Introduction

Kulraj Singh Salh
COO

The ultimate parent / child combo, these "Junior" 911s were the perfect gift for Porsche fanatics.

Sold in the '80s, the 911 Junior was a marketing masterstroke from Porsche. The ultimate companion car for a parent who loved the marque to get for their child, these cute cars featured a one cylinder Honda engine that pushes out 2HP, and a 2 speed gearbox with reverse too.

The Juniors came in a few different guises, this one is a one-seater and has the iconic 911 whale tail. Presented in a lovely working condition and with Christmas around the corner, well it could make the perfect gift for a very lucky child!

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Kulraj after meeting Mike the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I'm lucky enough to have owned a few 911s and this is definitely the cutest one I have ever owned!

Mike is definitely a Porsche enthusiast, he's been around them since he was a kid and his dad still owns a '70s 2.2L 911. Mike himself has owned a few too in various different guises, both classic and modern. When the chance came up to buy this Porsche 911 Junior he couldn't resist!

As much as he loves this little Porsche, his kids are a bit too big for it now, and rather than it just sitting around he thinks seeing it go to a new owner would be better.

Mike will be happy to answer any questions you have on the car in the comments section below.

Exterior

A scaled down version of the G-Bodied 911, the design on these Juniors went the extra mile for the authentic look.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with Porsche Fuchs style hubcaps and these bits of attention to detail are what makes the Junior such a delight.

The wheels are in fair condition, the hubcaps could do with being painted - an easy job.

The tyres fitted look to have lots of tread and again are in fair condition considering they are probably original items from the '80s - just some light cracking as you can see in the images.

Bodywork

Lightweight is one way to describe these 911s. The plastic bodywork on this example looks in good condition as we didn't observe any major defects.

View the photo gallery to see the detail.

Paint

Finished in the Porsche colour of Guards Red, the paint is in good condition across all of the body on this car. It's even in colour and finish - there was a little bit of drizzle that settled on the car at one point as pictured.

Glass and Trim

This version of the 911 Junior is based on a 3.2 Carrera and it features the iconic whale tail complete with grill for cooling, and even at the top of the bonnet the car features the plastic grill for the cabin cooling.

The trim looks in good condition on this example, just the front impact number bellows seem to be missing.

Please watch the video review to see the car from all angles.

Interior

Now's your chance to experience McLaren F1 driving position in a Porsche 911 - single seater heaven!

Seats and Carpets

Fitted with a single seat made from plastic, it's the perfect material really for when you'll have kids getting in and out of this 911.

No carpets in this example, continuing the lightweight theme!

View the video review to see the cabin up close.

Dashboard

Finished in black plastic, the dash is in good condition, it has retained its shape over time and features the iconic 911 instrument cluster layout.

These are just the printed items, we don't think this 911 Junior has done ~11,000 KMs!

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A mock 3 spoke steering wheel that is the same style as was fitted on earlier Porsche 911s, and a black gearstick to match.

The steering wheel is in fair condition, and Mike tells us it features a working horn.

Mechanics

Rear-engined, rear wheel drive, manual, no power steering or driver aids - it's the authentic 911 experience for the younger enthusiast!

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with a 2HP Honda engine, we performed a little cold start on the 911 Junior, watch the video to see it fire in to life.

These cars featured a manual gearbox too, 2 forward gears and reverse, operated through the 3 pedal system with a wet-clutch.

Suspension and Brakes

"Independent" suspension and a braking system too - these cars for kids offer so much more than the type of thing you could by from Toys 'R' Us.

The Drive

Lift off oversteer was a massive issue for the earlier 911s, but thankfully the 911 Junior doesn't suffer from this issue!

We're sure this kids car must be an absolute hoot,

Electrics and Other

This car doesn't feature any electrics other than the horn.

Porsche are thought to have commissioned around 240 of these baby Porsches in the '80s.

History and Paperwork

A collectors item, or a gift for a very lucky kid, this Porsche 911 Junior is a classic kids car presented in good condition.

As mentioned, Porsche are thought to have commissioned ~240 of these baby 911s. Available to purchase at the main dealers when a parent was buying their 911, they made for the ultimate scaled down version of the original.

The Juniors were available in different guises; this example is a single seater finished with a whale tail as featured on a 3.2 Carrera.

The car is marked with the chassis number W141P on the engine bulkhead and the chassis itself, as you'll see on the examples from the '80s.
