Introduction

Dom Ginn
Professional Consigner

Combining open-top driving with Porsche’s signature performance, the Boxster S brings a thrilling and precision-driven experience.

The Porsche Boxster S carries forward Porsche’s rich history of crafting world-class sports cars. Introduced in the late 1990s, the Boxster brought Porsche's signature performance to a more accessible roadster format while paying homage to the iconic mid-engine layout of classic models like the Porsche 550 Spyder. The Boxster S, however, elevated this platform, standing out for its enhanced power and sportier features, making it a serious contender among Porsche’s lineup.

What makes the Boxster S truly stand out is how it delivers Porsche’s signature driving dynamics in a convertible package, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy the road with the top down. With a lightweight chassis, a near-perfect weight distribution, and features like Porsche Stability Management (PSM), it offers an engaging and exhilarating experience while retaining the everyday practicality and style that Porsche is known for.

This car comes to market with just 1 former keeper. The Porsche has covered just over ~21,000 through its history, and has travelled under ~10,000 miles in the last ~5 years. It presents in great condition, has 2 sets of keys, Porsche drivers manual and Porsche folio. Annual servicing was carried out in January 2024 and comes with an MOT valid until 06.07.2025.

This listing was written from information supplied by Dom after meeting Clare the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The roar of the engine and the thrill of acceleration are things I can never get bored of!

Clare is helping her close friend Richard to sell the car which he's owned for ~7 years - over the last few months Clare has regularly driven the car and now Richard has decided to sell, and asked for Clare's assistance with the sale.

Prior to Richard's ownership, Clare tells us she believes the car was owned by the proprietor of local garage (T.H Motors Dover Ltd and this is confirmed by a quick Google search for the owner's name on HMRC) that's since closed - she went on to say the car was maintained by their workshop, however no paperwork was available with the car when Richard bought it. We've checked the MOT history online and the car was always MOT'd with the same company, Dover Daihatsu, form 2006 to 2019 - that MOT station is now closed too, so sadly it seems the service history paperwork is now lost. On the plus side, with DVLA digitisation, the mileage is recorded online that helps verify its low mileage status.

In more recent times, since Richard bought the car he's had it serviced by his local garage and you'll see stamps for this work.

Clare will be happy to answer any questions in the comments section below.

Exterior

With its low-slung stance, wide rear arches, and signature oval headlights - this roadster exudes both elegance and aggression.

Wheels and Tyres

The 17" 5-spoke alloy wheels, finished in silver all appeared to be in good condition. We noted some light age-related marks in keeping with the age of the Boxster, but otherwise, there were no major issues.

The Boxster is fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres all round showing 205/50 at the front and 255/40 at the rear. The tyres are date coded from 2018 to the front and rear. The tyres appeared to be in good visual condition although the nearside front tyre was noted as being slightly damaged or perishing on the last MOT, this will be worth replacing by the future owner for safety.

Take a look through the pictures to see the detail.

Bodywork

The Porsche’s bodywork is in great condition; looking around the car, there are no apparent dings or dents that we noted on our visit. There was a slight scuff on the driver's side rear quarter.

When we looked over the car, we didn't see any visual signs of corrosion to the body panels, what you'd expect, given the low mileage of this car. Door shut lines are visually equal and matching, as are the front trunk and boot.

We've highlighted our observations in more detail through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take the time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

The paintwork on the Boxster has excellent coverage and overall quality across the panels, finished in the well suited colour of Guards Red. We didn't note any major concerns as the exterior of the car looked in good shape.

We did note that there were a few stone chips on the front panels, although these were in keeping with the age of the car. We noted a minor mark to the driver's door edge and the passenger side wing mirror. Looking closely at the passenger side front wheel arch, there was a sign of paint cracking.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there yourself. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos of the car to form your own opinion about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The trim sections on the Boxster were in great condition, consistent with the car's age; we didn't notice any discolouration during our visit. There was a small chip on the windscreen noted as part of the MOT, but this wasn't adversely affecting the driver's view.

The window seals looked smart and showed no concerns, matching the rest of the car. The front and rear lights looked well-maintained. Badges and emblems are present and correct. The soft top roof had mechanical repair work carried out to the linkages in August 2023. The roof presented well overall but would benefit from a clean due to not having much use over the past few months.

Take a look through the exterior gallery and review video. We take you across all areas of the car as if you were standing there yourself. This way, you can see in greater detail how the car is presented.

Interior

A driver-focused layout and a sleek all-black interior - this mid-engine roadster offers an immersive experience for both the driver and passenger.

Seats and Carpets

The Porsche is kitted out with comfortable leather seats - they show well, with very few marks noted on them which reflected the limited use of this car.

The car is fitted with black Porsche floor mats. The carpet areas in the cabin and front boot are also in good condition. We found no issues when looking underneath the floor mats.

We cover the cabin area of the Boxster in more detail in our interior review video.

Dashboard

The black dashboard appears in great shape with no cracks or scratches to report. The mileage counter showed ~24,151 miles at the time of our visit. The display area of the dials and gauges is clear and without concern, with the triple gauge setup looking very smart. All dials are functional, showing clearly with no obvious marking or scratching to the facings across the driver's section.

We noted that no warning lights were displayed on the dash when the engine was running.

Our interior gallery section offers some closer images of the Porsche dashboard—head over and see the car's interior in finer detail.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Finished in black leather, the Porsche steering wheel is in good condition, just a few signs of wear to the edges. The wheel features inline Tiptronic function buttons.

The automatic gear selector showed well and without concern - the same quality was noted on the handbrake.

We've detailed more images of the cabin area, including the steering wheel, in our Interior Gallery section—head over to see more shots of what the Boxster has to offer.

Mechanics

The 3.2L, flat-six engine delivers ~250BHP and a 0-60 time in ~5.7 seconds with a thrilling, balanced drive thanks to its mid-engine layout.

Engine and Gearbox

Starting up the car, we noted no concerns, and the Porsche performed without issue while running and out on the road. We saw no issues, smoke, or heard any unusual noises. Overall, there was nothing we were concerned about at the time of our visit.

The automatic gearbox worked smoothly on the road, with no unwanted noises. The gearbox showed no concerns regarding its performance while driving. We took the car out on some local roads with the current owner to get a better feel for what this vehicle is all about. During the drive, we ran through the motions, taking the Boxster through the gears and getting an overview from Clare's perspective on how the car performs.

Suspension and Brakes

On the drive out, Clare took us around some local roads.

We heard no knocks, bangs, or squeaks from the suspension, and overall, the car performed as expected with no observed issues.

We cover the underside of the Boxster's exterior in our "Mechanical" gallery section. Head over to our video section, where we've summarised our visit in more detail for you to view for yourself.

The Drive

The Boxster S features a 3.2L, flat-six engine that delivers ~250 BHP, ensuring a thrilling drive with precision and balance from its mid-engine layout and rear-wheel drive.

With a 0-60 time of ~5.7 seconds and a top speed of ~162 MPH, it embodies the essence of a true sports car, combining agility and speed.

Electrics and Other

The optional equipment codes, detailed in the servicing book, note that the Porsche includes: (C16) UK LUX spec, including tinted windows, (197) stronger battery, (249) 5-speed Tiptronic transmission, (288) headlamp washer, (432) Tiptronic buttons for the steering wheel, (441) radio preparation, (490) sound system A.S.K. (502) produced in Finland.

Other included features are: (551) wind deflector, (567) top-tinted windscreen, (571) activated charcoal filter, (573) automatic air conditioning, (584) storage box on engine cover, (601) xenon lights, (635) ParkAssist, (659) on-board computer, (981) leather dashboard and door panels, and (983) leather seats.

Clare told us that she has had no issues with the electrical elements on the car, and to the best of her knowledge, everything was working as it should. All switches and gauges appear to be in good condition, although we did note that the stereo dials showed some signs of wear.

History and Paperwork

Coming from 7 years of ownership and with just one former keeper, this remarkably low mileage Porsche has only covered ~21,151 total miles through its history.

The Porsche comes with 2 sets of keys, the driver's manual, quick reference guide, maintenance book, and Porsche folio. Servicing was last carried out in January 2024 and it comes with an MOT valid until 06.07.2025.

Works were completed in August 2023 on the folding roof, with the roof operation and linkages checked. Both drive linkages were replaced with genuine Porsche parts, fault codes reset, and the roof recalibrated, with the total cost of works exceeding £670. We cover the rest of the paperwork supplied with the Porsche in the paperwork gallery section.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
