Introduction
Jacob Boodrie
A beautiful little drop head sports car, it isn't often that you'll see a Sunbeam Alpine on the roads these days.
In 1956 Ken Howes and Jeff Crompton were tasked with doing a complete redesign of the Sunbeam Alpine. Their main focus was the US market like many British manufacturers. As well as refined looks, the series V featured a 1,725cc engine with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburettors which produced 93bhp, the quickest Alpine yet.
This example coming to auction has undergone an extensive restoration, bodywork through to the engine, and now presents in very good condition.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Jacob after liaising with Clive the owner, having photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi, It had a full respray apart from the hardtop and inside of boot and engine bay. The black near the hinges of the bonnet would be dirt or grease. The black on the n/s sill is not rust.
Is this meant to read as partaken? “has part-taken a full respray” as I wasn’t sure if it was referring to a part respray or its had a full respray.
What is the black near the hinges of the bonnet?
Is the black on the sill on the n/s rust?
Thanks
Hi yes it does. Clive
Clive, Does the car have overdrive
Hi Clive,
Ah yes. I wasn’t 100%, but I thought as much. Basically it is always in position. Thanks for that.
Regards,
Colin.
Hi Clive,
Just another question. I see there is a soft top included in the sale. What condition is this in, any rips etc, and is it easy to fit.
Regards,
Colin.
Hi Colin, The soft top is already installed. I have only used it once and it was in good condition when I last used it with no rips and it is white, just remove the hard top and unfold it. Regards, Clive
Hi Clive,
Thank you for explaining that. I am very interested and will keep a keen eye on the bids. I know I’ve bid on it already, but that was only to get an understanding of how the bidding charges worked. It will fetch a considerable amount more than what its at , at the moment, good luck with it.
Regards,
Colin.
Hi Clive,
As there is no current mot, will it have a new one, especially as the last one was showing corrosion o/f/r back in 2017.
Regards,
Colin.
Hi Colin, There will not be a new Mot, however the corrosion was dealt with by welding in October this year, as shown on the most recent invoice from I G Collins. It was the o/s/f bumper support.
Is there a hood in place or is it a GT?
Is it fitted with an overdrive gearbox?
Is it possible to see the car as I live locally to Cranbrook?
Hi there is a hood in place and it has an overdrive gearbox. It is possible to view the car anytime apart from this morning or Sunday.
Would like to see the car this afternoon if possible. Please confirm details or let me know on 07790 460904.
Thanks David
Hello Clive. I’m new to this site, is there a reserve on this vehicle. Thanks.
