Introduction
Glyn Parry
A modern performance sports convertible from Porsche; classic flat six, four wheel drive.
The 996 was first introduced in 1997 replacing the air-cooled 993 with a new water-cooled engine, fried egg-shaped headlamps and a sleeker body styling. A 3.4L flat-6 powers this four-wheel-drive cabriolet, offering the driver ~300BHP to tap into. The 996 is the lightest water-cooled 911 you can get your hands-on, and it was it's 80kg lighter than the 993. The car is perfect for those who crave a driver-focused 911 without spending an arm and a leg.
This particular example is a Carrera 4, featuring the 6 speed manual gearbox for those heel-toe enthusiasts. First question most people will ask with a 996 like this is "what about the IMS", the answer, a full rebuild by Hartech in 2019.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi, there are no pictures of the soft top, what condition is that? Is it tight. Is the rear window okay. Does it have algae or mould?
Thanks
Sam
Sorry, can’t delete this so need to reply to myself. The soft top is in the video and pretty poor condition.
That’s not true. Soft top is fine
Hi, the plastic window in the folding roof looks like it’s gone hazy – is that correct? Also, I’m assuming the engine cover is held open by a plastic rod because the gas strut doesn’t work – is that correct? Many thanks,
Hi
The plastic window is a bit hazy, nothing a good clean wouldn’t fix.
No it isn’t held up by a plastic rod. The gas strut works fine.
Thanks
OK that’s great thanks
I’ll check the engine cover. Apologies. I’ve never really opened it. I meant the bonnet
Ah, yes if you could please, thanks
Yes, you are right about the boot. Id never even opened it so didn’t realise tbh.
