Recent Buyer Review – Eamonn McParland on 11th May “From my first general enquiry through to the purchase of my very own MGA, Adam and the team at Trade Classics were quite simply, awesome.  I fully recommend Trade Classics without hesitation nor reservation to everyone who is seeking a classic car.  A brilliant business model, supported by a really neat and usable website though ultimately managed by a great group of professional, sincere and trustworthy people”. THE CAR & PAUL

Paul is kindly helping his wife’s aunt sell this lovely one owner from new VW Scirocco.

The car belonged to his wife’s uncle James, who bought the car new from back in 1986 from the Dovercourt VW dealer of Plaistow, and cherished the car up until he passed last year.

The car has been stored in a garage it’s whole life, and this is visible when you look at the condition of the bodywork across the car.

Since James passed, the car hasn’t been used as his wife does not drive. She’s decided to sell the car as it holds and brings back a lot of memories of her late husband, and so now Paul is helping with the sale of the vehicle through us.

EXTERIOR

Finished in “flash silver”, the colour really suits this era of car, and it looks in great condition, see the detail below.

Wheels & Tyres
14″ wheels, wrapped in Pirelli rubber across the car. The wheels present in great condition in the main, there is some slight curbing on the outer rim of the wheels, take a look at the relevant media.

Bodywork
Bodywork on this car is in really good condition. From what we can sell, it is in all original condition, no panel replacements etc. We didn’t observe any rust, take a look at the video review to see the detail.

Paint
The paint looks great on this car, even in colour and finish across all panels. Again, like the bodywork, it appears to be all original and in-line with the age and mileage. Take a look at the photos and video review to see for yourself.

Glass and Trim
All look in good original condition, a reflection of the one owner nature of this car.

INTERIOR

Finished in striped cloth, this car hasn’t suffered in the interior through its use like you might expect, it really does feel like James cherished it.

Seats and Carpets
On our viewing of the car, we didn’t observe any issues with the interior, it looks really neat and tidy. Take a look at the photos for some details.

Dashboard
This cars dashboard all looked great, there was a bit of surface dust on the dash, but it still looked the part. The photos give you a good sense of the condition.

Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Even though this car has done over 30,000 miles, the steering wheel and gear stick look in great condition. Review the media to see for yourself.

MECHANICS

We couldn’t do our usual on the road video with this car as it is SORN. However, as Paul has some trade plates, the car was taken to a nearby location for photography and it completed the journey without issue, and the car has a fresh MOT.

Engine and Gearbox
Paul moved the car around his garage when we were completing the technical photography, and it sounded great starting without issue. It also moved about the garage reversing and in first with no crunching of gears.

Suspension and Brakes
The car has an MOT until 2020, and no advisories etc around the suspension or brakes. Take a look at the exterior video review, where we have filmed under the car to see the condition.

The Drive
We weren’t able to go on our usual drive, as the car is SORN and can only be used by the garage Paul runs. However, it went to and from the location we took some photos without issue.

Electrics and Other
Paul informs us that everything is working on the car like it should do.

OUR SUMMARY

You don’t see many of these “Type 2” variants of the Scirocco on the streets of the UK, let alone one in as good condition as this.

Owned by James from new until he passed last year, we think this car would make a great addition to a classic car collection, and hope it goes to a new home where it will be cherished as much as James did in his ownership.
