A time warp Fox with under 30k miles - a sporty and special version of the much loved second-generation VW Polo.

The Polo Fox first appeared in June 1984, based on the estate Polo, the Fox was designed to be 'fun at a great price'. In 1985 they introduced the coupé which was based on the Polo yet took a more sporty approach.

Fast forward to the '90s and we were graced with the second generation Polo Fox, a facelift and carburettor-fed 1,043cc engine - a perfect match for the small and nimble body shape.

John's car caught our eye due to its very low mileage / low ownership and time warp feel that's in excellent condition inside and out.

Meet the owner

Bought to show, John is proud to own one of the best Polo Fox coupés still on the road today.

When John purchased the car he bought it with the intention of showing it and keeping the Polo Fox in excellent condition. He reports there are only 9 of these coupes examples left in the UK making it very rare indeed.

John has always been careful when storing this car; always dry garaging and only taking it out in the summer.

We really like this low mileage example that's only had 2 owners from new, lengthy service history, and excellent condition inside and out. It's a really rare car to see on the roads today and is becoming a very desirable modern classic.

Exterior

A heavily face-lifted and styled second-generation introduced larger integrated bumpers - a great looking coupé built to be extremely fun yet affordable.

Wheels and Tyres

The wheels on this Fox are silver with a central VW black hub cap, each one looks in great condition as you would expect for a car that has been meticulously owned over its life.

Each wheel is also wrapped in great rubber which looks to have a good amount of tread for the new owner.

Please view the exterior photos and videos to really appreciate the condition of these wheels - you'll notice a small bump in the NSF wheel that can be remedied.

Bodywork

The bodywork on this car also looks great as you would expect for a low mileage example.

All the panel gaps look tight and correct on this example, If we were being really picky we did notice a small ding on the NSF wheel arch and a very minimal mark on the driver's doors panel.

Paint

The paintwork on the Fox really shines, the grey colour is a great choice and matches the interior nicely.

Glass and Trim

As you would expect, the trim and glass look in great condition all round.

The rubber seals also look great without any discolouration or noticeable wear - one really nice well-rounded example.

Interior

An untouched looking interior, pink and blue detail lines throw you back to the '90s.

Seats and Carpets

Wow, where to start with this interior, all the seats and carpets look untouched in this particular example. John replaced the car mats and reports the interior is in excellent condition with no marks to the seats, carpets or headlining.

Dashboard

A fairly simple yet functional dashboard is fitted in the Fox Polo, dials for your speed, engine temperature and fuel is all you’re offered and that’s all you need in a car that is built to be “fun at a great price”.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick

A rather sporty and fun steering wheel can be found in the Fox. This three-spoke steering wheel has a unique design that we think looks great and in excellent condition too.

A super clean, low mileage and maintained example is exactly what you will find here.

Engine and Gearbox

A 1L 1043cc carburettor-fed engine block combined with a nippy 4-speed gearbox is that exact setup you'd want in this fun little pocket rocket from the '90s.

As you can see from the paperwork, the car was treated to many main dealer services, and regularly MOT'd each year.

Over the past few years John hasn't had much use out of the car while it's been dry stored and said it would benefit from an oil and filter change.

Suspension and Brakes

John reports a comforting ride in the Polo Fox, he also reports great brakes that stop well too.

The Drive

John reports a great drive in the Polo Fox.

"Over the past few years, I haven't used the Fox much, purely from the idea of keeping miles low and in great condition. It's a fun car to drive, I feel like I've just past my test, every time I get into it."

Electrics and Other

The car is designed to be fun at a great price and therefore lacks extensive and unnecessary electrical features.

The car doesn't feature a radio and John wanted to keep it that way, in original Fox style. We love the back to bare necessities approach the Fox takes.
