Introduction
Alan Stuart
Absolutely charming - few cars capture the spirit of 60’s family motoring like the Minor.
Making its debut at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1948, the Morris Minor was to become one of Britain’s best loved cars. Designed by Alec Issigonis, also famously responsible for the Mini and 1100 range, the Minor was described by Autocar as “..a primary way Britain got back on the road after the Second World War”. Enjoying a production run of 23 years over 1.6 million Minors were produced in three series.
This car is a Series 3, designated the Minor 1000, and benefitted from a range of upgrades on previous models. Introduced in 1956 this was the last significant iteration of the Minor and it remained popular with the British public until being replaced by the Marina in 1971.
Finished in ivory this 2 owner, factory convertible has been with the current owner for a remarkable 43 years! A full restoration was undertaken in 1986 and a professional respray carried out in 2018. The car has some sensible upgrades and really needs to go to a new home to be driven and enjoyed in the way only a Minor convertible can.
