Introduction
Andrew Taylor
In the case of the Porsche 911, the word icon is surely entirely appropriate. For many in the know, the 997.2 models represent a range sweet-spot among the water-cooled cars.
The 997 family of 911s arrived in 2005. In typical Porsche fashion, to the uninitiated the cars appeared to be merely a mild evolution of the 996. Those in the know, however, will understand that's not the Stuttgart way. There is a wealth of changes and improvements at play here above and beyond the most obvious change - the return to round headlights from the signature "fried egg" examples of the 996. Relevant to this car, the 997 was the first 911 model where development of the cabriolet was undertaken ahead of the coupe. The Porsche received wisdom was that if they perfected the more difficult cabriolet first, then the subsequent coupe would be more rigid and robust still.
The 997.2 model featured here resulted from a mid-life refresh to the 997 in 2009. It was at this juncture that Porsche introduced their Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, or "PDK" transmission to replace the aging Tiptronic S. In essence a dual-clutch, seven speed automatic transmission, the PDK equipped cars often recorded the best acceleration times in tests due to their ability to achieve lightening fast gear changes.
This particular car coming to market is in remarkable condition considering the age and mileage. Being a 997.2 4S, these cars had the potential engine issues of the Gen I cars ironed out, and some important developments in the running gear and systems. Optioned from factory with some desirable features; the 7 speed PDK, Sports Chrono Plus, PSM/PASM, Switchable sports exhaust, Sports steering wheel with shift paddles. A solid spec, if you're in the market for a Carrera 4S cabriolet, take a good look at this one.

The C4S is in beautiful condition. I’m not aware of anything like that.
Thanks – I was referrring to the 2 invoices from Drandera you have loaded. One refers to recovery and the other to a new skirt, rear lights etc. It was quite big invoice with over £500 or labour, not a big deal but just checking if you were aware as you may have investigated when you bought the car
There are a couple of references in the paperwork to ‘recovery’ and possibly repairs – mention of the side skirt. Has it had an accident repair that you are aware of?
Hi Tim
The description says its wide bodied turbo look. Is that correct as the image shows a standard shape. My previous SSE had a very flared backside arches.
Hi, yes it is a wide body car. All the C4 S cars have the wider rear end. Thanks for asking.
Dear wdb82.
I’m thinking of updating to a newer 911.
The 997.2
In my understanding Porsche eradicated all the known bore score issues with this new engine.
I think you maybe referring to the 997.1
This car is a 2011 model year.
No paperwork on the radiators.
I have checked the 3 radiators and they seam all good, the climate control is ice cold and powerful.
This is a fantastic car and drives brilliantly.
I wish you every success with the auction.
Tim.
Hi Tim, what’s the reason for sale if you’ve only had the car for a month or so?
Also, have the rads been checked for damage – I couldn’t see anything in the s/h referring to these?
My understanding is that bore scoring is far more likely to occur on 3.8 engines on 997 – do you have any paperwork/knowledge of this having been checked by a reputable specialist please?
