Introduction
Stuart McIntyre
The unmissable 911 silhouette with modern performance - the 996 model is really on the rise and this model is arguably the one to have.
The 996 was first introduced in '97 replacing the air-cooled 993 with a new water-cooled engine, distinctive headlamps and sleeker body styling set the car apart.
A 3.6-litre flat-6 powers this four-wheel-drive cabriolet, offering the driver ~320bhp to tap into. The 996 is the lightest water-cooled 911 you can get your hands-on, and it was 80kg lighter than the 993. The car is perfect for those who crave a driver-focused 911 experience without spending fortune.
This 996 has been owned by Tony since 2017 and it is finished in an attractive Navy Blue - it also comes with its color-coded hardtop.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Stuart after meeting Tony the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi, Looking at the images of the exterior it appears that there are a number of small white spots appearing on the paintwork, as an example image 66 showing 3 to 4 white dots on the drivers side rear quarter, could you confirm if these are blemishes in the finish of the new paintwork or is it just a reflection in the picture that has been taken, only asking as a previous car I owned had a re-sprayed with this issue which required further attention.
Thanks
Paul / Deeps58
Hi there I can see the image you are referring to. I inspected the panel and can confirm it was polish that hadn’t been removed. They where really small spots that were highlighted by the camera. All removed now. Thanks for bringing to my attention. CheersTony
Hi Tony, does the roof mechanism work without issue & do you have ah y photos of the hood? Many thanks Jason
Hi there Jason. The hood works with no problems what so ever. If you send me you email I will send you any pictures you require or video if you like. Thanks Tony
Hi Tony, can I ask please, what other work have you done to the car since you have owned it, thanks in advance
Hi there Demeister. As a have mentioned previously I have had the car professionally resprayed du to someone scratching it. See previous comments. Also I have replaced the engine due to bore scoring. A replacement engine was sourced at McPorsche in Wigan. A full inspection was done of the engine including bore scoping. All cylinders where in great condition. A new IMS bearing was fitted at the same time. Also a new clutch and flywheel , 6 new coil packs, AOS. All radiators have been replaced. 2 coolant and 2 aircon. Exhaust brackets, window regulator. Wheels have been powder coated. There is more that I can’t bring to mind at the moment. Hope this helps. Happy bidding.
Also the new engine had 74 thousand miles when fitted. Now probably near 80 thousand. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony, it mentions in the comments that the Gas struts are missing from the engine lid, do you have them
Hi there. Yes the gas struts have been replaced now. They hadn’t arrived at the time of pictures being taken. But have now been fitted and working perfectly. Thanks for your questions.
Hi Tony, I noticed it says you had it resprayed, may I ask why ?
Hi there. Yes the car was resprayed due to someone scratching the passenger side with a sharp object. I decided to paint the full car to keep the continuity with the paint work. There has been no accident damage to the car. The respray was carried out by Automotive Restoration Services just outside Glasgow. All lights door glass door handles rubber seals bumpers and boot spoiler were removed before painting. Any other information you require about paint work please feel free to call garage. I hope this has helped with your enquiry. Thanks Tony.
Hi Tony, when was the aircon last re-charged ?
Hi there. The aircon was recharged less than a month ago. The aircon radiators have also been replaced. I had these done at the time of painting as the front bumper was removed. Thanks Tony.
