Introduction
Tom Brett
A beautiful Carmine Red example, we were very impressed with the bodywork on this one.
The Triumph Stag is a 2+2 sports tourer sold between 1970 and 1978 by the British Triumph Motor Company, styled by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. From 1970 - 1977, around 25,000 had been made, all with a smooth but lively 3.0L V8 engine with that typical Triumph exhaust.
A strong and refined grand tourer that’s simple and cost-effective to maintain, we love the sound of the engine. This example has been cared for by the owner Nick and features a 3-speed automatic gearbox, perfect for the summer cruise. We believe the car has been restored in the past based on email correspondence between Nick and Tudor classics have had. An interior upgrade was added during that time to a beautiful cream leather with red piping.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Nick, the owner, having photographed the vehicle.

Good luck folks, Nick’s Stag is going to be a lovely little car for the high bidder 🙂
Have the bumpers been replaced with stainless units
Hi Richh, I haven’t replaced the bumpers during my ownership. I’m pretty sure they are just chrome on steel. Never thought they could be stainless. If they are Stainless, it would of been done during the ‘Tudor Classics’ upgrade. They are in really good condition though, as you can see from the photos.
Regards, Nick.
Thanks Nick – is the engine not the original Triumph?
It is a Triumph engine not a Rover conversion. I actually don’t know if or when anything has been done with the engine. Having low mileage, I did wonder myself, but couldn’t get any info on it from previous owners. Not even sure if any replacement has taken place? I’ve had it 14 years, but prior to 2002, I have no history. Definitely nothing sinister, could of been a refurb, but we are going back in time a bit. No trouble since I’ve had it and all looks good.
Regards, Nick.
Many thanks Nick

Hi Nick
Could you let me know if the engine, gear box and chassis numbers all match up?

John
Hi Johnd, firstly thanks for your bid.
The Chassis number and Engine number are on the V5 document, but the gear box number, I’m not aware off. Not sure where to get that number from. Have looked over the car, but nothing apparent.
Best, Nick.
Thanks Nick – is the engine the original Triumph or has it been changed? Best, John
Hi Mike, actually the car was kept garaged the whole time I’ve had it. Garaged, plus a cover!! There are a few bubbles, around a wheel arch, but nothing that I would call an issue.
Regards,
Nick.
Hi, it looks like the car was kept outside albeit under a cover. Are there any particular rust issues on the car?
Cheers.
Hi. 3xQs
Any pre 2002 history
Do you have original wheels
Can you elaborate on “ignition repaired”

Any pre 2002 history?
No, all I have is what has been listed.
Do you have original wheels?
No, the wheels were changed via the ‘Tudor Classics’ up grade.
Can you elaborate on ‘ignition repair’.
New plugs etc were changed as a matter of a mechanic looking over the car. Not really a repair, but a mini service really.
