Introduction
Matt Nolan
Arguably a car that has never been bettered by Peugeot - its legacy remains popular to this day and is reflected in the rising values.
The hot hatch is said to have killed the traditional sports car, and while the Peugeot 205 GTi wasn’t the first of the genre, it was certainly one of the most memorable. The combination of the Pininfarina style, complemented by outstanding handling, supple ride in a practical compact hatchback endeared it to millions of people. Powered by the later 115bhp 1.6 engine, this version is often considered the more evenly balanced of the 205 GTi range, as the manageable power output best suited the chassis.
The car has been subject to sympathetic owners over its 31-year life and has been spared much of the abuse that these plucky little cars may have experienced. As a later 1.6 GTi with the desirable no-sunroof option, it is in excellent condition having been subject to a recent cosmetic body restoration. The car has retained much of its originality throughout including the period Peugeot Clarion tape deck. All you need to do is to dig up your old rave mixes and enjoy.
