Introduction

Believed to be one of only two non "S" saloon cars left. It is not an "S" model, but has a sliding metal sunroof and bumper overriders.

Registered on 1 August 1975 (one presumes the original owner waited a few weeks as in those days new registrations were only on 1st August each year!) the car has 25,318 miles on the clock.

The car is essentially rust free and the condition is commensurate with the mileage. The paintwork also looks to be original. It starts quickly and idles cleanly with a little choke. Recently did a trip of 160 miles and it got lots of attention. The car is now ready for any journey. It's also Tax and MOT free, although it has a long MOT for peace of mind.

I purchased the car in April 2018 and I am just the third owner in 49 years!

Market Auction

Robert, the seller, has created this listing themselves using our free Market Auction tool. Unlike our Curated Auctions, we haven’t photographed the car or written the listing, however we have completed 3 important security checks for your peace of mind.

V5C Checked

Robert provided a copy of the V5C logbook, which we verified against his photo ID for name and address confirmation.

ID Checked

Robert provided his photo ID, which we verified against the name and address on the V5C logbook.

History Checked

History check actioned using HPi, the industry’s top verification service, for finance, write-offs, and stolen records.

Exterior

Original paintwork in metallic green that really pops in the sunlight. The car has discreet, clean styling. Almost all the trim is stainless steel.

Wheels and Tyres

Wheels are original steel with stainless steel hubcaps. I've replaced all five tyres during my ownership.

Bodywork

Bodywork is excellent with no dents.

Paint

Paint is even and very good indeed.

Glass and Trim

Glass all in perfect condition.

I also have an exceptionally rare Peugeot roofrack accessory. It bolts onto those four roof tabs on each corner of the roof.

Interior

Soft seats covered with a mix of beige velour and brown vinyl.

Seats and Carpets

Seats, carpets, and door cards all in excellent condition.

Dashboard

Padded dashboard in perfect condition.

All dials and tell tale lights all in working order.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Padded steering wheel in excellent condition, as is the gearstick and centre console.

Mechanics

The car passed a full MOT even though is doesn't need one.

Mechanically it's in tip top condition.

Engine and Gearbox

Engine runs very quietly, unlike most 304 engines which sound like the tappets have gone.

The four speed gearbox is quiet and changes smoothly.

The clutch is smooth, with no snatching or slipping.

Suspension and Brakes

Suspension provides a soft, smooth ride.

Front disc brakes and rear drums are all original and up to MOT pass standard. They stop the car quickly and without pulling to one side.

The Drive

Car starts easily (after pulling the illuminated choke out). The drive is as can be expected from a mid-seventies French car: it's very soft and smooth.

Electrics and Other

Electrics are all original. I have fitted a modern Bluetooth and hands free stereo with four discreetly mounted speakers. No holes in the door cards.

History and Paperwork

I am the third owner of the car. I have a folder including the V5C and partial history.

Work done 23 October 2024 includes:
- Full MOT to October 2025
- Brake fluid changed
- Radiator flushed and refilled with antifreeze solution
- Oil change

This is verified by the picture showing the receipt from Dexel.

I have also replaced the air filter and screenwash fluid.

Since owning the car I have had the following work done:
- Replacement metal number plates.
- Full stainless steel exhaust.
- Five Bridgestone B381 tyres.
- Securon inertia reel seatbelts.
- Reversing lights enabled.
- Kenwood KDCX5200BT CD/ tuner with bluetooth and handsfree operation fitted in the correct radio housing accessory.
- Four new Pioneer speakers, discreetly fitted, not in the door cards.
- Re-chromed Lion badge.
- Headlight bulb adapters to fit H4 halogen bulbs.
- Recent Yuasa battery

The car does not need an MOT, but I got one for peace of mind.
I have receipts for the tyres, last service, and various historical receipts and invoices.
Included in the sale is the extremely rare Peugeot factory roof rack.

From Trade Classics:
This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
