With more power and performance, the S4 5.0L V8 pushed out ~316BHP in a beautifully styled package.

Comfortable and agile with sports car power and handling, the added comfort features make this Porsche a real luxury GT; electric sunroof, funky pop-up lights and electric adjustable seats. The S4 delivered a quite significant styling change to the exterior, a much more simple and sleeker design.

This car is coming to market from ~6 years ownership, the current owner having carried out his own servicing in this time. It presents in very good condition taking in to consideration the age and mileage, clearly a car that has been well looked after. Used sparingly in amongst a collection of other sporting cars, the current owner has covered less than ~1,000 miles over that time, and so the car comes to market for a new owner to enjoy.

Meet the owner

Driving the 928 S4 feels like you're at the control of a modern car; perfect stability on cornering, plenty of power and braking to perfection, all in complete comfort.

We met with Mike owner, he tells us "I first owned a Porsche 928 in 1979, the following year was a brand new 933 Turbo, it's safe to say I like cars from Porsche!". Being an avid fan of Porsche, he lets us know "This 928 S4 is so smooth and powerful compared to the older cars, and the body shape makes the S4 such a classic looking sports car".

Michael adds, "We are a family who love cars and driving but the 928 isn't getting as much use as it should be each year. I think it's time to let someone else have the benefit of one of these great cars and I'm sure it'll have some exciting journeys ahead". He's done any servicing needed in the last ~1,000 miles himself, but with the low miles completed it hasn't required much. Exterior

These cars had a focus on lightweight construction and were aerodynamic in their design too for low drag.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels are the original seven spoke 16" alloys and show really well on all four corners of the car. Given the age of this car the condition of the wheels shows that the car has been really cared for and looked after, just a few small marks to the outer lips.

The tyres are all Dunlop SP Sport, nothing flagged on the recent MOT, but they look to be older items from 2015. Please take a look over our hi-resolution image gallery for a closer look at the details here.

Bodywork

Looking around the car the bodywork appears in great condition, we observed no apparent dings or markings on the car. The S4 introduced plastic bumpers and like the older models many of the exterior panels are aluminium for lightness. This car has a working sunroof too.

Paint

The paint finish looks good across the bodywork on this 928. No apparent issues with stone chips, scratches or marks were observed as we looked around the car. Given the mileage, and the fact that there aren't marks on it, we can only assume that it will have been painted in the past, not in the current ownership.

Glass and Trim

Glass around the car looked great, we didn't observe any signs of stone chips or discolouration and overall the trim looked to be in a good condition, along with associated window seals.

Interior

Stunning contrasting interior and leather seats really show the luxury in this model, and this example with working air-con to boot.

Seats and Carpets

Inside the car, the fully electric adjustable leather seats are in very good condition. There are minor signs of wear on the drivers side seat but nothing that was overly concerning on our visit, especially give the mileage.

The rear leather seats are also in a great condition and don’t look to have been used much over the years. We noticed no wear to the bolster section of the seat and the overall look of the seats and carpets appear to be in great condition.

Dashboard

We love the contrasting black dash against the linen colour of the interior leathers, there aren't many cars that look this good inside as this Porsche still does. On our visit the dash showed the mileage at ~170,440 and looked in top condition.

An in keeping Blaupunkt radio has been added into the car, although not original, the stereo looks period correct.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original steering wheel is still in place showing no major signs of wear to the leather cover. The automatic gear selector also presents well and looked to be in a good condition.

'ON THE ROAD' VIDEO

Mechanics

A sumptuous sounding V8 upfront with plenty of torque and power, these GTs were a world apart from the 911, but still were able to provide similar lap times to their siblings.

Engine and Gearbox

The front mounted 5.0L V8 really packs a punch. Mike mentions how much smoother the car and engine are on the road compared to the older smaller blocks.

Mike mentions that the emissions were very low when tested on 5th May 2002, showing the engine to be in a great condition internally. Please have a look at the test page in the paperwork gallery.

Suspension and Brakes

On our visit and drive out with the Porsche we noticed no signs of knocking or suspension issues, the car felt great on the road and was really smooth on the road test.

Michael reports the suspension and brakes work well with no known issues to note, nothing flagged in the previous MOT either.

The Drive

The Porsche feels really great to drive, nice and smooth and comfortable through our journey on the road. The car felt smooth and sounded excellent, acceleration was fantastic and felt really powerful. We noticed no signs of rattling from the suspension or wheels, the brakes worked as they should with the car itself feeling really taught.

Electrics and Other

The car has its original equipped electric sunroof and windows, air conditioning and electric seats, all working nicely. We showcase some of these elements including the pop-up headlights in our video sections at the base of the listing.

The original speakers have been refurbished and a period relevant Blaupunkt radio has been added to the car. Mike tells us that to the best of his knowledge all electrical components work as they should.

History and Paperwork

In current ownership from the past ~6 years, this car presents in very good condition and belies the ~170,000 miles covered over the past ~33 years.

A very well cared for car like this 928 S4 is a rare find, especially with working air conditioning. It doesn't come with much in terms of history, the current owner Mike carrying out any maintenance needed himself in the past 6 years. It's clear the car has been well cared for though we think, given the condition it presents in today, and having a clean MOT report in May this year.

The car is sold with the personalised number plate - G1 PRP.
