Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

This a fantastic opportunity to own number 823 of 1,953 50th Anniversary Edition Boxster S produced.

Believe it or not, the Porsche Boxster has been with us since 1996 - how time flies! However, it is still as popular today as it was back then when the “affordable Porsche” was released. This is the face-lifted Boxster S which features updated headlights that lost the orange indicators and orange side repeaters. The new look gave the Boxster a more modern, clean look. With its perfectly weighted steering, the Boxster S is a true delight to drive, while the equally balanced chassis lets you know exactly what's going on with the road. When lowering the roof, the Boxster doesn't lose any of its rigidity, making it ideal for cruising in comfort or more spirited driving on the twisties.

With a huge following, this particular model is one of just 1,953 produced to celebrate 50 years of the Spyder. The special edition model gains a performance increase, special paint only seen on the 911 40th anniversary and the Carrera GT, and a numbered plaque to remind you that you’re in something special.

This desirable Boxster has been with our enthusiast Paul for the past seven years. Having enjoyed his time with the Boxster, it is now your chance to own number 823 of the 50th Anniversary edition. The Boxster comes with a fresh MOT valid until 18.06.2025.

This listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Paul the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

As a huge Porsche fan, it was an opportunity not to be missed when a 50th Anniversary edition came up for sale.

Paul purchased this desirable 2004 Porsche Boxster S 50th Anniversary around seven and a half years ago to add to what would become his growing collection of special edition Porsches. Already owning a 911 40th Anniversary, it made perfect sense to have this 550 Anniversary parked next to it.

The cars were stored in a glass-fronted garage at Paul’s previous house, which was perfect to see them, but this also meant they weren't really used, as you can see from the MOT history for the past few years.

Paul and his wife have made a life decision to sell up everything and buy a motorhome and go travelling - so with the house now sold, the cars have since been in storage and next on the list to find new owners.

Exterior

A super rare colour of GT-Silver is on the Boxster - only because it's the 50th Anniversary Edition.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels are the original five-spoke alloys. There is some light corrosion on the back of the spokes, which is creeping around to the front. However, there doesn’t appear to be any damage, and these could quite easily be refurbished.

The tyres are matching Pirelli P-Zero’s, which have a good amount of tread remaining.
Please see the image gallery to take a closer look at the wheels.

Bodywork

Looking around the Boxster, the shut lines appear to be matching and even. The doors open and close with the lightest of touches, and the bonnet and boot open via the solenoid button located on the driver's side sill. There is a small dent on the passenger side sill, but this is only really noticeable when you look at the car from low down.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in the special colour of GT-Silver, the paintwork is in good condition with just some age-related stone chips to the bumper, which we would say look to be in keeping with the age and mileage. There is also a small amount of lacquer peel on the A-pillar, which looks to have started as a stone chip.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The windows are all in good condition with no apparent scratches to be seen. The window seals also appear to be in good order.

The headlights are free from any chips or splits. There is one of the washer nozzles missing on the driver's side headlight. The rear lights are in good condition with no damage.

The roof is in excellent condition - with just the usual light creasing marks often seen on any roof of this age, and it is working correctly, going up and down smoothly.

Interior

Black leather, electric and heated seats offer superb comfort and support.

Seats and Carpets

Finished in black leather with a colour-coded hardback, the seats in the Boxster are in excellent condition for the age of the vehicle. There is a small amount of colour wear to the driver’s side bolster, but no actual damage, and it could probably be recoloured to minimise the patina. The hardback does have scuff marks where it looks to have rubbed on the roll bar.

The carpets are in good order with no real signs of age. A set of Porsche mats has been fitted and are in good condition. Inside, the rear boot is also nice and clean, and the front houses the CD multi-changer, spare wheel and tool kit.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

The leather-covered dashboard is in excellent condition with no marks or damage to mention. The instruments are working correctly, with no warning lights displayed when the engine is running; the odometer shows a reading of ~76,414 miles at our time of visit.

Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The original black leather steering wheel is in excellent condition, with just a small amount of age-related shining to the rim. Likewise, the gearknob is in good order; quite often you see ring scratches, but this one has escaped this, and shows just minor wear.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Mechanics

A 3.2 litre, flat six produces ~266bhp and ~229lb-ft of torque - it propels the Boxster S from 0-62 mph in a respectable 5.7 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine fires up without hesitation and sounds just as it should - no issues are reported with the engine and gearbox, Paul has recently had a new fuel pump installed.

The six-speed manual gearbox has a precise change to it. As a result, the Boxster pulls strongly through the rev range with no untoward noises coming from the transmission.

Suspension and Brakes

Out in the Boxster S, the car is free from any knocks or bangs from either corner of the car. The ride is firm, as you would expect from a sports car.

The drilled discs appear to be in good condition with no sign of excessive wear. The silver paint has come off in places on the calipers, but repainting them would make a nice Sunday project for the new custodian.

The Drive

Boxsters are fantastic fun cars to drive, which is what makes them so popular; you can’t help but smile.

Could it be better as you listen to the flat-six working through the rev range - we don’t think so.

Electrics and Other

Inside the Boxster, the equipment is as Porsche intended; the original head unit is in place and has satellite navigation. Some sat nav discs are included, but these are from when the car was new.

The switch gear is all in good condition, and Paul has reported no issues.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

History and Paperwork

A very special edition Boxster coming from long ownership and nicely presented.

All of the original handbooks are present, along with the service book and a good selection of invoices for work carried out over the years, most recently Paul has had a new fuel pump fitted.

The Porsche Boxster is a popular choice, as we mentioned earlier, so there are a few to choose from if you want to buy one. But with only 1,953 50th Anniversary Editions produced, this being number 823, it’s safe to say that the special edition model is a sought-after and desirable choice giving it the edge over the other Boxsters. A fresh MOT has been carried out, valid until 18.06.2025.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

Hi there.

It says the last service was 7 years ago? Is this correct?

Thanks for the swift response.
Have you had any major parts replaced? Belts? Rear main seal? Air/oil separator? Bore score inspection?
Apologies if you’ve covered any of this above. It’s a fabulous advert!!

Oh ok that’s a big shame. Would cost a few £000 to do the common problems to ensure longevity. Good luck
