Introduction
Alan Stuart
Well-received by the motoring press, the 928 went forward to win the car of the year in 1978, the large V8 and spacious cabin made it an excellent Grand Tourer.
The Porsche 928 is a luxury grand tourer produced by Porsche between 1978 and 1995 and was originally intended to replace the companies iconic 911. It quickly became the top-of-the-line Porsche available at the time. Porsche combined a powerful V8 with refinement, comfort, and luxurious equipment to offer customers the perfect middle ground between a luxury sedan and a small sports car.
Porsche executives believed such a flagship model would have a much wider appeal than the compact 911. Today the 928 is a usable and appreciating classic, especially the larger 5.0L V8 and well-spec'd from factory examples like this one.
Martin is an avid 928 fan, having owned 2 during the 80s, he always dreamed of owning the later and more powerful S4. Since purchasing he's had many enjoyable journeys in the car, and mentions how intoxicating the V8 sounds on the open roads.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Alan after meeting Martin the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.
