks, other than slight creasing on the drivers side bolster. The carpets and mats are also in great shape.

Dashboard

The dashboard shows no signs of any damage or scuffs, all of the functions work. The door cards, interior trim and headlining are clean.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Both the steering wheel and gear lever are in excellent condition.

Mechanics

Reliable and nippy, it also handles corners exceptionally well.

Engine and Gearbox

The car starts easily from cold and idles smoothly. The car is in good health, backed up by no leaks from the engine.

The six-speed gerabox operates great, the clutch has a good biting point.

Suspension and Brakes

The car rides smoothly with no unwanted noises. The braking is efficient and free of any wobbles or judders.

The Drive

This Mini is a stylish solution to open air motoring, with all of the convenience and practicality of the standard model, the added chic of a drop top makes it a perfect all-rounder.

Economical with a plenty of power, it drives as one would hope 40,000 mile car to perform, and copes with both open roads and town travel with confidence.

Electrics and Other

The car is fitted with the Chrome line interior pack, which includes chrome air outlet, instruments and drink holder trim.

History and Paperwork

It's been regularly serviced and has an MOT to July 2025.

I have owned this car for about a year. I enjoy its lively handling while consistently achieving good fuel returns. The vehicle has been well serviced over the years - five stamps in total, with the latest service completed in August 2024. It includes two keys, and the MOT is valid until July 2025.

From Trade Classics:

This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

This is an auction on behalf of a trade seller and normal auction rules apply, i.e. there is no warranty, no return policy and bids are binding with more info in our terms and conditions.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
