Introduction
Colin Bashford
Whale tail? Check. Fuchs alloys? Check. Air-cooled 3.0L flat-six? Check. This 911 SC has it all.
It feels like the 911 has been around forever. First appearing in 1964, its silhouette hasn’t changed too much since then. In recent years, it has grown quite large compared to when it launched in the '60s. The G-series model has to be one of the most iconic shapes of the 911, from the sculpted front wings, following the shape of the headlights, to the huge whale tail at the rear.
This specific car is a 1983 911 SC. It comes to market from ~17.5 year ownership, and has had important work completed at different times in its life through use. It had an interior retrim in 2016, bodywork as necessary too over the years, and a top end engine rebuild along with a gearbox rebuild. It comes with its original service book, many MOT certificates, a huge number of receipts, two sets of keys, and is MOT exempt.

Hi Ian,
We can help arrange a viewing for you, if you could send an email to hello@tradeclassics.com please as we need to do a couple of checks first.
Thanks,
Colin.
Hi Paul no need to add info on the bodywork repairs as I have reviewed The invoices. If you could send photo of paint that would be appreciated thank you.
Hi,
The small section of uneven paint mentioned is above the rear passenger side window, you can see it being pointed out on the “Exterior Review” video at around 9:35-40.
Thanks,
Colin.
Thank you Paul if you could send or upload a picture of the area in question please that would be appreciated. Additionally how extensive was the ‘bodywork’ that you did. For example sills, kidney bowls, rear seat pan etc.
Hello Paul – does the car leak ANY drops of oil on the floor after standing?
Was the re spray a bare metal re spray and do you have any photos of the work?
The ad mentions some uneven paint below the passenger side rear window – have you had an assessment made of this and do you have any photos of this area. Thank you.
Hi, there are no oil leaks. The respray was not bare metal and unfortunately I no longer have any photos as it was 12 years ago. I have not had an assessment of the uneven paint below the passenger side rear window but I’m happy to provide you additional photos. Thanks. Paul.
Hi Paul,
Are there any oil leaks underneath the car when parked? Do you know if the re spray was bare metal windows out? Has the undulating idle on start up ever been investigated? I am unsure in the video whether the engine stalled or was turned off at start up.
Hi, there are no oil leaks at all. The respray was not bare metal or windows out. The undulating idle was because the car was cold and hadn’t been used for a couple of weeks. After a minute, idle is smooth. I turned the car off because I couldn’t hear what he was saying. Thanks. Paul.
