Introduction
Glyn Parry
Designed by Harris Mann, the Triumph TR7 was a striking take on ‘the shape of things to come’, with its wedge-like design and long sweeping swage lines, it soon proved popular both overseas and at home.
First manufactured in September of 1974, the TR7 was the latest sports car from British Leyland's Triumph division and featured a futuristic design by Harris Mann. Originally launched overseas in the US in 1975, the Triumph TR7 saw its UK launch delayed twice due to flourishing popularity overseas, with the UK debut finally arriving in May 1976 where it was received with great success.
Having undergone a number of revisions during its time, the TR7 was finally released as a Drophead Coupé (DHC) convertible, adding even more appeal to the already popular car. This particular example is of the DHC variety and was manufactured at the Solihull plant as one of the final production runs for the TR7, despite final production ending in 1981 this particular model was registered in 1982, making it one the very last TR7’s to hit British tarmac.
Martin's TR7 comes to us from a staggering 39 year ownership, with the previous owner having owned the vehicle only 12 months prior to Martin's purchase. During that time the car has been meticulously cared for, we're told never once having been driven in the wet, and dry-stored for its entire life. With all original bodywork, factory paint, and only ~47,700 miles on the clock you would be hard pushed to find a more honest example of the Triumph TR7 DHC. This has been registered with the DVLA as a "Historic Vehicle" now, and so benefits from free road tax, and not needing an annual MOT.
This auction listing was written from information supplied by Glyn after meeting Martin the owner, and having visited and photographed the vehicle.

I WANT ONEAsk Questions
Hi the 14″ wheels are KN Meteor, manufactured in Telford,
purchased in 1986 from MWS Wheels in Coventry. They have the correct offset to fit directly onto the TR7 hub, without the need for spacers or any additional machining, straight bolt on aftermarket wheels. Suits the car better when shod with a 195x60x14 profile tyre.
Hi can i ask what make of wheel these are? Do they need spacers? Really look great
Hi has the car been modified to use unleaded fuel?
If so have the fuel pipes been changed for the use of regular unleaded i.e. E10
Thanks Gary
Hi Gary, TR7’s have always been able to run on unleaded fuel, the alloy head is fitted with the same hardened valve seats as was fitted on cylinder heads destined for the US and they’ve been using unleaded petrol years before ourselves. Though l have used Castrol Valvemaster in the past, but since learnt it has more use in cast iron heads.
I run the vehicle on Tesco E5 which is 99 octane. l personally wouldn’t use E10 on any car with carbs unless the internals are Ethanol proof.
The fuel pipe connectors were changed to Ethanol compliant rubbers when l fitted the in line fuel filter
Great answer thank you.
