Think rally, think Colin McRae and immediately you're thinking about the legendary Subaru Impreza WRX STI - this one is incredible or ?????? as the Japanese say - only 10,600 miles from new with comprehensive service history.

The Subaru Impreza WRX STI is an icon. This all-wheel drive rally superstar competed at the top of the World Rally Championship for over a decade. Starting in the mid '90s, the Impreza won both the manufacturers and the drivers’ championships 3 times. In total the Subaru team won a record 46 rallies.

With that pedigree it’s no surprise the rally bred Impreza WRX STI is a desirable car. Four-wheel drive turbocharged 2.5 Litre, 300bhp, boxer engine and fantastic handling, all in a highly practical saloon configuration.

Being the WRX STI “Hawkeye” this has to be one of the best around. Comprehensive service history and fewer than 10,600 miles from new - it’s a magnificent example. This is a genuine, 2 owner, UK spec car which, according to the owner, has never been out in the wet and has always been garaged.

Meet the owner

This is a great car - UK Spec, 100% accident free with totally original panels and a comprehensive service history, Jim says.

As only the second owner, Jim simply has too many cars in his collection. A nice problem to have maybe but he’s keen to see this WRX go to another enthusiast.

Exterior

Lean, muscular and purposeful – presented in stunning Premium Silver metallic this Hawkeye WRX STI looks like it means business.

Wheels and Tyres

The 10 spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels are in great condition with no noticeable kerb marks and are wearing Dunlop 235/45 R17 tyres all round. These tyres look in equally good condition and have plenty of tread remaining.

Bodywork

The car stands straight, shut lines appear good and doors, boot and bonnet close with precision. The engine bay is scrupulously clean and we could see no evidence of even surface corrosion on the underside.

We have taken hi-resolution images and videos of the car from a range of angles to help you to assess the condition of the bodywork for yourself.

Paint

The Premium Silver paintwork is understated and elegant. The colour is even and consistent with a deep shine while the body colour valances look in great shape.

Being picky, there is a minor scratch on the lower part of the front valance and some other very minor age-related marks which is to be expected. All in all, the presentation of the car is simply superb.

Please take the time to fully assess the condition of the exterior. The images taken are from various angles and reflections to show off this stunning Subaru at its best, as you would see it if you were standing there for yourselves.

Glass and Trim

Windscreen, window and mirror glass are clear and we could see no sign of scratches or chips.

Trim appears excellent with badging retaining much of its original brightness and clarity, looking stunning against the Premium Silver paintwork.

Interior

Real pedigree - taught controls, rally pedals and sports seats makes this every inch the cabin of a performance car.

Seats and Carpets

Blue and black cloth seats appear unmarked, as do the deep blue carpets.

The door card on the drivers’ side has some minor scuffing but the interior generally appears pretty much immaculate.

The limited use this car has had really shows.

Dashboard

STI branded orange on black dials are clear and unmarked. The layout and presentation of the dials complements the rest of the interior to make this WRX look and feel like it has a serious job to do.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

Leather covered, STI branded, steering wheel with red stitching looks stunning and along with the 6-speed gear lever looks like new – once again, hardly surprising given the incredibly low mileage on the clock.

Mechanics

It’s a powerplant that made history – 2.5 litre, 300 bhp, 155mph top speed and 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds.

Engine and Gearbox

Framed by an immaculate engine bay, this unit is barely run in! It starts well, idles steadily and delivers the power when needed. No warning lights were displayed and emissions appeared clear.

Jim advises that there is a turbo water cooling facility within the car.

Suspension and Brakes

The gold Brembo brake calipers look stunning set behind the immaculate alloy wheels. This car has rally heritage and the brakes are no exception. Jim confirms the car can stop just as well as it goes.

We are advised this WRX is fitted with Driver Control Centre Differential (DCCD).

The Drive

Check out the On The Road video to share in the short test drive we joined Jim for. The car is firm, planted and sure footed. We could hear no untoward knocks, bangs or rattles.

Electrics and Other

All switches, lights and dials appeared unbroken and free from damage.

Jim confirms everything works exactly as it should.

History and Paperwork

What an opportunity – the very best Impreza specification in stunning condition; the chances of finding another one like this must be pretty remote.

Two owners, fewer than 10,600 miles in total on the odometer and 2,500 in the last 10 years, great colourway and beautiful interior. Add to that the rally heritage and you have a very special car. While there isn’t a huge amount of paperwork with the car, the crucial service history document is there and the MOT history shows a great track record.

Jim has told us that he will have the car MOT'd soon after it sells here, so please factor that into any decision you have about picking the car up, as Jim will of course need some time to organise the test and get it ready for collection.

why hasn’t the car been serviced or mot’d since 2017 ?
could i also ask what the reserve is as i am looking at another sti and if yours is out of my price i will grab the other
