Introduction

Porsche enjoys a special place as producers of iconic, beautifully engineered, high performance sports cars - the 924S was no exception.
Introduced in 1976, the Porsche 924 enjoyed a production run of 12 years resulting in sales of over 150,000 cars. In the design, Porsche focused on improved aerodynamics leading to the flat bonnet, pop up headlights and rear spoiler. The car set a new direction for the company by using a water-cooled, front mounted engine for the first time.
From 1986 onwards, the 924S was introduced which used a Porsche designed 2.5-litre four-cylinder in-line engine, already being successfully utilised in the 944. In fact, the 924S inherited not just the power unit from the 944 but also the braking system, chassis components and parts of the interior. The initial 2.5 Litre engine delivered 150BHP but this was further enhanced to 160 BHP from 1988, enabling 0-60 in under 8 seconds and a top speed of 134MPH.
This car is a 1988 924S which means it has arguably the best specification of the 924 model range. In classic Porsche "Guards Red" with Porsche script interior, this car comes to auction in Canon livery as a tribute to the 924 GTR race team. This 924S is in great shape having covered less than ~9,000 miles in the last decade. The interior is in fabulous condition and the car sounds amazing. What's more, the whole package is fantastically affordable - what a way to welcome the spring and summer of 2022.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi,
96k miles. No knocks or bangs, all suspension, brakes are very good. No problems with starting or the engine. Clutch good, selects all gears correctly, drives very well. Lots of service history. Nothing to do other than a couple of electrical items to clean and test as described.
Ready to go and enjoy.
If you win it you will be surprised at how well it drives for an old car. I have all faith in it being reliable and it also has 4 new tyres on that have done less than 300 miles!
Regards Harvey.
Hi there seller, I just wanted to ask a few questions regarding the 924- firstly does it start and drive with out any bangs and knocks, is there any issues at that your aware of, ie has the car been regularly serviced, ie how many miles are on the clock,? Thanks for your time kind regards Paul.

Hi ,was car originally guards red ? paint in boot area different colour? also as mentioned before is their any way of knowing integrity of sills behind the skirts? having owned several Porsche models 944’s etc ,it is a known problem area ,having said that ,It looks a nice car overall .kind regards Steve
Hi Steve. Prior to its full repaint it was metallic grey. Other than under the carpet and engine Bay Area everything is guards red. Regarding the sills the previous owner fitted the sill extensions and carried out the Canon livery etc and assured me it’s solid underneath. He had also owned 6 other 924s and said this was by far the best he had owned. I personally can not see any rust on the car. It’s really solid and I don’t think it’s spent any time in recent years since the re paint outside. It is genuinely a superb example. I hope this helps. Harvey.
Ok Harvey ,thanks for clarifying .
Hi – is there a missing air intake grill, the 4th on the right?
Yes I did mention this before. Basically I think it’s still there as when I was polishing it I pushed it through by mistake and it disappeared behind the nosecne which I think is in front of the radiator. I’ve not seen it on the floor of the garage or removed the radiator so I’m fairly certain it’s still there inside the car somewhere. I hope this helps . Thanks.
Thanks for your questions. Yes the sunroof in in fully working order the photos show it slightly adjar, it can be tilted higher and can also be removed if required. I also have the original storage bag for it in the boot. Yes it’s watertight. Yes there are 2 cracks near the centre of the dashboard as photos, it’s far better than most. Yes all the other electrical items work, rear wiper, heated screen, lights, fog lights, etc. The only other item I noticed after driving it the other day was the fan on speed 1 didn’t seem to work but it’s fine on speeds 2,3 and 4. I hope this answers all you require. Harvey.
Hello,
Apologies if any of my questions have already been answered by the pics or vids:
1. The sunroof appears ajar in all of the pics – I assume it closes firmly and tightly? Unfortunately my garage space is under construction so may need to leave this outside for a temporary period in the event I win the auction 🙂
2. No 924 is complete without a cracked dashboard – assume that the pic of the cracked dashboard in the middle is the only crack – i.e. there are no other cracks visible elsewhere on the dashboard interior?
3. Apart from the sticky mirror / window switches all other electrics work ok (lights/rear window heater etc)?
Nice car – thanks!
Hi not sure if you saw this reply as I posted it in the wrong ox.

Is this classed as a classic for insurance purposes?
Yes, classic car insurance is incredibly cheap compared to your daily driving insurance. I have this and 2 other classic cars on the same policy and it’s only £360 a year. For a single policy, garaged you should be able to insure it for about £130 a year. I hope this helps bare in mind I’m 55 with a clean license so check with your insurer. Try Lancaster or Adrian Flux.
Hi, thanks for your question. The livery was on the car when I purchased it. I did remove some of it as it was a bit overkill for me. I heated the stickers up before removing and they came off fine however I heated the paint too much on the roof and some of it melted slightly Jensen the couple of paint defects behind the sunroof. The white one on the roof is a large sheet decal so I won’t be cautious about removing it however if the worst happened the roof could be re painted for about £300 ( as I did get a quote after melting it but I’m very picky and no one else noticed so I didn’t actually do it.
I hope this answers your question.
Hello. Like the car, how long have the decals been on? Would like to know if they can be removed easily if desired without damaging the underlying paintwork?
Hi – is there a missing air intake grill, the 4th on the right?
Hi, Thanks for your question. As far as I’m aware there is no rust on the car bodywork. Including underside. One of the video’s shows this ( I think it’s the bodywork one) I have always garaged the car and not ever had any signs of rust on the floor, this car is in fantastic condition compared to most 924s on the road. The previous owner spent a lot having the body fully prepared and re sprayed. I can take some photos of the sills from underneath and the jacking points should you so wish. I also have photos of the underside in the history file after the work was done. Check out photos on the Service History. Kind Regards Harvey.
Hi there, do you have photos of the rust work repair that should of been carried out due to previous MOT’S in 2018? Or photos of the sills and jacking points from underneath and the outer sills without the side skirts fitted? Thank you
Hi just checked the videos again. The underside of the car is actually shown near the end of the “on the road” video. I hope this provides all the information you require. Thanks again. Harvey.
