Introduction

A great low mileage example of a fun and desirable entry level classic well looked after and well maintained. Fantastic for those long summer evening with the roof down and the unforgettable driving experience.

I've had the pleasure of owning this charming piece of British history for just under a year. Sadly we are down sizing and I haven't the space at my new property.

Exterior

The exterior is in great condition with only a few age related paint imperfection and the renowned early triumph panel gaps. The bumpers are solid and shiny when polished but have signs of patina which just adds to the cars charming looks.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels and tyres are all in excellent condition with hardly any wear what so ever they fit the look of the car really well and are a great addition to it's overall look.

Bodywork

The body work is not perfect and has some age related scratches and some paint imperfection but when polished and waxed really shine's and looks great. All the panel are solid with no signs of rust.the underneath is again very clean and solid, free from any rust or corrosion. Before I bought it the car had gone through a extensive body off restoration that brought the car back to life.

Paint

The paint work is in good condition but shows signs of ageing but I think it adds to the originality of the car. If someone wanted to make the car pristine it would probably benefit from a respray which would make to car a fantastic and sought after classic.

Glass and Trim

The windscreens and windows are all in good condition for the age of the car and clean up well the trim is all very nice making the car really stand out from the crowd.

Interior

The cockpit is very nicely presented with a really well finished restoration attempt. It's very nostalgic taking you right back to the early 70s.

Seats and Carpets

The seats are fantastic having been fully restored by myself, including foam and covers purchase from a triumph spitfire trim specialist.

All new carpet has been fitted including the boot, again all fitted by myself and purchased form a triumph spitfire specialist making sure the correct trim was used.

Dashboard

The dash is in great condition again being lovingly restored by its previous owner. It looks great and fits the originality of the car.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

The steering wheel could do with refreshing at some point or replacing. I do have the original that will come with the car, but as it stands the wheel does it's job. The gear stick might benefit from some attention but I think it's look really fits the age of the car.

Mechanics

The car sounds great with a distinctive raw of the 1,300 engine with twin carbs, it's just the best sound as you really feel the drive of the car. How driving used to be.

Engine and Gearbox

The engine and gearbox are in great working order having been strip and rebuild my the previous owner. I've had it serviced plus new fuel filter carbs balanced new HT Leeds new plugs.

Suspension and Brakes

The suspension is in very good condition again restored and replaced by the former owner. I've had the brake servers in the back drum brakes replaced and all the brake lines bled. The front pad are all fine.

The Drive

The drive of the spitfire is just fantastic! It's how cars where ment to be before technology got in the way. It performs like a ~51 years old car should perform, you have to drive it!

Electrics and Other

The electrics are all in good work order, all lights and indicators work as they should. The car is a great easy to maintain ready to drive classic that need little to no work unless you want to take it to the next level.

History and Paperwork

There's not much history with the car as the last owner fell ill before it was completely and a lot of the paperwork was missing but from what MOTs I have shows the mileage as correct and what can't speak can't lie you just have to look at the car.

The car is Mot and tax exempt registered as a historic vehicle as it's ~51 years old. There are a few old mots with the car and I've had it serviced once to.

I've only got a few invoices and receipts and they will come with the car

The car comes the V5 in my name and 2 keys.

From Trade Classics:

This is a Market Auction listing, meaning we have not visited and photographed the car - instead the seller has supplied the images and written the description. However we’ve done all our usual seller checks, including photo ID that matches the V5, and also actioned a history check on the vehicle - this is a professional check operated by HPi that will highlight if the car has been previously stolen, recorded as being in an accident, or have any outstanding finance - note, this does not include a mileage history check.

Viewings are welcomed, so please get in touch with us via the 'contact us' page - we just need to speak to you first on the phone, have you register on the site, and also send in valid photo ID before confirming a suitable time to visit.

Like all our auctions, if there's anything you're unsure about, no matter how small, then please first ask the owner in the comments area below before placing your bids, as bids can't be retracted and form a binding contract if you win the car - the Buyer's Premium is not refundable in any instance, just like a traditional auction house.

    Key Bidding Facts

    What is your reserve policy?

A reserve is the minimum price that the seller will let the car go for. We work with sellers to set realistic reserves in line with market pricing – we don’t take on vehicles with unrealistic pricing. Reserve met / not met labeling may or may not be announced during the auction – this is just like a traditional auction house, i.e. bidders may only know when they’ve been successful at the end of the auction.

If the reserve hasn’t been met at the end of the auction then we work with the highest bidder to try to work out a deal with the seller.

Why shouldn’t I leave bidding to the last minute?

Auto-Extending Bidding – we’ve developed auto-extending auctions that mimic traditional auction house bidding; it’s a key feature to make sure classic vehicles achieve their true worth. Bids placed in the last one minute automatically extend the auction by two further minutes. So there is no need to leave bidding to the last second.

Security – we operate higher levels of security, so you may need to enter further authorisations against your stored card after you select ‘Place Bid’. All this takes time and may mean you miss the end of the auction by the time the authorisation passes. To guarantee your bid, we recommend at least five minutes are active on the auction when you place your bid.
