One of the later models of a timeless compact classic - one of the most instantly recognisable cars of its time.

The car that was built for the people, a car that is extremely versatile and practical for day-to-day motoring while being able to deliver in racing with its go-cart-like handling. From launch, the Mini was a huge success, selling 5.4 million vehicles over the 41 years of production, and it still remains the best-selling British car of all time. This example was produced in 1998, the final version of the car with twin-point injection with a front-mounted radiator. A full-width dashboard replaced the original shelf, and an internal bonnet release was added as well as an airbag.

This example has just one registered keeper, the original owner who has had it since new. It's covered what can be considered low miles for a Mini Cooper, just ~27,100. Given this mileage, it has a quite outstanding 20 service stamps, near perfect annual maintenance for a car like this. It's clearly a car that has been well cared for over time, and presents as such in the classic and popular Mini colour.

I'm a big Mini enthusiast, always on the search for rare, collectible, or good condition models to bring to market.

David is a trade seller, and a connoisseur when it comes to all things Mini, having owned quite a few over his time. This particular car has come from ~24 years ownership with the sole previous owner and he says it's definitely one of the best Mini's he's seen in some time.

An unmissable silhouette, this iconic Mini Cooper with green paintwork and Minilite wheels has bags of originality.

Wheels and Tyres

The Mini Cooper was equipped with Minilite wheels from factory, featuring Mini Cooper center caps. The wheels on this example look to be in good condition, just showing signs of use, a good detail would bring them up to a great standard.

The wheels are wrapped in Nankang tyres which appear a little dated but with a good amount of tread and no obvious degradation of the sidewalls. View the gallery to see the detail.

Bodywork

The bodywork of this Mini looks in very good condition, with all the panel gaps around the car looking to align well. David mentions that the panels are all said to be original and there were no welding repairs.

You'll notice from the photo gallery a minor dent on the boot to the left of the number plate. Noted on the most recent MOT is some light corrosion to the subframe, we have tried to picture this in our mechanical gallery images. However overall the bodywork is not in bad condition and could do with just one or two small areas of attention.

Paint

Finished in the popular "British Racing Green" colour, David tells us this is the original colour. During our visit we noted that there has been paintwork carried out to the front A panels and rear quarters, however this does appear to have been carried out to a good standard as the colour match looks good and the texture match is also in good order with the original paintwork.

There is a small bit of corrosion starting to peek through just under the drivers front headlight, presumably form a nasty stone chip in the past. However this could be easily remedied with a light rub down and some touch up paint.

Again, we have taken high resolution images and videos of the car for you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourselves. The images are taken from a few different angles to show off the car as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves. So please take the time to fully assess these high resolution images and videos of the car, for you to make up your own minds about the condition of the paint.

Glass and Trim

The glass on this example looks great, we didn't notice any chips, cracks, or scratches during our visit. The surrounding seals look good too and in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

The chrome bumpers, grille, door, boot handles, and window surrounds all look in good condition too with no major pitting.

Interior

A part leather trimmed interior and a highly original cabin featuring burl wood dashboard and Mini Cooper two tone leather steering wheel.

Seats and Carpets

The Mini's cabin features cream fabric and black leather seats throughout, which have really stood the test of time and present very well in line with the age and mileage of the car.

A similar story is told with the headlining, door cards and carpets, reflecting the cars low mileage over the past 24 years, this can be seen in more detail in our interior gallery.

Dashboard

A beautiful burl wood dashboard featuring analogue clock, original Mini stereo with tape deck, and center mounted heater controls below. David reports all the dials, gauges, and buttons are fully working to the best of his knowledge.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Fitted with the original Mini Cooper steering wheel in two tone black/cream leather matching the rest of the interior.

Both the gear stick and steering wheel look to be in good condition and show little more than an age appropriate patina.

Mechanics

A punchy 1,275cc 4-cylinder engine keeps up remarkably well with modern traffic, making the classic Mini feel like a go-kart for the road!

Engine and Gearbox

Fitted with Mini's revised 1,275cc inline-four engine, a very reliable and practical choice that packs ~62BHP which works well when paired to the small nature of this car.

We captured a cold start video, showing the Mini starting from cold as well as our "On The Road" video showing the Mini out and about on the local roads. This is a car that has seen regular maintenance as documented in the "History" gallery, and so presented no issue on our visit.

Suspension and Brakes

David reports this Mini has always been mechanically looked after, which is evident from the extensive service history from the one and only owner. David also mentions the brakes and suspension provide an enjoyable journey with the kind of stopping power you'd expect from a classic Mini.

The Drive

With a wheel on each corner, a punchy four cylinder engine, and a stiff responsive chassis, the classic Mini is a real hoot to drive but is also practical enough for town driving and capable of keeping up with modern traffic.

Electrics and Other

During our time with the car we checked to make sure all lights and electrical systems work to which we found no obvious faults and David reports that to his knowledge all of the electrics are functional and operational, in line with the rest of the condition of the car.

A fresh MOT has been actioned recently, with the only advisories being corrosion present on brake pipes, and slight corrosion to subframe - fairly nominal problems for a car of this age and easily rectified.
