Introduction

Kulraj Salh
COO

With Go-Kart like handling, the MINI is always that go-to runaround.

Produced in 1995 making it one of the later models of the Mark VI, meaning it comes with the internal bonnet release and some minor mechanical adjustments over its predecessor. The 1.3L inline-four engine runs great and matched with a sporty interior to keep you in control in this spritely classic.

Tom, the owner, says the car is running a bit rich - he hasn't had it professionally diagnosed yet, but it could be something simple like a sensor, e.g. lamda / airflow mass meter. The car starts fine and runs well - this is something to be looked into by the new owner.

This auction listing was written from information supplied by Tom, the owner, having photographed his own car.

Meet the owner

I've had the car for a year, enjoying the driving on those tight bends!

Tom is one of those younger classic enthusiasts who loves feeling more connected behind the wheel. Perhaps coincidentally or superstitiously, he bought a Mini that was manufactured the year he was born. He loves the red paint and sporty interior and 'MINI' stitched in the door card vinyl.

Using the car once every couple of weeks for trips but - getting her out every week to keep everything lubricated - he has covered around 500 miles in a year on those good days. He will be sad to see the car go though but is looking forward to future classics he wants.

Exterior

Finished in red, the MINI is such a vibrant beauty in the sun.

Wheels and Tyres

The Minilite Mini Cooper style alloy wheels across the car are in good condition with some marks here and there on the outer edges, clearly visible in the media.

Sitting on a mixture of radial tubeless tyres front and rear both with excellent shape and tread.

Bodywork

The classic shape of these cars is a delight to see on the roads. Looking at the car from top to bottom we saw one dent on the O/S panel, but we saw no signs of accident damage.

There are some common rust areas that this model suffers from, we observed some areas as follows; under the headlights, scuttle panel, the bottom of the doors, rear wings and also a small area on the roof. The underside of the car, however, looks free from ans serious corrosion.

Paint

Even in colour across the car, finish on the front nearside wing looks to be different (perhaps resprayed at some point and now showing its age).

Take a look through the photos and videos to see the details.

Glass and Trim

All in very good condition from the chrome work to the glass.

The lights and rubber seals are both in good condition in their own respect.

Interior

With upgraded interior fit-out from a previous owner that steals the show.

Seats and Carpets

Wow - black cobra bucket seats with black piping and red carpets really sets the interior off nicely, definitely gives the car a sportier edge.

The carpets are looking really clean and a great fit for the colour scheme. Along with colour matching paint where needed, all actioned by a previous owner and look very tidy, a new boot floor was added too.

Dashboard

The simpleness of the dash is easily identifiable, and is in very good condition.

The simple speed / fuel / pressure gauges placed in the centre of the dashboard allow you to just focus on driving. Tom mentions there are two speakers in the back with AUX functionality for those fun road trips.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The always favoured 3-spoke steering wheel looks in great condition.

The 4-speed transmission stick is in very good condition, a real joy to use.

Mechanics

An engaging drive, the perfect car for darting in and around town in.

Engine and Gearbox

The inline-four engine was ignited by Tom early one morning, settling into a smooth-running sound. No blue smoke was witnessed after revving the car. Tom had the ignition sorted and downpipe replaced in January 2020, please see the invoices. Since he has owned the car it has been running on more fuel than needed, something for the new owner to diagnose.

Tom informs us the gears change as expected as the gearbox was reconditioned along with a new clutch kit in October 2016. A new subframe was fitted by a previous owner too.

Suspension and Brakes

The underside is in very good condition with minimal surface rust. Tom tell us that the old downpipe started to hit the floor at some point, hence the change.

Tom assures us the brakes work as expected.

The Drive

What needs to be said about driving one of these? Maybe you have already and you can't get enough, maybe you want to add your final touches to the Mini and make it your own - it's entirely up to you!

If you haven't driven one before, they are a great value for money experience and entry in to the world of classic cars.

Electrics and Other

Tom assures us everything electrically works on the car having installed new ignition parts in 2020 and a heater matrix in 2019 for those slightly colder days.

Also, as mentioned the speakers in the rear to operate with your phone.

History and Paperwork

Tom has a wealth of invoices from previous owners as well as some spare parts.

The original document from Rover detailing the first sale of the car has been kept with the car to this day. There are invoices from previous owners and Tom himself, detailing some important works. The mileage cannot be verified though as the history doesn't stretch back to the 90's.

Checks carried out by us:
- Photo ID of seller.
- V5 checked against sellers photo ID.
- HPi checked and clear.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
