Introduction

The 911 SC has rocketed in price over the last couple of years, and the reason, well it's a fantastic air-cooled 911 making them hot property - let alone a Sport model in Martini livery.
Something of landmark model for Porsche, the 911 SC was created to broaden the appeal of the car following the evolutionary progression of the Carrera and Turbo version. The SC offered a more manageable power delivery with some very useful driver upgrades, without compromising anything the 911 stood for. When the 911 SC was launched in 1978, Porsche was somewhat preoccupied with their new water-cooled cars but the public proved that there was still life in the air-cooled legend. The Sport model was partly responsible for this continuous demand, the whale tail spoiler, 16” Fuchs alloys, sports seats and uprated suspension helped to define what became one of the best selling variants of the air-cooled 911s.
Specified as a UK only model, this Sports Group Package, SC Sport has benefitted from decades of care and attention. It has been used and enjoyed and not just stored away. Modified in its early years, the car has seen a high level of maintenance and care since, all of which is documented in the considerable pile of paperwork.
It was subject to a 4-year partial restoration in 2006 and has seen continuous mechanical attention to maintain the 911s excellent reputation for reliability.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Good morning
I’m looking at the Porsche 911 auction.
I’ve been through all the documentation etc.
A couple of non standard features that are unfamiliar to me, the bolts through the rear floor and the cut-out and holes in the lower front panel.
Do you know their purpose?
Many thanks Andrew
Hi Andrew thanks for the question. The car was installed with factory air conditioning from new but this system was removed some time ago. By reputation the air conditioning was pretty poor and many owners removed the kit rather than repair. The bolts in the floor pan were to mount the air con pipes that run from the compressor at the rear of the car to the condenser unit which was mounted right at the front of the car underneath just in front of the fuel tank. The panel that you can see drilled is a panel that I assume was fitted after the air conditioning condenser was removed. It’s not a structural part and this was done way before my ownership. I hope that answers your question, best regards
John
