Introduction

Paul Wright
Professional Consigner

German engineering, mid-engined, open-top motoring – what could be a better mix?

The Porsche Boxster S carries forward Porsche’s rich history of crafting world-class sports cars. Introduced in the late 1990s, the Boxster brought Porsche's signature performance to a more accessible roadster format while paying homage to the iconic mid-engine layout of classic models like the Porsche 550 Spyder. The Boxster S, however, elevated this platform, standing out for its enhanced power and sportier features, making it a serious contender among Porsche’s line-up.

What makes the Boxster S truly stand out is how it delivers Porsche’s signature driving dynamics in a convertible package, allowing enthusiasts to enjoy the road with the top down. With a lightweight chassis, a near-perfect weight distribution, and features like Porsche Stability Management (PSM), it offers an engaging and exhilarating experience while retaining the everyday practicality and style that Porsche is known for.

Coming to market from ~3 year ownership, this lovely example was purchased to add to the vendor's collection purely because of its condition, spec, and low mileage. It has just 2 former keepers registered, and a solid servicing record when the car was in active use, before becoming more of a collectors item. It comes with a fresh MOT valid until 23.04.2026.

This listing was written from information supplied by Paul after meeting Rob the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

I got the Boxster S to add to my collection as the condition was so good.

Rob purchased the Boxster S approximately 3 years ago to add to his collection, and within that time, he has covered very little mileage, as can be seen on the MOT history. The car has been used as more of a showpiece to go along some other classic/exotic/sports cars.

Now needing the space, he has made the decision to reduce his collection, and one of the cars being sold is this stunning 2003 Porsche Boxster S. Rob will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about this low mileage example of the Boxster S.

Exterior

Roof down, speedster humps fitted, be prepared to get noticed in this stunning Boxster S.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with genuine Porsche two-piece split-rim wheels, these are in excellent condition with just one very minor mark spotted on the nearside rear wheel. The coloured crest centre caps are also in good order.

The wheels are fitted with Michelin 265/35R18 on the rear and Michelin 225/40R18 on the front, all four tyres have plenty of tread remaining. Please see the image gallery for detailed shots.

Bodywork

The bodywork on the Boxster is excellent, with no obvious dings or dents spotted. All the panel gaps look good, just like they would have left the factory we think. The fabric roof operates correctly, going up and down in the correct time, and is free from any damage.

We’ve provided high-resolution images and videos detailing our observations, so please take the time to review all media files for a comprehensive view of the car’s condition.

Paint

Finished in "Arctic Silver", the paintwork is very well presented. Just a small number of stone chips on the bumper in keeping with the ~25,000 miles covered. The finish and colour look even across the car as pictured, and this car features the Porsche script to the sides.

Images have been taken from various angles to present the car as you would see it in person. Please take the time to fully assess these high-resolution images and videos to form your own opinion on the paint’s condition.

Glass and Trim

All windows are in excellent condition, with no notable scratches or marks. The window trims and seals are also in good order.

A nice addition – and something you don’t see very often – are the genuine Porsche Speedster-style humps. These can easily be fitted and removed and come with their own storage bags.

Interior

Finished with full leather and optional wing-back seats, it’s certainly a nice place to navigate the Boxster S.

Seats and Carpets

The full leather, electric wing-back seats are in excellent condition, with no major wear to the bolsters, just some light creases to the leather as you would expect.

Throughout the cabin and in the front and rear storage areas, the carpets are excellent bar the usual colour fade you see in this era of Porsche cars. There are two Porsche mats fitted in the cabin, the space-saver spare wheel is in place, and the car does come with an indoor car cover, a spare set of genuine wiper blades, and six new in-the-box coil packs.

Dashboard

The dashboard is free from damage, and all instruments work as expected, with no warning lights displayed. The odometer shows just ~25,109 miles. All switchgear is in good condition, with all lettering intact and fully functional.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather steering wheel is in good condition, with no signs of excessive wear, and the same applies to the six-speed gear stick.

Please refer to the interior gallery for more images.

Mechanics

3.2-litres, flat-six – a pure musical symphony enhanced even more with the roof dropped.

Engine and Gearbox

The 3.2-litre engine fires up without hesitation and runs smoothly, with no issues reported.

On the road, the iconic flat-six sound is apparent as it pulls strongly through the six-speed manual gearbox. Watch the video to see the car in action.

Suspension and Brakes

It’s a mid-engine, two-seater sports car, so the suspension does exactly as intended. No knocks or bangs were present on our test drive, and the car handles superbly – just as you would expect.

The cross-drilled discs and large callipers bring the Boxster S to a halt in a straight line with no juddering through the pedal, as seen in our on-the-road video.

The Drive

Driving the Boxster S is a pure, engaging experience that captures the essence of a true two-seater sports car. With its mid-engine layout and sharp handling, it feels perfectly balanced through corners, offering confidence and precision.

The 3.2-litre flat-six engine delivers excellent performance, especially when paired with the slick six-speed manual gearbox – and that exhaust note is classic Porsche: addictive!

Electrics and Other

Everything is reported to work as it should, with no issues reported. The satellite navigation disc is included, but this probably isn’t up to date. The car is optioned with the Bose system and 6 disc changer. Some other highlights include the Xenon headlamps.

History and Paperwork

Coming to market from ~3 year ownership, this low mileage car has 13 service stamps, presents beautifully and comes in a lovely specification with some choice upgrades.

The history file for the Boxster S is a treat, with two keys present, all of the owner's manuals and folder, and a healthy collection of invoices for parts and services carried out. It comes with a fresh MOT valid until 23.04.2026 The Boxster appears to have been a very well-cared-for car.

If I end up owning this great car, I will definitely upgrade the IMS bearing and have a full service.. I may request to come and have a view whilst I remain as a bidder, but closer to the end date if possible, depending on your availability?

Hi – has the RMS (rear main seal) and IMS (intermediate shaft) ever received attention or been updated? These as you know can be a problem that worries many owners.

Hi Rob – thanks. Looking at the service history it seems that it was last given a garage service in 2019, with a receipt for oil and filter in 2021. Is that correct? I know that the low mileage covered maybe doesn’t justify the costs of servicing

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
