Introduction
Josh Sharples
The iconic Mini Cooper - the road-legal go-kart that brings smiles with every drive.
Thanks to the Suez Crisis, fuel prices in 1960s Britain were soaring, so Sir Leonard Lord of the Morris Company issued his top engineer the challenge of designing and building a small, fuel efficient car capable of carrying four adults within economic reach of everyone. Along birthed the Mini Cooper in 1961. The car was a huge success, 5.4 million Mini's were bought over its 41 years of production life, and still remains the best-selling British car of all time. Fast forward 33 years, and this particular example was made. The 1.3L engine provides a reported ~62BHP, which carries enough kick to send you around country roads, and as the saying goes, guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face.
This car comes to market from ~3 year ownership. It's a cracking example finished in "British Racing Green" with black half leather seats, this Mini Cooper has seen restoration in the current ownership so it's not suffering under the headlights and on the sills as typically seen. More recently it has been garaged and SORN this past year, the lack of more recent use prompting the sale.
