Introduction
Adam Purrier
The 911 is the result of decades worth of automotive evolution - its the only sports car you'll ever need and arguably the 997 is one of the best incarnations.
The all-wheel-drive 4S version of the 997 generation Porsche 911 arrived on the scene in 2005, quickly establishing itself as a firm favourite for those who found the motorsports version a little too extreme. Porsche actually developed the 997 cabriolet version before the coupe, creating a purpose-designed car, not one created as an afterthought. The heady combination of topless motoring combined with the upgraded 3.8-litre engine, active suspension management and uprated brakes, gave the Cabriolet a distinct character all of its own.
This well-maintained 2008 car is finished in Slate Grey metallic and fitted with the robust Tiptronic gearbox. Presented with a set of recently fitted Porsche option 19” Turbo 1 alloys to complement a very tidy body presentation, the car shows evidence of being well looked after by its successive owners.
The car comes with full leather interior coupled some great options like Bose sound, together with a robust servicing history and it also has an MOT to September 2023.

Thanks for responding so close to the end. I hear what you say. You have to look at all signs of money needing spending from a buyers point of view. If you say there is no contamination between coolant and oil. Then that would help simply why the coolant might be low. Thanks and best of luck. Your response will dictate if I bid.
Hi
The car appears to be running low on coolant, which is a potential sign of head gasket failure. This is concerning as the car has just been serviced. Please will you comment on any fluid leaks like this, particularly contamination with the engine oil. I had a similar tell on a previous 3.8 997 and the solution involved taking the engine out as a starting point ! Several thousand ££££. Don’t mean to scare anyone off, just want to get assurance from the seller on this. Thanks
Good evening,
I can assure you that there have never been fluid leaks of any kind and I have complete faith in https://www.spautobahncars.com/ (who service the car) to identify and solve any issues.
I also can’t help feel that going from “appears to be running low on coolant” to “head gasket failure” is quite a leap…..
Thanks
Has IMS bearing been replaced?
Good evening, this is a late enough model (2008) that the IMS bearing is no longer an issue. Thanks
Hi
Have you had the IMS checked ? Any issues with bore scoring? I know it was a cold day when the video was taken, does the engine smoke when warmed up? Have you ever had it checked or changed the fuel injectors?
Cheers
Steve
Good after.
There is no smoke under normal conditions. It was probably around 2 degrees overnight and around 4/5 degrees when the cold start was filmed (the joys of Scotland). The IMS bearing issues are not an issue with this 2008 engine. In terms of the other (fuel injectors / scoring) questions, I have no reason to believe there are any issues. All serviced by the book. Hope that helps?
Hi Stuart, could you comment upon replacement clutch,IMS bearing and borescope as I have not found any reference in the document pack. Many Thanks
Good afternoon,
What I can tell you is that this is a late enough model that the IMS bearing is no longer an issue.
In respect of the clutch (this is a new on me) and borescope(?), I have no reason to suspect that either are an issue.
Thanks
Thanks Stuart, yes no clutch in the tiptronic gear box??

Does Porsche Tiptronic have a clutch?
Yes, it is automatics meaning there is no clutch pedal. Tiptronic is well known for its reliability and minimal maintenance.
Hi. There is quite a bit of denting/damage to the back of the front seats, particularly the back of the passenger seat, which has a severe dent, and also damage to the rear seats, particularly the drivers side. There is also a comment in one of the documents regarding the base of the rear seats appearing to have been wet for some time. Can you please clarify as to how the damage occurred.
Good morning,
The indentation across the back of the front seat was caused by the seats being pushed all the way back when the wind deflector was in use.
https://www.design911.co.uk/diagrams/d/41783
The indentation should go over time.
The base of the rear seats being damp was caused by blocked drains behind the rear wheel arch covers.
The drains were cleared.
Thanks
