Introduction
Dom Ginn
Quality engineering, iconic styling and fantastic performance – when it comes to automotive greatness, the 911 is often unrivalled.
The launch of the 996 generation in 1997 marked one of the most significant transformations in 911 history, replacing the 993 and introducing water-cooling to the rear-mounted, flat-six engine. It also featured a more curvaceous, spacious, and aerodynamic design, bringing the 911 into the modern era. In 2001, the 996 received further refinements, including redesigned headlamps, upgraded steering and suspension, and interior enhancements. Beyond its updated design, the 996 was engineered for both performance and practicality, offering a comfortable and reliable driving experience that made it a compelling choice for daily use.
Coming to market from ~2.5 years ownership, this example has been kept largely factory standard by the current owner who wanted to preserve its heritage and identity as best he could. Brake lines have been checked and replaced recently including additions of upgraded braided performance parts. New stainless steel rear silencers have also been added which gives a great sound to the driving experience. The 996 C4S is factory specced in "Polar Silver" over "Metropole Blue", full leather, heated front seats and features a Bose sound system with an upgraded Alpine stereo and includes 2 sets of keys. The car has a Cat D insurance write-off market from November 2003, and comes with two sets of keys, its original owners booklets and a current MOT valid until 08.08.2025.

Hi Darren, does the aircon blow ice cold?
Cheers
Hi, to be honest I haven’t used the AC since last summer. Worked fine last year though. Thanks
Hey just wandering a little about the insurance write off in 2003. Got to have been fairly major to write off a almost new car. Did you ever find out what happened to it?
Hi, I don’t unfortunately know why it was. It shows no signs of anything other than being an immaculate C4S. It was 22 years ago and I felt that if anything wasn’t done correctly it would have shown itself in the period to date. I’ve had lot’s of people look over the car along with myself and nothing has ever presented as concerning in any way. Regards, Darren
Thank you. I have run a HPI and it comes back correctly
Me again. Are you aware that registration shown on the DVLA reg documents appears as a Carrera 2 40th Anniversary Edition on car insurance websites?
Hi, I have had many cars over the years where the insurance database has incorrect model details and you end up having to give them the correct information. I had a full HPI report with vin checks etc carried out on my purchase. The HPI report shows all the correct information and any inspection was always welcome. Hope this puts your mind at rest. Regards, Darren
Within the paperwork for the car is the original sales receipt from Porsche which shows the VIN and Engine numbers all matching to the current V5. With my current insurer the car came up correctly as a C4S. Regards, Darren
Hello. Are there any bots on the car that would need attention?
Hi, thanks for your question. The car is ready to enjoy with nothing needing attention. No advisories were given on it’s last MOT. Thank you
Hi Darren, has it had a borescope test done?
Hi Thomas, there is a receipt in the history that the bores were last checked @.
52,828miles. I can honestly say it doesn’t use virtually any oil which some do. Even when not used for a while doesn’t smoke on startup. Hope that helps and gives you confidence as it did me. Kind regards, Darren
Hi, Q1 – does the service record book have any stamps in it?
Q2 – why are the MOT tests from such a wide variety of
places?
regards Salmo
Hi, there is a picture of the service record book showing the first two services carried out 4,868miles and 13,986miles. Unfortunately I wasn’t given the service book when I purchased the car. There are various receipts in the paperwork showing oil purchases that gave me confidence that the car had been well maintained through it’s life. In terms of MOT locations it looks like five are in the Guildford area, a couple near Wigan and then York before returning to Kent. This will be due to previous owner locations. Hope this helps, Kind regards Darren
