Introduction

Glyn Parry
Professional Consigner

After a 21-year break, Porsche came back with the Targa version of the 911, and what a great decision it was.

Fifty years after the release of the iconic Porsche 911 Targa, the latest offering from the German manufacturer is the fantastic 991.1. Twenty one years since the last 996 Targa, the new 991.1 features a whole host of technological wizardry creating one of the best Targa models of all time. One of the main features is the retractable Targa roof which, at the touch of a button, sees the huge curved rear window lift up whilst the soft top folds behind the rear seats in an impressive 19 seconds. The Targa is also available as a GTS model like this stunning example we have here. The GTS variants across the Porsche range benefit from more performance, suspension upgrades, interior equipment and exclusive styling tweaks creating one of the best Porsche Targa models ever introduced.

Coming to market after ~ 4 years with our vendor, this stunning 2015 model is no exception, with the GTS interior trim pack, the beautiful Carmine Red paintwork, 20” centre lock wheels, and the fantastic PDK gearbox. With just over ~11,000 miles covered in its nine and a half year existence, this is one 911 Targa 4 GTS which is sure to fly.

This listing was written from information supplied by Gyln after meeting Michael the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

Meet the owner

The GTS has all the performance you could need with added benefit of the Targa top.

Michael bought the Targa 4 GTS in late 2020 and has enjoyed owning the car, he has only covered just over ~3,000 miles in his ownership.

Michael told us; "the car is fully up to date with Porsche service via ‘Porsche guru' Martin Brown fully stamped by himself in service book with 60k service done, due to age. And all’ targeted’ service items attended to and documented despite odometer reading ~11,000 miles."

Michael will be happy to answer any questions in the comment section below.

Exterior

Whilst keeping the classic 911 Targa look, the fixed brushed stainless hoop is a styling icon.

Wheels and Tyres

Fitted with 20” centre lock alloy wheels, these are in excellent condition with no damage to be seen on the satin black faces. The tyres are matching Pirelli P Zero, which have covered approximately ~800 miles.

Please see the image gallery to take a closer look at the wheels.

Bodywork

From any angle, the Targa 4 GTS is a beautiful creation. There are no dings or dents to point out, and the panels align as you would expect for what is a nearly new condition car.

The fabric roof is in excellent condition and operates correctly when folding up or down.

We've highlighted in more detail our observations through our hi-resolution images and videos, so please take time to look through all the media files for a detailed view of what’s on offer and for you to assess the condition of the car for yourselves.

Paint

Finished in Carmine Red, the Porsche is in excellent condition. We did spot just one, yes, one stone chip which could be easily touched in at the bottom edge of the bumper. There are some light marks on the PPF coating on the rear arches, which is common because of the 911's substantial rear arches.

The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these hi-resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The windows are in excellent condition with no scratches to mention. In addition, the curved rear window automatically lifts as it should when performing the roof removal operation.

The lights, both to the front and rear, are in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks to the lenses.

Interior

Black leather, Alcantara, aluminium, and carbon fibre are all materials used to create the stunning 911 cockpit.

Seats and Carpets

The 18-way adaptive sports seats are finished with an Alcantara centre section, black leather with red stitching, and the embroidered GTS logo on the headrests.

The front seats are in excellent condition, as you would expect for such few miles covered, and the rears don’t really look to have been sat in. The door cards are also in excellent condition, with no scuffs to be seen.

The carpets are in good order and covered with a set of factory Porsche fitted mats, which are in excellent condition. Inside the boot is also clean and tidy, with the original warning triangle present.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Dashboard

The black leather dashboard, with red stitching to match the seats, and carbon fibre trims running across it, is all in excellent condition.

Please see the interior gallery for more hi-resolution images.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The leather/carbon multifunction steering wheel is in excellent condition; there are buttons to change up and down the gearbox and also control the relevant menus and phone calls. The PDK carbon/leather gearknob is in good order with no signs of wear.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

Mechanics

3.8 litre flat-six produces 430bhp and 325 lb-ft of torque - launching the 911 Targa 4 GTS from 0-60mph in 4.1 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

The flat-six fires up without hesitation, as seen in our Mechanical Review video. The MA1/03 engine is a wonderful piece of engineering that performs exceptionally well, providing a fantastic driving experience. Push the button for the switchable exhaust to enjoy the flat-six tones in all their glory.

Fitted with the seven-speed PDK transmission, the gear change is quick and smooth and has the option to change via the steering wheel buttons.

Suspension and Brakes

All-wheel drive ensures the 911 feels surefooted as you throw it around the twisty bits. For more spirited driving, you can press the shock absorber button (PASM Porsche Active Suspension Management) to activate a more dynamic driving experience altering the damping to suit the road conditions.

The brakes bring the 911 to a stop with no issues, and the discs appear to be in good condition with no real wear.

The Drive

As you would expect from a Porsche, the 911 Targa 4 GTS delivers an exhilarating ride. It’s capable of being used quite comfortably in an urban environment or just as usable out on the open roads, or even a track should you want to experience exactly what the Targa 4 GTS can do.

Please take a look at our Mechanical Review video to see the 911 out on the road.

Electrics and Other

At the centre of the entertainment is the Burmester high-end surround sound PCM system, which features satellite navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. This is all working as it should, with no issues reported. The switchgear is all in excellent condition, and there are buttons for Sports Plus mode, Sport Suspension settings, Switchable Exhaust note, and the rear spoiler which can all be used individually.

Please see the interior gallery for more detailed images.

History and Paperwork

At over £112,000 new in 2015, the 911 Targa 4 GTS is in superb condition, having only covered 10,611 miles.

The Porsche comes with all of the owner’s manuals and the service book, which has three service stamps carried out every two years, the last one being in September 2021 at 10,056 miles, and there have also been two brake fluid changes.

What a stunning car; this low mileage example is in incredible condition and, being the GTS model, comes fully loaded with excellent optional extras chosen: Instrument cluster in Carmine Red, GTS Interior Package, PDK transmission, Heated Seats, Cruise Control, Front & Rear Park Assist, Burmester Audio, Adaptive Sports Seats, Auto-Dimming Mirrors with Integrated rain sensor, Darkened LED Headlights with Porsche Dynamic Cornering Lights, Carbon/Leather steering wheel and PDK selector in carbon / leather.

The registration MP12 OSS is included in the sale.

We’ve done all our usual seller checks including photo ID, V5 and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPI that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

We've summarised our own view on the car based on information gained from the seller in the listing above, however, and as you can see, we go to great lengths to photograph and video the car in hi-resolution detail - this has been done for you to make your own assessment from the comfort of your sofa. So please sit back, have a cuppa and take your time to review everything on this listing in order to make your own assessment on the vehicle's condition. Viewings are also welcomed with all our listings, so please get in touch with us to arrange a suitable time - we just need to speak to you first and receive a valid photo ID before confirming.

If there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bid/s, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
